I’m hooked on not only this show, but also learning about the real life story since I had never heard about it before. It makes it such a more emotional watch but I appreciate Reena’s story being introduced to a new generation since I read that her mother would speak at schools & events to talk about Reena & spread awareness 🖤

I'm from BC and this news DOMINATED our headline when it happened in the mid 90s. It's an atrocity what was done to Reena Virk.

I'm sure it was huge news... very disturbing and disgusting. And then to see the lack of justice applied to Kelly's part. Although it was changed later, the initial sentencing was a joke.

@@MoviesAndMunchiesKelly was let out on full parole and lives with her kids and boyfriend . That’s not justice. She changed her name to Kerry Sim. Wayne was also let out on parole and nobody can trace him . I thought it was terrible that Jehovah witness took advantage of the fact that Reena’s grandparents were subject to extreme racism . Also in the series the whole racist factor in Reena’s murder and the way she was treated was played down .

I find it fascinating how many male reviewers are having the same complaints while female viewers are loving the pacing and very real portrayal of the ways that women and girls communicate with each other in real life. This is one of the most real depictions I've seen brought to screen and the unfolding of the storytelling is tantalizing to keep the interest alive week-to-week. Absolutely delicious. I think a lot of men just don't get it.

Im from Victoria and went to the same school reena went to (years later) and i have heard her story many times. Everytime i hear it just fills me with anger.

Just finished Fallout. Brilliant. I LOVED it. So many smart references to the game without becoming fan service. This was a fantastic show that I loved, so thank you Chris for that recommendation.

Escape from Dannemora was really good. I enjoyed Under the Banner of Heaven, and Something about Pam was surprisingly enjoyable. I was looking forward in seeing Lily Gladstone in something too. I'll check out the first few episodes at least

I respectfully disagree. This show did something interesting with telling of a True Crime which was that yes we do want to figure out what happened to Reena. But the show goes beyond that and shows the complexity of what a tragedy does to EACH and everyone involved. I didn’t mind the pace because I truly did feel like I understood every character and what they are capable of. I felt like I personally knew Jo, Kelly, Dusty, Reena, Cam, Rebecca, Suman, Minjit and Warren. Which made the final episode incredibly powerful. I hope the young actors get more work and their agents should be talking up the town with how well they did. And Archie Panjabi better get an Emmy nomination. Such a real depiction of motherhood but also understanding one’s faith and how to navigate that with a teen. Her line to Warren about failing to be a mother to her two other kids, because she’s too afraid to love them too much in case she loses them too…. That really got me😭😭

Some people have said that the perp/ perps were revealed too early . People fail to realise that this is not fictional , it’s based on fact and true crime . There can be suspense , sensationalism in fictional series but not in true crime . I like the fact that it was gritty and realistic I think it evoked a range of different emotions which is a big achievement for a director . Some people said that they didn’t like the characters . Again it’s not a piece of fiction! Most people weren’t ‘characters ‘ they are real people We are meant to see the real main characters with all their human characteristics . Well we weren’t meant to like all the characters! .

I wanted to like this and I saw it through but It failed for me..the police officers story was half baked..the idea was there but it never delivered..Warren..I feel like they could have done more with him as well..Rebecca had a decemt enough story line..she did something awful so she can relate to the kids and probably gives more grace than she should. Jo's story was probably my favorite..hard a** who really isnt..the ending was actually quite good..the parents try to move on and heal but the cd abruptly stops reminding us that grief comes in waves..one minute you are laughing and then the reality seeps in and over shadows it..kellys character just ticked me off. Rich girl who comes from a family with pull so she gets a slap on the wrist while warren who genuinely feels remorse gets the book thrown at him due to his lack of social standing..I mean its real..it happens every day so it delivered that at least.
