We Watched Too Many Puppet Master Movies - re:View (part 1) 

My dad, George Peck, was Dr. Magrew in Curse of the Puppetmaster. Can't wait for them to roast it in part 2! I was too young to watch it and see my dad die on screen when it came out, but since he's passed, I watch it every Halloween with my friends as our The Room. I cherish that he's preserved in indie horror with this and Dawn of the Mummy where he played even campier versions of himself having already been a campy, singing bus driver most of his life. Love you and miss you dad!

I love how Jack says “yeah, yeaaah, yes,” so lovingly to fill in the deadening silence as Jay speaks. It’s a subtle homage to the ADR given to the puppets. Bravo.

Funny story.....I wasn't close to my grandad. He was old school. Children and emotions were for women as far as he was concerned. But the one time he baby sat me and my brother without my grandma, he took us to block buster video to rent a movie. We were 9 and 7 years old. He read the title "puppet master", didn't think anything of it and rented it for us. That was a good weekend 🤣 That story was mentioned at his funeral, which made me chuckle. I'm a grandad now myself and I adore my grandkids. I'm close to them all. Wouldn't let them watch puppet master mind 🤣

October is a magical time.

So about 12 years ago, some friends and I found a 9 movie box set of the Puppetmaster films. We were in high school, it was something dumb to watch, why not? The experience of watching the first three back-to-back was insanity. The third film was so much more enjoyable to us, it's genuinely one of my favorite films because it really got me into schlock cinema. These movies hold a very dear place in my heart.

I subscribed to the Full Moon streaming service last year and had a lot of fun rewatching all of these moves I hadn't seen since first renting them back in the day. There are a few gems in the their catalog, and I do admire their craft in a lot of ways. It's all so workmanlike.

This channel is like soul food to me. Struggling a bit at the moment with depression and the spur of excitement to see a new upload seems almost soothing right now. Love you guys, please never stop being so fantastic. ❤

These movies and the ghoulies ones got me loving watching ridiculous B movies. So ridiculous, so good.

The Littlest Reich is one of my favorite movies, and I am damn proud to say that.

Jay actually loves these movies, because he would fit right in with those puppets.

Puppet Master seems like the Friday the 13th series. There's lots of great bits sprinkled throughout the series, but there's really no one great film that "has it all".

AHEM Richard Lynch was also the leader of the smugglers in that two-part episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation where Picard faked his own death so he could go undercover as a smuggler to find that stupid ancient Vulcan weapon that uses people's own emotions to kill them somehow.

BLADE... the most evil looking... the kindly old scientist... We can just sweep this ret-con under here... it doesnt have to make sense. That line delivery just got me. 😂

“Two old twinks watch -insert number here- bad movies” is my favorite genre.

My father died the other day and these hack frauds are the only thing bringing smiles to my face. Beautiful bastards edit my brother and I grew up on full moon but the series ended to me with 4/5 good puppets versus small demons one. Which I remember liking at fifteen.

I love how passionate Jay is about movie making - it's always so interesting to listen to all this stuff to me. Nice to see Jack too. He had some great line delivery, i couldn't find it again while skimming through the video, but he's always so enthusiastic, it is nice. Thanks for the video, guys!

I saw the first Puppet Master on SciFi as a little kid. I had to turn it off at the leech-woman regurgitation murder scene, which confused and scared me. "Dolls" is A+ schlock though, it's actually good

Clearly the series didn't go long enough if Dollman never appeared with them. Tim Thomerson makes everything better.

So glad this franchise is getting re:viewed. Unlike most bad movies I enjoy only second-hand, via RU-vid videos of people commenting or reacting to them, I tried to watch some of these movies. The inconsistent lore made me give up on it about two movies in. But I know a lot about most of them. Happy to get more second-hand immersion in this universe.

When i was a kid, Gallagher was the scariest thing about Puppet Master 1. Still is. He gives me the creeps.

Hilariously, there's a later set of Puppetmaster movies that tries to build continuity between all the earlier movies. It's basically unwatchable, but a noble effort.

For anyone curious, I'm pretty sure that "Bodega Bay Inn"' at the 7:10 mark of the video was filmed at Castle Green, a historical event venue/residence in Old Town Pasadena in Californa! (East LA area, where they do the New Years Rose Parade). Curious if they got the rights for that cuz that was definitely filmed from across the street, and I'm not sure the interior was actually of the venue. Also... Old Town Pasadena is quite nice, and the venue is very pretty. :) Would recommend.

Fuck yeah, Puppet Master franchise. What an early Christmas gift. Also, thank you for mentioning how shooting on film gives B-movies a certain feel that is far better than most modern b- movies. While some can shoot great lower budget b type movies on digital, most of the time, it makes them feel cheap, in my opinion. Even some blockbusters look worse when shot digitally. To me, there is a type of quality and feeling of "professional-ness" to b-movies shot on film. They feel more like a "real" movie.

I grew up on these films, Demonic Toys was similar. I was quite impressed with how good Puppet Master The Littlest Reich was that came out in 2018

They aren't continuity errors. The different Puppet Master movies take place in different universes, all part of the Puppet Master multi-verse. Puppet Master was way ahead of its time.

First watched these movies at my uncle's house in a big marathon when I was around 13. By that point I was already in love with weird old horror movies so I was thrilled.

No Jay, Berlin was not occupied by Nazis. It was inhabited by them. ;)

God, I love this franchise. That said, I wouldn't wish a full series watch-through on just about anybody. You've got to REALLY love these characters to make it through half of the sequels.

What an absolutely odd series. Like a fading memory of a childhood dream. You can be half way through one and suddenly realize that you have seen it before.

YESS!!! Puppet Master is my jam, I am extremely nostalgic for these (terrible) movies! I have seen all of them (Even vs. Demonic toys when it aired on SCIFI) and I even sat through Legacy! I am so happy right now
