Started watching your podcast during the playoffs and really love your detailed and analytical takes on the games, players and management. Also appreciate your thoughts on the Bowman situation, some of which I agree with, some I disagree with, and others I'm not really sure about. Should all of those involved have been banned from hockey for life or was the time they served enough, and if not how much time should they have done? I dunno. Your critique on hockey culture was good but it also applies to most of the other big money sports. Lotta examples from the football, baseball, basketball and soccer where sexual abuse, hazing and nepotism are equally as bad as hockey. Not just sports either: most big money institutions have these problems in spades. Your criticism of Bowman getting his foot in the door because of his family connections is valid but this doesn't mean he wasn't talented. He joined the Hawks in 2001 and I don''t think they would have given him the GM position unless he had been contributing towards the team's success. Family connections get a lot of people into good unis and jobs but that doesn't always mean they aren't decent students or workers. After their 1st Cup Bowman made a lot of bad trades and some bad contracts. Like Brisebois is finding out now, Cup winning players want more money and you can't keep everyone. Tough decisions have to be made. I think a lot of the bad trades Bowman made were done with his hands tied. Some of his contracts were bad - the Jones one especially, which as you pointed out, indirectly led to Nurse's horror show contract - but if you look around the league any GM who has been around for more than a few seasons has made some bad trades and signed some bad contracts. You seem to doubt he means it when he said he regretted the way he handled the Beach situation and his efforts to learn more about abuse and to try and contribute to making a better hockey culture, and also Sheldon Kennedy's support for Bowman. I really disagree with you on this after listening to them both talk and reading about what they've done. Of course I could be wrong, but so could you. No way of knowing for sure. Reaching out to Beach and him agreeing to work with Bowman said a lot to me and you didn't mention this at all. I think of all people, Beach wouldn't have done this had he thought Bowman was just using him to get back into hockey. What happened to Beach and the other victims who were later abused was horrible and hockey culture was a big part of why it happened. I was initially disappointed the Oilers hired him and not someone else as I thought there were better people available. I'm not sure Bowman will be a good GM for the Oilers or not but I really hope he uses the position to make hockey better and doesn't pull a Babcock and fall on his face. Anyways, I look forward to your future podcasts. Keep up the great work!

As a lifelong Hawks fan, let me say that I respected Quennville, but Bowman had worn out his welcome in Chicago. That said recycling these guys through the league again is disgusting and obscene. If all you get for covering up S.A. is having to go away for two years, then there are essentially no consequences for bad behavior The Hawks, with their zero tolerance policy terminated Cory Perry's contract without a sniff from the union, and he signs with the Oilers. WTF is that? The league obviously thought he screwed up bad enough to violate his contract, but essentially no punishment beyond signing for less money, and then suing the Hawks for breach of contract and back pay. Hockey is a great sport being ruined by its management.

Stan Bowman maintained the Blackhawks 2013 and 2015 Stanley Cup teams. He did not put the core together. Mike Smith, Bob Pulford and Dale Tallon built the 2010 Cup team and the core that won 3 cups. Given the fact that the Oilers haven't won the Stanley Cup, the oilers are putting a lot of faith in Bowman to build a champion.

Using a movie to make your point is questionable. You do not know how honest the story lines in the movie are. Provide proof that the culture in hockey is corrupt. Anecdotes do not provide proof. It appears you are in your own bubble. Bowman did not commit the abuse! You put a lot of your thoughts in other peoples minds.

Prove it's not 😋 There are many firsthand accounts of people not being accepted and actually being bullied in an attempt to get them to quit the game because they are different then the average conservative straight white male player. Especially black players. I'm not one of those straight white male haters, as I am one haha, but it is a matter of fact that the games leaders cater to them. I get the strong impression you are just trying to stir shit up based on your multiple comments trying to tear Nick down. Ironically and hilariously counter intuitive to his initial monologue of negative feedback benefitting his engagement, boosting algorithm presence, and getting his voice heard to more people lmao. Good job! It's really not hard to find proof of a corrupted culture that caters to the "in club" that doesn't like being disrupted or inclusive. You just gotta Google a bit. I'll even start you off with one for free. Look up Madison Bowey's story in the Players Tribune. It's an excellent read and really puts the culture of hockey into perspective for the average fan.

I’ve looked at all your whiney comments and it’s very obvious to everyone you are trying to hide the skeletons in your closet you are clearly scared of someone coming forward and saying something about you

You CANNOT separate politics from sports. People like to think they’re not political, but that’s bullshit. Politics is everywhere and trying to avoid hard discussions just makes the politics toxic and harder to fix. We need to talk about these things more and the incentive structures that govern our lives. Your analysis and understanding make me wonder where you studied poly sci/sociology at?
