I came here from the short, and as you may have noticed many people ask what your example of "shoved in Calvinistic teaching" is. I was hoping to find that context here, but I don't. So as the lowest ranked comment in the short said, don't be proud in your preaching.
Hi! May I know what Tim's referring to 51:35 about reformed and calvinistic teachings? As far as I know, not all reformed people have the same conclusions on certain subjects (e.g., covenant theology, eschatology, church government, baptism, etc.). Looking forward to your clarification. Thank you!
I can't speak for Tim as far as what specifics came to his mind when he made that statement, but yes, I imagine some of the examples you gave would be part of what he would share.
I have question, so just today i go to mall, and a buddhist lady try to convert me to buddhism (i was ex buddhist before i become Christian) She bend few word in Bible, like aaying Jesus is Holy Spirit, so she can use it as excuse for reincarnation Then she also bend that Bible written that the way to go to heaven is by carrying cross according her, she try use this to justify karma and reincarnation stuff I dont believe her, and i do say that she and me have different opinion on it, i dont buy her words coz i have my set of revelations that made me choose God and trust Him My issue is afterward, my mother say she hear voice telling her to tell me to not speak with people like that, just ignore them I must say my mother is a non-confrontative person, instead she is a passive aggresive person when handle something Am i wrong to defend my faith and not to led this buddhist evangelist lady to not have wrong idea? She did show her intention, she wishing to bring me to meet her monk and their temple, she also say about her concern that people that go to their temple be reduced I am understand her, and i totally okay However i felt bad, and guilty for what my mother do My mother not a pious Christian too, but she like to say she hear voice that warn her etc, yet i find what her say it mean to make me to lose my confidence to share gospel and be brave So am i wrong to be straight forward on my faith? And to add it as context, i am not the one that open that discussion, it's the lady I just find my mother words try to hinder me by using God And the culture in nation is very unconfrontional, and i rarely see Christian do evangelist mission except Jehovah Witness Am i wrong to be bold when God dont give us spirit of fear? Should i must be silent and nodding when someone say is full of lies or try ignore them without addressing the misleading information? I will hope anyone can tell me how to think on this issue And while i at go with the buddhist lady, my mother keep bothering our discussion and try pull me back Idk how to understand this
@vonn2221 The Bible says these (refer to the phrases with italics), so you're not wrong to defend the faith :) Jude 3 (NASB) - 3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you *_contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all time handed down to the saints._* 1 Peter 3:15 (NASB) - but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, *_always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect_* 2 Timothy 2:24 -26 (NASB) - The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, skillful in teaching, patient when wronged, 25 *_with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition_*, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.
I have noticed that Tim seems to get softer as he gets older ( this is not a bad thing) I was wandering if @Illbehonest if this happens as we get more mature because I also see it in piper in Macaurthor
I would say that is definitely a factor, I remember watching one sermon by paul washer when he was much younger and a very similar one when he was older and both containing the same truth from the Lord but the delivery was softer and more meek not at all a negative just wonderful way to observe God’s grace and faithfulness in growing us
Sure it is a sign of maturity. But not necessarily. Listen to Leonard Ravenhill and watch him preach. He was miles up the road spiritually then many christians
@@makelaquinn6932 Paul Washer actually admitted in a sermon that he was convicted watching Joel Osteen that he was might not be encouraging. Maybe that change reflects that.
