The design Calendar Man had in his Arkham Asylum bio was pretty great, it's kinda like his old school outfit but with a more modern look it being a flashy suit with a calendar cape, that I felt would make a great staple design for the character. I love Calendar Man, much like Killer Moth and Cat-Man he's such an underrated character with loads of untapped potential, potential I feel is a bit more realized then poor Moth and Cat-Man but he feels a tad unrealized regardless.

@@mr.rogues4145 Same, Calendar Man's costume design in his Arkham Asylum bio should've been his official costume for other media because its a more modern design that is amazing for the character and way better than his old goofy classic costume.

My opinion of Calendar Man... I do believe that there are never any BAD idea.. just not well executed ones....Except for the Emoji Movie, that was just a bad idea from day one... But Calendar Man DOES have the potential to be more then he is, I mean he commits crimes based on the calendar, something that human kind has followed since the days of Julius Caesar...there are story ideas where that theme could lead to a good story... Like maybe a story where Calender Man alternates a crime spree between First, MIddle, and Last Days of months.. constantly switching between them.. and confounding the cops.. and Batman will have to put his detective skills to the test.

I actually don't like the new super powered calendar man that rebirth gave us. For some reason I think that makes him even sillier than the underestimated b list rogue. That's the main reason I love the lesser villain s almost as much as the famous ones, they are underestimated until they come back worse than before. just look at Batman eternal. If you never read it that one is a good example of how to use those kind of villains.
@susanaalmeida593

I feel like what they're doing with Calendar Man isn't too far off what they did to Killer Moth where they turned him into a giant mutant moth called Charaxes. Just giving the villains powers and turning them into something completely different feels like they're trying too hard to make them cool or"badass".

"Do you agree with me that he has the potential to be a great Batman Rogue?" I certainly do. Now, I'm going to confess and say that I've only read three - count 'em, THREE - Calendar Man comics. Two of them, as you may have guessed, are "The Long Halloween" and "Dark Victory." The other - coincidentally enough - is the 80 Page Giant story, "A Month of Sundays." This one I picked up because when I found out Calendar Man, of all villains, was going to be the main villain, I actually expected it to be a goofy story. My knowledge of the character was (and to an extent, still is) quite limited. To put it in the simplest terms, I was so very wrong. My feelings towards the character are...mixed. I really don't consider him that great a rogue. The 80 Page Giant story was fun, and I liked how dark they went with the character, but I would never call it one of the greatest comics ever. And, like you, I really do feel that's the best story this character has ever gotten in the comics. As much as I love "The Long Halloween," I have to admit, I've never understood why that version of Calendar Man has become so popular. He literally exists, I feel, just so Jeph Loeb could pay homage to Hannibal Lecter. He looks like Lecter, he acts like Lecter, he talks a bit like Lecter, and his role in the plot is very obviously based on Lecter's in "Silence of the Lambs." I don't necessarily have a PROBLEM with that, except that we never learn much ABOUT Calendar Man in those stories. This could work if you were careful, making him mysterious and menacing, but instead he just comes across as what he is: an homage to a much better, more interesting character. Ironically, I think the Arkham version, which is based on the one in "The Long Halloween," handled that much better. Why? Because he talks about his actual crimes. He's still a mystery, but now we actually get backstory on him. That's a hard thing to handle, but they pull it off, in my opinion. Ironically, though, I think my favorite take on the character will always be the genderbent version from the DCAU, "Calendar Girl." I actually really, really liked her episode, and her story is probably the best Calendar Man story out there, in my humble opinion...which is a little ironic, when you think about it. Ultimately, I have to admit that I think I agree with you on the character's biggest drawbacks: costume and writing. There's really a lot of fun you can have with that gimmick. But his main costume is silly, and the writers seem to think he's silly, too. I have to admit, though, that I do like the idea of a villain changing outfits...but the issue is that we still need a "set look" to go back on. There are many villains who adopt multiple disguises in comics - the Chameleon from Marvel, for instance - but there's always a set look to go back on. The set look for Calendar Man isn't that great, and is rarely used, at the end of the day, so it really doesn't work the way it probably should. I think Calendar Man would work best if you made his "set look" more simple - like "The Long Halloween" version - but also still gave him the gimmick of changing outfits. That would make him a more unique scoundrel, and it would make his set look more interesting BECAUSE of its simplicity in comparison. ANYWAY, that's all I've got. :)

I think a story involving Riddler and Calendar man team up can work for a detective focus story with riddles focusing on various historical dates with Batman going into the history of various locations which can reference various previous comics or actual history.

At first I drew a redesign of Julian as basically a variation of his more modern look, but with a scarf including the days of each month on it and a red, white and black colour scheme. But now I think I have a better idea. Instead of giving him a single outfit, how about making him different in his physical appearance. Like how about he has a very youthful facial structure, almost giving him a baby-like face, yet he also has long bearded facial hair, like an old man. This would act as a visual metaphor for both time and the new year, like a hybrid of Father Time and Baby New Year. But if you really want to give him a signature outfit, then I would have him wear holiday-themed costumes but only for disguise purposes and that they would match up with his colour scheme, like dressing up as Santa Clause on Christmas or wearing a Devils costume on Halloween. The disguises would also make it more challenging for Batman as then Calendar Man would be harder to find in say a crowd of charity Santas or a neighborhood full of young and adult trick or treaters. But when he's not wearing a disguise, I'd just have him wear ordinary clothes with his colour scheme like a red sweater, white shirt and black trousers. So, how about that?

I think this is your greatest video sir. I love Calendar Man now for the same reason that I love my other favorite rogues: Scarecrow and the Ridder, they are fountains of potential, just waiting for the day that a true classic comes their way. Don't worry what any of those "fans" say because if they don't read the comics then they ain't really fans at all. I know these guys and they all think that the Joker is the only good Batman villain. Again, excellent video, even more so than usual.

Calendar Man has never been a villain that's particularly interested me personally but I think you've done an excellent job highlighting his potential. I don't hate the character at all nor do I think he ranks among the worst villains (ex. Kite-Man, Ten-Eyed Man) and I'd be perfectly fine if a writer chose to revamp the character and tell a new story. I think he'd work marvelously in an Adam West style Batman story and it's a bit of a mystery to me why he hasn't already.

I think Calanderman’s costume is perfect because most of Batman’s villains look scary but Calanderman looks silly which helps him stand out and it’s a good and interesting combo to have a villain who’s visually silly but who you still take seriously because of their actions and the threat they present. calendar man could exclusively commit crimes based on holidays, so then batman has to figure out which unknown and uncelebrated holiday is coming up next so he can catch him in the act during some crime spree
@TheKingProto
@TheKingProto 4 года назад
Only thing I could possibly add other than what has already said is that a man obsessed with dates and the calendar could be a challenging villain due to the fact that there are so many obscure holidays that no one knows about off the top of their head, or historical holidays that are no longer celebrated in the modern era; holidays such as this are centered around major events (D-Day anniversary, Columbus Day, etc), to miniscule, a weird thematic, and even every day items (such as Ice Cream Day). Thus, you have the potential for a villain to literally commit any kind of crime on any given day with the prior forethought and strategy around a theme of a holiday, event, or item that even Batman would have to deduce the answer to due to sheer obscurity or due to the utter unpredictability due to lack of knowledge that would require Batman to learn that calendar as Day has. Or even better, make up fictional holidays exclusive to DC as a universe that Calendar Man could capitalize off of in addition to already existing holidays. DC has an actual Flash Day that is celebrated in Flash's home city for example, and I'm sure Metropolis has a Superman Day squeezed into the calendar somewhere (crossover potential). Which also brings up the potential for LOCAL holidays exclusive to a town or region. Calendar Man is clearly an intellectual powerhouse in his own right but is stifled by his obsessions and compulsions, as in his Long Halloween and Dark Victory appearances he is obviously doing mental gymnastics to give cryptic clues to the Dark Knight. What is to say it is not possible for him to have memorized every possible holiday on every day of the modern calendar year that exists now and in history? Its definitely possible, given the detailed historical record we have as a globe.

The Calander Man, in my opinion, is an underrated rogue of Batman. It's kinda funny how his last name is Day because of the days of the weeks we have. I like his costume though, the red and white look great on him. He seems like an interesting villain I can do an evolution on next week, I know that people say he is sometimes a joked villain like Killer Moth or Catman, but I still think he is a good villain to get into, maybe he could've been more a time villain to erase the days of the week from being made and manipulate them with gadgets he could come up with. All in all, I still think Calander Man is an amazing villain from the silver age of comics til now in this present day.

Ah, Calendar Man...I freaking love this guy. I want somebody to give him the same treatment that Kite-Man has gotten over the course of the past year; show us how he became this obsessed with dates, show us more of what he can do (he was first shown having a knack for building impressive costumes, maybe that can be tied into him again somehow?), and don't make him a Meta. What they should do is what Rebirth did with Clock King, and have two different Calendar Men running around (plus Calendar Girl as well maybe?); one with the obsession with dates, the vast array of powerful costumes and the classic "battle of wits" motivation, and another who has a Metahuman power connecting him to the seasonal patterns, as when the seasons change, he is changed with them. Either that or ditch the Metahuman explanation and connect him to the Green. Either one works, but the connection to the Green seems like it has more story potential.

Personally I’d keep a single design for the costume, but change the colour scheme (and perhaps an added logo) for the theme of what crime he does. The cape would be unaltered as I like it’s design, and how it gives the character a defining article to recognize him by. This would keep a balance of a recognizable silhouette, with the original idea of themed costumes.

I think calling bald, locked-up Day a has been is a bit on the harsh side. He's just not in an active role in the story; more the quirky wise oracle role; that character rarely gets too much spotlight. He's not written as a broken soul, wasting away in his cell; but a web weaver, amused by what is going on, and planning how to use it to his advantage.

Hey Gotham Rogue's I was rewatching this video and I had read in detective comics, Calendar Man appears as a bouncer/petty thug/drug dealer named Julien Day who is an abusive father. He eventually gets his ass handed to him by Matches Malone who while investigating a multi book caper befriends his son as Batman and gives him a batarang. All this happening on the kids birthday Matches/Batman states: Get a calendar! He then appears in futures end as the final villain of detective comics, having plunged Gotham into a second ZERO year Batman must team up with the Riddler and infiltrate Blackgate which has been taken over by hordes of C and D lister villains and even a few B listers. All hang on the Calendar Man's every word and at the end of the story Julien murders the Riddler and has a truce with Batman resigning he was a terrible father but has made sure his son has been taken care of ever since he got that beating. With everything taken care of he restores Gotham's water and power and goes back to his cell calling ALL the villains off and basically showing he is the king of Blackgate.

And vest would change from month to month and if that month has a holiday that particular day on the vest would have decorations corresponding to that particular Holiday. He would sill be bald and have the 12 months of the year tattooed onto his head. He would also be a very fit fellow because he keeps in shape so that he can commit his crimes. He would be a solo act with no henchmen to speak of. Please someone try and draw this.

Hey OtthaFilms, I love your artwork of Calender Man and Clock King, it looks amazing and very well detailed, I wish your version of these two characters are the official looks, Calender Man and Clock King should've been in Gotham, they can do a really dark and twisted story with them, Clock King did appear in Arrow and the Flash, why not Gotham, and it will be cool for Calender Man to appear in Gotham, he's a very dangerous character from the Arkham games who kills people on holidays, a two or four episode arc about Calender Man will be perfect for Gotham with its dark tone and will make the character so much better, I mean look what they did with Mad Hatter, he's actually a really good villian in Gotham, and the same will go for Calender Man, its a shame they can't do this with Season 5 being the final season, oh will, great artwork though.

Callender Man could be a great villain, if he keeps the look from Dark Victory and is a serial killer who commits unique holiday themed murders. Like from Arkham City. I disagree about the costume, I don't think he should have anything but the months carved around his skull. but anyway I'm actually thinking of writing a comic script of that.

I'd like to see a Calendar Man who engages in a battle of wills with Batman. Who believes that there's an imaginary power within dates that can grant immortality which he's desperately trying to master. He recognizes that Batman is a relatively normal mortal man who survives the impossible out of sheer will, so Julian will force the both of them into horrifically dangerous scenarios based on dates because if he can out will the Batman using the power he's convinced is in the calendar he will be able to outlast all things.

I liked in Arkham City how if you visited Calendar Man on certain dates he'd tell you about different murders he committed and then after he tells you the last one when you go back to thee courthouse cell Two Face locked him in he's gone.

🃏📆🗓️🎩🦇📅 They could make a Se7en-type movie starring Calendar Man as the main villian, would be an awesome film... Especially if he teamed up with other deranged villians like Scarface for example, Mad Hatter & Maxie Zeus 🦇🎩🃏📆📅🗓️

Personally my favorite design of Calendar Man is the Arkham Asylum art. It’s a mix of classic and new. PS are you planning on a Killer Moth video anytime soon.

That might be my favorite design too. A shame it never appeared in anything else. Sorry no plans for Moth at the moment, but I'll most likely do something with him in the future.

I agree.Calendar Man can be a a great villian. I'd like to see Julian become a murderous mastermind similiar to the Riddler in Dark City. In Ridler's case, he was already a great villian, I feel like those late 80's writers were just too lazy to do anything with him. The Remarkable Ruse Of the Riddler itself shows how manipulative Riddler can be as a mastermind. Calendar Man has the potential to be a dangerous mastermind.

Thursday or Thors day is the day of jupiter worship like every other day is named from the planets moon and sun day is sunday, monday is moonday, Tuesday is Aries or Mars, Wednesday is Mercury, Thursday Thors day or Jupiters day, Friday is Venus or Lucifer, Saturday is Saturns day or Satans day ( which is why this is a party day and the end of the week. )

I think it maybe is cause Days are pretty predictable? (Yeah the other stuff can also be pretty predictable too of course, but have way more room for variation and unpredictability) I dont realy hate him like said in the comments they could make realy made some interesting ideas with this if they would try.

Really nice work! I think your "calendar cape" is better than the one he actually wore in the comics. I love the pale "Tim Sale" inspired face too, and that smug expression.
