It’s truly masterful. It drew someone like me, who doesn’t care for open world games, into putting over 300 hours exploring the lands between. And that’s only the base game. These devs are absolute masters.
ELDEN RING's open world truly defines what Open world games looks like, this is the first ever game i ever played that made me explore every nook and cranny, something not alot of open world game actually do.
Same. No game has come close to the sense of discovery and wonder. I used to say RDR2 was the best, and I’ll still say it is certainly the most detailed in terms of fidelity. Elden is not the most impressive in terms of fidelity, but the art style is fucking insane. The structure of the lands between and how it all connects (especially the DLC) seems impossible for humans to have made. It’s a game I don’t think we will see be topped for many many many years, if ever
Unfortunately, it doesn't work at all for me. Even Fallout 76 is much more fun for me. Elden Ring in particular is an example of a bad open world that makes no sense and makes the game worse rather than better. The loot in Elden Ring, for example, is mostly worthless. The crafting system seems contrived and many of the locations are repetitive. Elden Ring feels much more like Asasssins Creed than a Skyrim or Zelda. In my opinion, Elden Ring has far too much repetition for a really good open world, at the latest after the first 40 hours, you hardly experience anything interesting outside of the story. the 7 dragon is also boring. All the ruins look the same and have the same structure. There is hardly any story or lore. Elden Ring is always good for me when I leave the open world and go into the linear dungeons. This is where the great Souls feeling comes across, but not when riding around from A to B and collecting pointless crafting material. I generally like to play open worlds without a map and just explore them, and there are some like Skyrim, Fallout and Cyberpunk that are much more rewarding for exploring. And unlike Zelda and Death Stranding, it doesn't really use its world in a playful way. I just ride around and knock down enemies. No weather, no puzzles, no physics. But I'm also someone who has hundreds of hours in Fromsoftware games and knows their kind of game design inside out. I know where secrets are and how to find them. That's why for me it's more like working through the game and playing it by the book.
no, it doesn't get WORSE than elden ring. Elden ring is NOT an open world ... and despite that, it manages to feel EMPTY 😂😂😂 think about that. yeah, game of the year, clearly " it's like that kid in highschool that is popular" ... lmao, probably still living rent free in his head because samantha chose him instead for prom ... probably only because he showered more 😂, I really lost all respect for both fromsoftware fans and fromsoft themselves
