Thanks again to Zaza for sharing her journey with us so candidly! Please remember that this is only Zaza’s story and her lived experiences and she does not speak for the entire trans or LGBTQ+ community. Please feel free to share your own stories or experiences in the comments while keeping this space kind and safe :)

I admire people like Zaza coz they have that courage to live her truth despite what society tells us what we should or should not do, especially since she grew up in a very conservative environment and her religion too. It helps that she has a mother that is accepting.

I feel a huge portion of the interview that wasn’t touched on was the fact that zaza was/is a Muslim trans. Would love to have known more about the acceptance/struggles she faced in terms of religious acceptance. This would have been interesting and could be a whole video on its own!! But other than that, it was an enjoyable and insightful video! I appreciate zaza for having the strength to come forward to educate zula’s viewers on this very shunned issue in conservative singapore.

Haha. But lah sia is also a typical mat expression which is a giveaway 😂 and female transsexuals in particular can still leave behind traces of their former anatomy especially if past the pubertal stage. But the whole transsexual concept isn't new. I recall last time there was one My Life Story ep where a man chose sexual reassignment by choice at 26, story felt rather unnerving. TBH I'm not entirely comfortable with embracing and accepting trans for who they are but i get that sometimes they do it to improve their self esteem

I remember when learning about Transgenders in Church Youth group years ago, the teacher asked if Transgendered women can give birth. I immediately shouted “yeah!” And everyone around me just quietly glared or were just shocked at what I said. It was as if I slapped their mother or something. The teacher then said “no, they can’t” and I simply replied “oh”. (I’m not in that church anymore LOL) I really couldn’t help but feel so sad. (I obviously didn’t voice that out considering the temperature of the room) I really hope one day, medical science will allow transgendered people to fully become the gender they identify with, more specifically, their real gender. I am so heartened to see so many people so supportive of the transgender community. I’m not transgendered myself, but I fully support them. We should all have the chance to live a life worthy of living and to become the best versions of ourselves.

Its nice seeing people comfortable and happy in their own skin. Nowadays people are more open and accepting but the toughest is being born in a Muslim family and continue to be a transgender. You know what I mean... Most Muslims especially thosse strict ones will nvr accept this... you able to date ur same gender but if he too a Muslim, marriage is impossible. Even if he is not a Muslim, I doubt in SG same gender marriage is allowed? Probably coz Zaza have changed her Gender on her NRIC, its allowed now? I also dont know🤗 Hehe. Anyway I wish Zaza and all other transgender people out there all the best. As for me, as a Muslim myself, I ok with this but I dont encourage this but if its make you happy, I ok with it. im curious tho.. do transwomen or ppl in the trans community still accept their biological sex.. i understand that gender is a social construct and out of the billions of ppl living on earth there is def ppl who dont fit the general social construct of gender and that is and shld be accepted as normal and if ppl want to change the way they look, the way they dress or even do sexual reassignment surgery it’s really their own choice just like how some ppl do plastic surgery.. but when it comes to biological sex i feel thats not sth trans ppl can change esp like karyotype, internal genital etc.. and in recent times its kinda confusing that sometimes you see on social media that ppl in the trans community get triggered or offended when ppl point out a biological fact like transwomen cant menstruate or dont have a womb to get pregnant etc and i feel like these are biological facts so there shldnt be an issue.. after all biological sex do have other implications like some medical conditions have risks associated with a certain sex and how a person look or think doesnt change that fact
@chocolatococo657
@chocolatococo657 3 года назад
Once sex change surgery . Got V . Nric will be F . If still want to be seen as biological sex then no point change sex / do all this right . * becos they see themselves as the opposite gender . Why ? Becos you are not born like this so you will never know . Remember gay and trans are both 2 very different things altogether .

* huh .. how to sword fight if already gone thru sex change surgery . Got V . Nric change to F . gays and trans are both 2 very different things . Gays are just men ( usually goodlooking handsome men or muscular men ) who like men . And pride themselves having a D . Trans think they are women and want be a woman . Hence the sex change surgery to Cut Off . Got V . And boobs . Looking pretty . Nric will also change to F . If gays love boobs and V . Long hair and pretty face . They aint gay no more . Hence transwomen we address them as she her out of respect or politeness esp when its reflected in their NRic as F = Female .

I am just glad, for all the outside view of Singapore being a 'traditional' country and may wholly reject such stuff, it is not true and we are accepting, especially from the Governing bodies. While there is definitely a lot of room to improve, in terms of processes and more importantly, acceptance amongst regular folks, we are moving in the right direction.
