Great video Gordon, thanks! What I try to do after connecting the L'hotellier and the wedekind is try to push in the plunger again. If the connection is made properly, you cannot push the plunger in all the way, as the wedekind sleeve is blocking the plunger. If you can push in the plunger all the way, the wedekind sleeve was not properly engaged. And as explained in the video, you can only engage the wedekind properly if the ball is fully in the socket.
