welcome, friend! i don't mean to dump everything about this community on you all at once, but this track is part of a larger, overarching story, starting with her 2021 album 'fishmonger'. the story also includes 'boneyard aka fearmonger', 'Wallsocket', and a handful of other various singles. it also includes several non-music lore pieces scattered across platforms, mostly coming from/related to an ARG. i know that's a lot all at once, but i wanted to try and make your introduction as smooth as possible, so you kinda have an idea of what's going on here before you get into it all. hopefully this doesn't scare you away lol, this community is extremely passionate and supportive, and you're one of us as long as you like the music (and aren't a terrible person lol). we're happy to have you, and i hope you continue to enjoy April's music and style!

I don’t normally comment on RU-vid videos anymore but Underscores has genuinely changed my life. I was introduced via FishMonger and went back to the Skin Purifying Treatment EP and then after listening to to Wallsocket and Boneyard/Fearmonger for like a straight 3 months (for my sanity that my current job is eating by away at) I also noticed that if you dig around, there’s B sides and different versions of songs if you have the vinyl. I am a queer trans 1st gen Filipino-American, being able to see someone like me out there making music is so insanely inspiring, and with the raw trauma some of her songs depict it’s also very cathartic for me and has closed some bullet-hole-deep wounds. When I saw this pop up I shit you not, I almost dropped a whole bowl of cereal. April, please keep doing all that you do. Thank you for creating and thank you for being here 💛🏳️⚧️🇵🇭
@@earththeearthtbh i think it would work better between Ydek and Jjj. C&r into Locals is too iconic imo, and it doesn't feel right to go after Locals bc then the first 3 songs on the album all have similar energy. i also like how the intros/outros would feed into each other this way

sounds like it wouldve replaced "old money bitch" in the official album, but was removed due to it not fitting the album's narrative. the album follows the three girls while this seems to follow the town of wallsocket in general.
@@gotmilk9843 OK, so: - Darlene is one of the moms who lives in Wallsocket. She’s just gossiping at the start of the song - Jack is the guy who wants to go to war in Shoot to kill. This song establishes that he first started thinking about going to war when he killed a horse at age 12. - OMB is, obviously, the woman talked about in Old money bitch.

You known how April turns over a picture at the start of each verse in the video? Those are the narrators of each section. First is Darlene. She appears in the Cops and robbers music video as one of the moms in the supermarket as well as in one of the Wallsocket Chamber of Commerce TikToks and potentially also on the Moms of Wallsocket message board (there is a Darlene W. on there). Second is OMB's friend who wants to join the army and based on the description is named Jack. He's been in at least some of the music videos and is the person OMB is talking about in Shoot to kill... and Good luck final girl. OMB is third I'm just gonna assume you know who she is. Darlene had only been in paratext/arg stuff and Jack's name wasn't mentioned until now so it makes total sense why you wouldn't be familiar with either of them. If you wan't to learn more about the lore/arg stuff I would recommend checking out the "walldocket"-basically a big document of all the info compiled by fans (idk how up to date it is though). You can find it on the underscores discord or linked in a reddit post if you just look up "walldocket". the song shows three perspectives of citizens of Wallsocket after S*nny’s father, Joshua Domingo, mentioned in “Cops and robbers” embezzled money from a bank. the characters are darlene, jack and old money b****, in that order. each verse is a different character shown every time underscores pulls a cloth down with a new person on it. they all mention the bank robbery and their opinions about it
it's about s*nny questioning her catholicism because she is filipino and catholicism was only introduced to the philippines when the spanish colonised it (which the church helped in)
