Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers is the fifth studio album by American rapper Kendrick Lamar, released on May 13, 2022, by PGLang, Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records. The double album is Lamar's first studio album release since Damn (2017), his first album release under his creative collective PGLang, and his final project with TDE; of which he released four albums under the label and was one of their flagship artists.
The album features narration by Whitney Alford and Eckhart Tolle, and guest appearances from Blxst, Amanda Reifer, Sampha, Taylour Paige, Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah, Baby Keem, Kodak Black, Sam Dew, Tanna Leone, and Beth Gibbons of Portishead. Lamar, who executive produced the album under the pseudonym Oklama, reunited with frequent collaborators Sounwave, J. Lbs, DJ Dahi, and Bekon for the majority of the album's production.
Upon release, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers was met with widespread acclaim from critics, who praised Lamar's lyricism and the album's scope, although a few found it inconsistent. The album has so far spawned two singles; the European release "N95" and the North American release "Silent Hill". It debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, becoming Lamar's fourth US number-one album.

dude please find an audio equalizer and reupload these, the track songs are way too loud compared to your voice, not to mention in part 1 the random songs you play in between are like 5-10 times as loud and literally made me not want to finish watching, these are great videos they just need some polish

And, in the context of the album, Mother I Sober mirrors not only N95 which is the reverse order mirror track of the first half of the album (which is about Kendrick venting about societal ills like a preacher, demanding that the masks, layers of lies that we cover ourselves with in order to fit in, be taken off, but failing to take responsibility for his own problems), but also We Cry Together, which ends with the characters in the drama using lust as a coping mechanism to "tap dance around the subject" and avoid facing the deeper problems of the relationship, which diffuses the argument but allows for the cycle of toxicity and abuse to go on.

I got sober from drugs/alc the day this album dropped Friday the 13th. I was drinkin or druggin everyday and got into a deep depression. Woke up in the ER that Friday morning and had to go to detox, started listening through the album on the way there. Haven’t picked up since and i largely credit that to listening through this album during my stay. I remember listening to Mother, I sober the first time in there while going through withdrawals and just breaking down. Having my first few listens to this while detoxing was truly a spiritual experience, and felt like the album was made for me. There are no coincidences, everything is everything. You could say his “calling was right on time”. God bless King Kendrick

"Mother I sober" For me this song has shown me my imperfections and anger I project on my loved ones especially since the death of my grandmother or as I called her (my second mother).dealing with the abandonment of my parents and family that grow in anger and my toxicity by feeling as if I have to be validated to be loved with the only person who has ever shown me love passing away anger I projected on my partner and my mother but kindness to my father.... It showed me I can't choose everone and can't please everone especially if i can't even love myself or look myself in the mirror This song shows the generational anger in my family and greed also trying to fit in or be validated by others. Qualities I have seen in everyone in my family. And will not let this cycle control me as it did my family.

This album came to me during a really dark period of my life. I had lost my grandfather, the only member of my dad's family who cared for me, my abusive ex had broken up with me 2 weeks after the funeral, then 2 weeks after that my grandmother passed from covid. My parents disallowed us to see her before she passed or attend her funeral, and my ex used that low point to reenter my life. When MM&TBS dropped, I was a broken person - struggling to take care of my younger brother, I had nobody to turn to besides someone who had hurt me deeply during a vulnerable moment in my life. I was deeply suicidal, still struggling with unemployment (disability) and my PTSD had worsened. Unable to turn to anyone, I sat on an empty street at 1am to scream and cry and apologize because I knew nobody was there to hear me. Hearing "united in grief" when the album first dropped when Kendrick said "I grieve different" hit me hard because of how the people around me commented that it seemed like I didn't care. Hearing it in concert and screaming that line with everyone was cathartic. MM&TBS gave me the strength I needed to kick my abusive ex out of my life for good, and it gave me the cause to keep going. Kendrick dropped this album about him and his journey, but it changed my life when I had nearly given up. He'll always be King Kendrick to me.

When this album dropped in may, I felt too uncomfortable to listen to it, it’s something i wasn’t prepared to bare listening to. Nearly an exact month later in June I suffered a severe panic attack, which was from smoking, which had been a terrible addiction of mine for a while, ever since I’ve been sober off it Ive felt so much better not having to rely on it… I slowly began to digest the album more and more as I finally felt more comfortable listening to it but I still didn’t understand it entirely, when I saw the big steppers tour live in tampa it hit me spiritually and brought me much closer to the album and I realized what a piece of art it truly is, I don’t even think I can describe yet what this album means to me, but it will always be an album that’s close to my heart. Inspirational and much deeper than music. So many important topics, I feel bad for those who overlook this album because it doesn’t contain the desired radio banger. This is healing through art, and even though the albums directed towards himself, it’s marked an impact on so many people already. Thank you Kendrick.

This video was absolutely amazing, and made me realize just how amazing this album is. I see that I could barely say I even saw the tip of the iceberg when it comes down to just how nuanced this album is. "Mother I Sober" was incredible. It was heavy and real and raw. But I held it together until I heard his daughter's voice at the end of the song, and that marked the first time that a hip hop song ever drove me to full-on tears. I believe that MMatBS is his best record, and that this song in particular will go down as an important moment in music history.

Like you said mother I sober is very deep and would enjoy hearing a full breakdown. I’m becoming a 🧽 listening to the different things and processes he has used as a means of recovering from trauma and truly healing, as that journey is different for everyone, he shows us that it is possible. I agree with the point you made about removing external validation from your list of necessities in life because how will anyone love themselves if they only feel love for themselves when someone else tells them ok. It’s a vicious cycle that we all are a part of! On another note… I think that many of these songs can lend a lot to specific situations that we may be dealing with in or lives when a song or verse or even a part of a verse enters our eardrums kind of like you said when you first heard Mother I Sober and how you shook while writing the script because how deep certain messages truly moved you. To me that’s why I love music and try to listen to as many different forms as possible because underneath it all were all struggling and sometimes our stories and experiences can benefit one another more than we may know! As always great job! No copyright infringement this time!! Take care🤙

Actually I've dealt with a sexual Abused When I was young. It has a black male it is a very challenging thing trying to not only accept that happens but then tell others. most people just pushed black men into the stereotype to just deal with that kind of stuff with more sex or it's not that serious. Even with my mother when I mentioned it to her she doesn't take it that serious yes but I feel like she has also as also explained about how she was talked to by older men when she was younger and even though she never realized as it has grooming or something wrong think wrong she lived through it and because she lived through it But I think in that strength maked her thought I would be able to deal with similar problems in a similar way. But especially with me dealing with disability and not being able to work it's it's very hard to deal with on top of a lot of other stuff that I end up having to deal with because of situational fsituational factors like my stepfather talking tothey're choking me or Experiencing sexual assault in my own home and Even when I would go out to conventions. But every time at least for me I was never able to do anything about it and whenever I did I would get get ignored or even if I got physical I would just beat up. And I'm honestly lucky that I lived in the suburbs. With all the outbursts that I ended up having throughout my young years until I was able to start smoking and be able to manage my stress in anger. It immediately gets undermined by my disabilities and just not being able to deal with stuff. And it definitely affect me badly because I'm always looking at all these other black males able to do so many things but then I'm not able to and then whenever I and whenever I talk to people it's never never understanding of my disability maybe initially but once the problem comes about most people just don't know how to deal with it but then it just leaves me by myself.
