@dawidhandzlik494 zero business sense Caught lying about slaughterhouse verses/drama multiple times Caught talking shit behind every one of his associates backs ever Caught stealing Rhymes Openly hates on more successful younger artists Called out by his exes for abuse I mean the guys a p.o.s
the original title “Life is Like a Box of Chicken” is crazy seeing how the story told in “Duckworth” is about how unpredictable life is and how Kendrick’s dad working at a KFC and thinking quick basically saved his life and protected his son’s future. Truth is Stranger Than Fiction.
I was thinking the same thing, crazy! Altho I think he might have meant it was a working title for DUCKWOTH before it go its final name. That would have been a fire title too if that's the case.
Honestly, if they have a Job that's remote or don't have a lot of meetings. They just listening to random music during the working hours. Go home and cook up
@@jadawngriffis3745You Absolutely Right! Personally, I work Hybrid 2 day in office and 3 at home. But when I'm driving a hour one way to work I'm listening to everything outside of the US. (Friends jump in car and be like WTF are you listening to?. Rhythm is Rhythm no matter the language.) Now for Producing, at this point you have to be unique. Everyone is chasing to make "This Type Beat". Make music for you and that is Way Outside Of The Box. Currently I'm listening to Lebanese and South Korea music which my GF Hates, But she wont ever understand an Sampling and Creating Ear. Unique is Unique.
For my fellow beat makers check out radioooo that shit is dope for finding samples besides RU-vid but yea I can relate I was just on a flight last night with a 3 hour layover what did I do listen to my libraries and take notes of time stamps where I found something. I also find myself enjoying a lot of the music I listen to
a rapper can only make so many songs. if you have passed on hundreds of dope beats, that means you have a lot of dope beatmakers sending you their best shit
Nah, Common just has certain sound he sticks to. Like house music, jazz and blues type beats. He's more of a Poet than a rapper. That open mic night kinda vibe.
It's always interesting to hear what "classic" and "iconic" works in someone's discog were completely tossed by someone else, it always makes for interesting "what if" ponderings. I'm definitely glad these all went to Kendrick, along with Pharrell's "Alright" beat that was originally intended for Tyga (which sounds like an insane song arc even before you hear the demos 😂😂)
Definitely the Hiatus Kaiyote beat was my favourite. I even made a version of DUCKWORTH where it’s just that beat the whole time with an alternative intro
@@MyKeal Just look up “DUCKWORTH but it’s just the 3rd best beat (extended cut)” under my artist channel ‘Jinji’ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Zv1teHKjzpY.htmlsi=2kYgHZkszIe1c5_L

Thanks for making this vid! Informative. Kendrick’s tweet & meet is an amazing story! I’m glad he got to rap about his father in music made by someone he also respected
I wouldnt use the word "rejected" it makes it seems like these artists are passing the beats off as "trash" the truth is a rapper might go though 20-100 great beats a day to find one to record to, its just finding the one that fits u artistically personally and that fits your present mood and what ur trying to express at the time
Love Kendrick and 9th, so, naturally, I was uber amped when I first heard Duckworth. Navie comin' with the fire content as always. I'ma go rewatch the vid on Kanye's unwanted beats just cus 🔥
@royalty_the1892 serato sample is worth the money, not sure if that's in your price range or not. Otherwise just use the daw sampler until you're ready to spend the money
That hiatus kaiyote section was my favorite. I discovered them from a friend after hearing this song and it took a while for me to catch the sample from listing to duckworth and I was blown away. Love that entire track.
@@chiarosuburekeni9325🧢🧢 that Game album has some of his best…On Me (he actually had a better verse than kendrick on), Dont Trip, Dollar & a Dream, Step Up, Summertime i actually go back to this album more than i ever did Damn 🤷♂️
@@chiarosuburekeni9325 umm actually he was working on either 1992 or Documentary 2 at the time and both of those albums were good. He was far from washed
The second beat just brings me to a different place than the other 2. Vocal driven beats have always been my favorite, especially as this one has a "choral" style to it
Also, could please talk about Kendrick's The Heart Pt. 4 track in a your future video? That song has several distinct sections which go together very well, and I'd love to hear about it.
I rarely write comments, but I make an exception for you, since the videos are really cool. It would be cool if you made a new version with an analysis of 9th Wonder techniques, like you did about other producers
Duckworth is fucking god tier. Def among the top 20 tracks in hip-hop. The songwriting is fucking incredible. Reminds me of Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst on good kid m.A.A.d city. Kendrick’s longer narrative tracks are p much always 10/10.
That's why the beat switch was so seamless. I've listened to many songs where the beat switches without seamless transition, it's like a new song was playing, i.e. Travis Scott's "STARGAZING." Then some songs I've listened to, oversaturate the song with beats that are not cohesive, i.e. Beyoncè's "House." What made me enjoy that beat for DUCKWORTH was the fact 9th kept the same kick and bass and all three were soul based samples.
Fun fact: I had no idea 9th sampled Ostra vi for Kendricks song, and ended up chopping it up for a song I did with my production class. I happened to use that "too busy" section and made a FIRE song called High infinite power! Check it out! Terry Borderline - High infinite power! Also great video as usual! I always look forward to these EDIT: An even CRAZIER coincidence is I have a line in the song where I say "write 9ths that wonder" bruh you cannot make this up! 😮😮
Chopping like that is something I mess around with but I always think it sounds messy.. It probably is but I wonder if some unique drums could have saved some beats
That's funny too, because the main reason I never got into Common is because most of his songs don't pass that first vibe check before I skip it. Just not feeling the beat. Never listened to a full song of his until Go! And realized he's actually pretty dope.
The second sample is a great beat but it really gets carried by the sample since Ostavi Trag is such a beautiful song in its own right. I recommend everyone give it a listen because. When I expand my range a bit more I wanna learn to sing the intro myself, or at least the bass and baritone parts.
