This was a great, informative and inspiring show. Thanks for the truckloads of information, John and Adam! I think I've found the perfect system for the Metro: Last Light-esque game I've been thinking about.
Right around the whole Episode I had millions of hack Ideas for Blades. But the one that stood really out to me was a Blood Bowl like Hack. Maybe I try my head around this one.
rtyui136 I like the Idea of Deathsports as an RPG. And Blades seems Ideal for me to be hack for a Teambased Sportsgame. I don't exactly know if I would go directly for Blood Bowl or maybe I take my Ideas from Rollerball. I like the Idea of Bikes in my Hack. Atleast it's going to be a deadly Sportsgame.
I just wanted to mention that I am super glad you did these two videos. I had no idea Blades existed until this happened, and since it was posted, me and my group have gotten the early access and are getting ready to try it out. I honestly have no idea how we missed it. We've been super interested in crime-based games for ages, and I grew up on the Thief games, so this was right up my alley. So thanks for that. And thanks to John for creating this amazing thing.
I really wanna play this psychodelic space magic game Adam is talking about. Everytime we come to a planet the crew would just jump into a covertible and drop from space onto the survice, like the Intro of Heavy Metal
When I started playing SWN I just spent ages coming up with as many ship names as I could (I think I ended up with 100 or so). I ended up finding that certain names would lend themselves to certain types of crew (i.e pirates, smugglers etc). It's interesting to see Adam and John discussing a similar idea.
When you guys discussed how upgrades for the crew need to be stolen and how to replicate that in Womb of Night, my first thought was how technology might be super rare. Maybe mega warp drives aren't being produced anymore and the very limited amount of them that exists has to be stolen.
many of the systems described as possibilities for womb of night were also favourite features of mine in other systems, alternity did ships and random generation in a brilliant way, they even released a seperate free ship rulebook available at alternityrpg.net amazing considering it was published by WotC
Somehow it took me until now to realize that the core mechanics of Blades in the Dark are pretty much the blend of traits from Apocalypse World and Barbarians of Lemuria that I always wished someone would make.
@@AdamKoebel I totally agree that it's a great idea to use them as territory maps, and I'm now planning on using them in my own monster hunting Blades hack! I appreciate the inspiration. This site has a nice random generator if anyone needs it: alexbeutel.com/webgl/voronoi.html
