Very accurate, I have all of them. Luckily, I don't have an autoimmune disease, but I can add all of them to my list. One suggestion: could you make a video explaining how to deal with some of these symptoms? This could help a lot of people. Thank you :)

This is really interesting. Im autistic and I don't really have any stomach problems. I do have an overactive immune system though (mucus and all) and a tremendous amount of gas. I didn't realize my constant exhaustion was from the intensity of my senses.

I have a lot of problems with gas too. Do you do anything to help reduce your gas? I’ve tried ginger and changing my diet, but nothing really seems to help at this point.

A clean gluten-free and "mostly" sugar-free" diet helps me with that. Also, a good quality digestive enzyme before every meal@@ChrisandDebby

I have been doing gluten-free for a little while now and it does help a lot. (Not sure I'm ready for sugar free yet - love chocolate way too much) I'll have to research more about the digestive enzyme - thanks for the tip!

I loved this video! I laughed so many times because I relate so much, lol. I'm just learning about being autistic at 59 and content like this really helps me explain "me" to my friends and family. Thanks to you and Debby for starting this channel:)

Thanks so much for this comment - and we'd love if you share with your family and friends. That was our biggest goal for starting this channel and this project, actually! To help others understand autism, especially because it can be hard to put it all into words sometimes. Debby is working on videos from her own perspective (neurotypical POV) to explain what she notices and also help build understandings too. Coming soon - might be helpful for you and your friends/family as well :)

I just realized last January that I'm autistic whilst I was doing research on the co-occurrence of chronic illness, chronic pain, and mental disorders, things I have struggled with for most of my life. I am a 4th year psychology major and a total nerd about all things psychology and brain related. Needless to say, when the "light bulb" went on I descended down a rabbit hole of research on all things ASD and I'm still going! I've talked to my dad, my closest friends, and my siblings about my discovery and all of them agreed without hesitation! (I don't know whether to be offended or relieved, lol). I have begun the official diagnosis process by having an initial interview a few weeks ago and the first session of my assessment is the 24th of this month.@@ChrisandDebby

There is NO EFFING WAY that MY ASD/ADHD/OCD/GAD @$$ is giving up caffeine, EVA! Not happening. It's... my... PRECIOUS!!!! EDIT: OMFG... I think I have had beef jerky and salmon... dude... yes. IT SUCKS! Not the beef jekry and salmon... they're both great. Just the later feeling. EDIT2: I am eating grilled cheese and loberster risotto bites right now... I think I am going to pay for this later. EDIT3: Sleep... pisses. me. off. I prefer to to just wake up really early... like 4-5AM. It is like the best trade off. I still get the quiet nighttime to focus on what I want... but it helps me to be my best for the rest of the day. So much hell, though.... it is hard to wake up at 4-5AM (well rested) when you go to sleep at 3AM. I still wake up at 4-5AM... but I wish the house that landed on the Wicked Witch would just land on me and put me out of my misery. EDIT4: Dude... this is the first ever video of yours I have watched. Shitting a sail boat... omfg... yes, that is what people do in response to my crazy ass situation in bed. EDIT5: My answer to all of the suckiness and tension.... whiskey. And not just whiskey... having a fantstic collection of whiskey where you can curate it and be well satisfied, yet never satisfied, that your collection is amazing. It doesn't solve anything... but sometimes you're lulled into thinking it has solved everything... until you realize it as bad, or worse, than before.

This entire stream of comments totally made my day - both of us laughed really hard the first time we read it (easy on the caffeine, Smeagol), and that was before you added all the extra edits. May be returning off and on for some of my own additional edits. Also hope you'll continue watching and adding some of your own commentary - loved all the points. Hope the risotto bites didn't cause you too many problems! PS When you mention whiskey, have you tried bourbon? I may or may not have my own extensive collection of bourbon
@dus10dnd
@dus10dnd 8 месяцев назад
@@ChrisandDebby Yes, about 1/3 of my whiskey collection is bourbon. About 1/2 is rye, and the remainder is scotch. I have purchased several amazing finished bottles, lately. I have a couple of double oaked bourbons, a rum cask finished boubon, and then several sherry, cognac, and other fortified wine finished ryes.

Yes to it all. I have ASD / ADHD etc. diagnosed at 30 and didn't disclose until 49. I'm now 55. Ryland's Restful Leg (3 pills that dissolve) has stopped my same leg issue. Sometimes I need to take 3 more on one of my many up-to-pee moments. I have known where every bathroom is from childhood :=) Since being on the Carnivore diet, my GERD stops... that is of course until I eat my emotions... like this week. My work is accommodating and gives me the opportunity to work from home when there is a fire drill ♥ so that should be a good thing, but changing my routine is a bad thing... not as bad as a fire drill, but bad enough to NEED Reese's Big Cups ;=) hahaha so then add a pizza in and SHEESHAROOZY I go to a deeply dark place with depression, no desire to move, pain... etc. etc. etc. Now this week, I also added in two repairmen coming into my apt to fix things. Again, that is a good thing... but having people in my space that are not the one person I'm good with and my my my we are on the tilt-o-whirl. I sleep in 65 degree room with weighted blanket and all the things you talk about except switching out pillow, and I'm about to do that because I'm unhappy and just realized it's my pillow. I use a Manta blue tooth sleep mask with brown noise and it has really helped. By helped, I mean I actually get another hour... yip yip yippee I slept 3 hours instead of 2 ;=) You are doing a great job with your channel. Go forth and be AMAZING!

Thanks for sharing a bit of your experiences - it sounds like it’s been quite a journey. Haven’t heard of the carnivore diet before - will have to check that out. And I can really relate on the issues when my routines get thrown off and I have people in my space…hopefully the repairs are all done now? I’m also going to check out the sleep mask and restless leg help you mentioned. Also the sleep temperature made me laugh - sounds just like me!

I have the legs moving by themself when going to sleep. I realized there is a name for it - restless leg syndrome. It can be constant, but for me it is definately connected to amxiety. Really anoying and weird when my legs do the cha-cha while the rest of me wants nothing else but sleep.

Yep, all of the above. Part of my coughing is due to yeast long allergy post nasal drip too. And I haven't quite figured out what foods to not eat. But I know to not have caffeine in large amounts regularly and no dairy, chocolate, or mint in the 2-3 hours before bed or laying down for a movie. Which sucks because my most comfortiest of comfort foods involves all three of those. I would die happy if the last thing I ate was a brownie with mint chocolate chip ice cream and hot fridge on top.

My son is autistic and we used to think he was gluten intolerant. Turns out it's fortified flour or cereal - anything with added iron - that disagreed with him. I am also AuDHD and I don't have any stomach problems. I can eat anything and my stomach is like "this is fine".

Man, I have all of these. Sleeping is a nightmare since childhood (I am 43 year old woman now). The one that hit home most is the constant neck fu****** pain. It almost never goes away and yeah, it seems most of the time (when I communicate with not very familiar faces or at work) my neck and shoulders are kind of stiff. I go to massages from time to time, but it goes back to this again pretty quickly. I also do some exercises from time to time , but overall nothing helps permanently...HHhhh

I’ve always had digestive issues. Didn’t realise it’s related to my autism. Get so tired, I’ve always needed to sleep a lot. Get car sick easily. Always having sleep issues as I often wake up in the middle of the night, sometimes I’m awake all night. Terrible anxiety around people also. Restless leg syndrome drives me spare, that can really mess with my sleep. I always arrange three pillows to sleep, it’s impossible to sleep on one pillow, can’t stand laying flat. Love pillows.😂

It's challenging to learn about your ASD late, but is it helping now to understand better how to make adjustments in your life? That's been the real game-changer for me - I understand that there's certain things I struggle with and I'm trying to find ways to balance them out. But don't worry - there's not necessarily anything wrong with you, even if it feels really hard and like we need more time on things sometimes

Similar to your story about having to cross at the wrong light - I am just learning that I am autistic over the last few months. After first learning this I took a road trip with my family. I had breakfast all planned out to order at the Dunkin Donuts. Well, the internet lied to us and there was only a gas station. The gas station had similar items; no problem right? By the time I was done running around to find all the items for my kids, I just about had a breakdown over the idea of pouring my own coffee at the little coffee station. I mean, I was already STRESSED from the deviation from expectation. I started to cry. And this is the FIRST time, that I connected the dots in that moment, and realized hey, this is autism! Of course I'm overwhelmed. So I asked my husband to do it. 😅 In the past I would've felt childish and probably forced myself. But it would cause me additional distress; meanwhile, it won't affect my husband at all! So why take the hard route? I CAN do things for myself if needed, but I'm not trying to shorten my lifespan over here. Phonecalls are all him too. 🙃 I can't believe I've lived 30 years of my life like this just believing I'm just THAT broken. 😓 It's a relief to know my brain is just different, enabling me to seize on those strengths, AND explaining all these stupid little related symptoms I've experienced all my life, which you describe here!! 👍
@Ayverie4

I've REALLY had a fun time with anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue, and muscle pain over the years. I became my own health detective, and puzzled and puzzled over the cause of these things. Is it a thyroid problem? Underlying autoimmune disease?! Maybe... but also, autism!!! 🎉
@ChrisandDebby
@ChrisandDebby 6 месяцев назад
Nope! You're not broken! Just living in a world that isn't designed properly for your brain. It's such a great feeling knowing that there's a good reason for your behavior and feelings. It's your brain chemistry. I've been in similar situations. While I was on vacation in Dingle Ireland this past month, I was having some rough days. One of those days I had to wait in the car while my wife went in and bought us groceries. Thanks for sharing your story!!

Anyone trying to sell you a product to "detox" your body is SCAMMING you. If you have a functioning liver and kidneys, your body is detoxing itself just fine.
