This video takes a practical approach as I go through the interface of Adobe Media Encoder, which both Premiere Pro and After Effects use, explaining what each of the sliders and checkboxes means and giving some guidelines about how and when to use them. You don't have to have seen my first tutorial first, but it will definitely help!

This tutorial follows on from my last tutorial, How Codecs Work. In that video, I explain the principles that codecs use to compress data efficiently - at least, I gave a good summary, since giving all the details would take weeks! They really are quite complex. vimeo.com/104554788

Really liked your video, the way you explain things, carry on the good work, very helpful. Please make more good videos like this covering after effects and primer pro etc, like color correction or like giving cinematic look etc. Also artifacts in final video, how we can prevent those. Thumbs up

Great Video, you have given me a greater understanding on this, however, I am having a little bit of trouble on my end. I am exporting a video from Premiere Pro to put onto a BluRay using DVD Architect 5. For BluRay, Architect only accepts MPEG2 and AVC. I exported the video as MPEG2 and the video comes out stuttery in random clips, but it plays back perfectly within Adobe Premiere. Even when burned to BLURAY its stuttery in those random clips. Ideas?

David, i have a quick question. i am trying to convert mp4 files shot on a mavic pro drone but when i import the the h.264 files the video looks good when previewed in quicktime but when imported into fcp 7 the video doesn't look as good as the original. do you think ProRes would work better than h.264? thanks

Your explanations are quite muddled. You should better plan what you are going to say in advance using a script, do a rehearsal, and do more takes then edit and insert clarified clip where it is not clear. The simple and obvious (more widely known) stuff you cover very well. It is the more complicated and less understood material which is important being that it is not well understood. When you stumble over your words, it shows that you also have a limited understanding of that particular topic. Do better research so that you can teach instead of dismissing it as not important. This is most evident where you speak about profile and level and a few other places.
