i went to this concert... on my school's 8th grade east coast trip, me and a few friends bought tickets online, and then snuck out of the hotel (which was like 2 blocks away) to go see this show... i was not disappointed.

I just watched this again. The quality of this performance, spectacular. And Aaron, he is such a bad-ass. He doesn't hit you over the head with double bass and such. But the finesse, the stick speed, the precision, unbelievable! And to sing over top of all that is astounding. Oh God, I miss these guys...
He is soo good :D I'm worried hes gonna damage his wrists with his strokes though, because he doesnt let the stick bounce. The shock wave will go straight up to his wrist insted of being on the stick and the drum head :/ still trying this good, even though ive played for years :D
Not to mention he is basically blind in his left eye. Aaron has been my biggest idol and inspiration. You can really see his passion and enthusiasm come thru when he performs and sings. I shed a tear every time I listen to Underoath now because they have disbanded. They are and will always be my favorite band!
I remember buying this album in 10th grade and thinking it was amazing. All these years later, I can't even comprehend some of the complexities in their music writing. This shit is genuinely perfect. Everyone in this band is crazy talented. I miss this band so much.
Aaron Gillespie is unbelievable, his vocals are even better live and he plays the drums better than most drummers I've seen that don't even sing, it is absolutely insane to watch ...everyone else in the band is amazing in this video too.
Ive been a drummer for over a decade, ive gone through all the phases of a drummer, blink -182 , underoath, RHCP, as i lay dying, job for a cowboy, cannibal corpse, and i can confidently confidently say that Aaron Gillespie is one of the most talented drummers the music world has seen in the passed 2 decades. more than speed, more than fundamentals, more than sheer technique, its all about STYLE!!!!..... his STYLE!! is unmatched... its sooooo flavorful. Drummers like Aaron Gillespie and Shannon Larkin ( Godsmack) are so flavorful! it makes up for speed and all that other crap. STYLE! is the most important. and those 2 have it.... ( travis barker too.... until he sold out and started doing reality TV)
That's what really distinguishes a talented drummer - my father taught me that to be a great drummer you must be able to play independent beats on all four limbs while reading aloud something you haven't before (such as the newspaper).

I was at this show with my brother and some friends. I remember Mayleen, Poison the Well and Every time I die opened up for them. We had done acid the night before and when they played Returning Empty Handed near the end I just started tripping again. Seeing them at the electric factory again in December and I'm 30 now and have a house and a family. Amazing how much can change in your life and how something's remain the same.
I think the loss of faith is the best conflict Underoath ever displayed. The fact that they were actually theists at one point, and are now apostates and atheists is either the biggest triumph or greatest defeat. #uøLife
one of the most important things about them to me is that very conflict, as i grew up on their music and i also grew up christian (i was actually introduced to their music because writing on the walls was on a christian rock hits cd i got at a library sale as a kid), so i always prided myself in listening to them because they encompassed my own beliefs. as time passed, i felt myself losing that faith, and, at the same time so did they. years later i am no longer religious and they end up getting back together. funny thing, i suppose.
This might be one of the most inspiring Concerts I have ever watched (or seen live myself). All the energy they are just throwing in your face, filling you up with the love for music (and their love for good.) I'm not a big believer myself, but when they play Casting Such a Thin Shadow, i just now found myself standing in my room, closing my eyes, putting my arms up to the sky (which is unfortunately only my ceiling) and worshiping the music.
@@AllShaaaallPerish haha I forgot about that comment. I think I was being sassy but he has improved much more. He probably just fell out of love with it for a bit but I have noticed a huge improvement in the bands live performances again. I’ve seen them three times since that comment and each time was spectacular.
here what you have is perfection. listen to this live since came out, never gets old. scream, clean, how the drum sounds...holy fuck what a masterpiece
TIm is the best i got to talk to him at the rebirth, and he was just so amazing, i felt kinda small cuz i was 13, but he made me feel like i was the only one at the meet and greet on top of that he gave me his set list!!!:)
Seriously, I don't really like anything they've had in the last like 15 years. I came by to hear Spencer live. I still don't like it but you're kinda stupid if you dislike this.
Being asked to go on stage with Underoath during their farewell show in Houston will always be the most spectacular moments in my life. Love these dudes. Still can't believe they are done.
Going to see these guys Wednesday for the 1st and last time. :/ I'll be honest, I wish Aaron could be there but Im just glad I get to say that I saw Underoath live once In my life.
So glad I got to watch these guys twice before they hung up the boots! Much like Patrick, drove myself about 75 miles 3 months after getting my license and saw them at Warped Tour 06 when I was 16. Will so miss this band and only hope the best for all these guys!
I will always love Underøath Aaron Gillespie got me into drumming and is the reason why I am able to travel the world playing drums Underoath really changed my life and my future is bright I got their Ø tatted on my finger for Aaron inspiring me :) it sucks they didn't do a last show in CALI but oh well I'm sure they will do a reunion tour in the long run;D Long Live Underøath !
underoath will forever be my favorite band I've been watching this ever since it came out almost everday without fail. I will always miss them. Goodbye underoath you will truely be missed!
I wish they still had this live magic. Aaron and Spencer both sang so differently back here. Less nasally and with more clarity in their tone. I’m stuck reliving the past I guess lol.
he uses one. when he first started drumming for the band he used it a lot. on the more recent records he didnt use it as much in the studio but for live shows he throws it in there more
