If it is an undercover car, it us likely the Street Appearance Package, deigned to look like a civilian vehicle on the outside. GM, Ford, and Chrysler all offer street appearance package of their police vehicles, for undercover use
A couple questions about star cars. Are they're any near or in the east coast or only in the west? And if you want certain lights installed like a different brand other than code 3, whelen, or federal signal would they install the different brand that you want?
This is a great video. I'm a call fire fighter and just bought a 2016 explorer. The siren is where I am most concerned with. Any chance you guys would be able to do a video showing a 16 Explorer how to take the bumper apart, and showing where exactly to mount a siren behind the bumper? Mine will have fog lights in it and I'm not sure if that is going to change how they will fit. Also if you could show where to go through the fire wall! I would appreciate it so much! You guys and the videos are great! Nick
+Nick Bruno We have 2016 Explorers and Utilities coming up. You'll definitely see details on the front end and where a Speaker can be mounted. We'll try to capture the fire-wall as well if possible. Thank You :)
Hey @sirennet I really really love the nova miro thin strobe lights for the back window of a car and was wondering if you could do a video of them like on how to wire them cause I have two one red one blue but I have no clue how to I stall them thanks :)
HI Brandon. If we have a Vehicle come through and have a set of Micro-thins in the Office as well, we'll try to put something together on wiring and mounting. If you could please email us at: info@sirennet.com, we'll see if our Technical Department can offer you some assistance so you can get them up and running.
thanks :) what i have are two red/blue split sho-me slim lights and a red and a blue miro then strob lights and im wanting to wire the slim lights next to the third break light and the miro thin strobes beside them on the corner of the windows and i have a 5 function switch box to turn them all on. they will be in a chevy aveo 2010 so i was hope you had some ideas of where i can put the switch box where it wont be in the ways :) thanks.
Not bad install but I would have added two slim lighters in the back or put some miro thin strobes on each end of the slimlighter. Also I would have added the ghost on the side top in the back doors instead of then top rack its harder to see when off. :) still good install.
It's been a long time, but if we recall right the speaker and front warning light wires are run through a grommet in the firewall. It was most likely on the passenger side.
For this one I don't see the need to ions on the dash when you got a top lightbar or the ions on the roof now ions beside that dash light is really needed. Ours in the Johnson county sheriffs department is a gray 2017 Ford Explorer with the feniex Apollo lightbar in the front with wigwags and 4 (feniex Verison of the whelen ions) on the pushbar and a red/red dash light on side hatch window and a blue/blue one on the passenger side and a feniex 800 lightbar with a knight rider like pattern, white hideaways and license plate lights red/blue alternating mixed.
It's not something that we offer, but check out Laird... the link here will offer you details: www.lairdtech.com/product-categories/vehicle-connectivity-solutions/vehicle-antennas
Agencies like to us the normal Explorer as it can blend in better with traffic. Also, in some cases 4WD is needed over the Interceptor Utilities AWD platform.
Thanks for the response! However, I do believe the Ford Explorer's 4WD is still AWD. I have a 2011 Ford Explorer XLT and all it has extra on the AWD police vehicles is the terrain management system for choosing settings like sand or gravel. Nonetheless, great work on the car! Some times I wish I was a cop just so I could put fancy red and blue lights on my Explorer!
We actually recently got a 2013 Ford Explorer and its 4wd is selectable based off of the terrain type so it'll get the right traction. Ours is turned on by a dial in te console and it can go into snow mode, mud mode, and a couple other modes. It's kind of a selectable 4wd
GhilleGhille there's no such thing as a "undercover cop car" anyway the correct term is unmarked, some have pushbars and spotlight some don't just depends on if it going to be used at night or not.

Should another 2011-2014 Explorer / Utility come in for up fitting, we'll do our best to join Star Cars for a bit of filming on adding in the round Whelen heads.
