Understanding Multi-Tool Spawn Pools | No Man's Sky 2022 

I was watching this great video by WBG this mornin', and it got me thinkin'... --Prof.Cynical It's often been reported that crashed ships (& I think cabinets too) respawn after 48 hours real time. I'd verify this... But I'm not a Tuber! --------- You might have explained why to avoid Outlaw Systems for this method of MT hunting So for those interested: S-Class cabinets are rare, thus A-class are what you're typically looking for (though S is great when it happens) Odds of S-Class: Outlaw: 5%, 3☆: 2%, 2☆: 1% 1☆: 0% So for S-Class, yes Outlaw is best. But... Odds of an A-class: Outlaw: 5% 3☆: 28% (thus Odds of S/A-class are 10% & 30% respectively) 2☆& 1☆: I dunno, Google it, then go find a 3☆ system This also pertains to: Freighters, Capital Ships & StarShips, thus for these items Outlaw Systems are best as only S-Class matters (only noobs use nanites... and grizzled vets sick of wasting hundreds of hours waiting for that F&*$%,:#ING S-Class to Spawn!!!) Note: many people have stated S-Class StarShips in Outlaw Systems will not get Max Stats. (Hol'up... I'm supposed to wait for S-Class Ships with MAX Stats to spawn??!!! EFF this game, I'm going to play Candy Crush!) This doesn't apply to Freighters/Capital ships or MT's (always check SS cabinets)

I was watching this video earlier and had just happened to come across an S-class cabinet in a space station while exploring around hours later. Luckily the video explained pretty well how rerolling the multi-tool works and I was able to make the most of it and get one of those alien tools from it! Thank you very much for the info!

Hello There... Definitely a much better video, it's a complicated subject but I think you did a very good job explaining it. I think I'll have to rewatch some parts of it but that's simply because it is a bit of a process.

Most important tip while Multi tool hunting is patience. I never thought I had an ounce of patience until I started my journey of Multitool hunting. Great video as always WBG.

At the start of the video I was like totally clueless about most of what you were talking about but by the end I understood. I felt like I was actually learning throughout the entire video which is what kept me watching. There's not a lot of people that can make videos like this so I was really impressed. I hope you've got more videos like this for everything else in the game coz so far the only negative thing I've found with the game is it doesn't convey it's mechanics very clearly so videos like this are what make up for it. The new sentinel multitools released in the latest updates look really cool, have good slots especially when you upgrade them, and are totally free once you find them (you do need to get repair components for them, but they’re mostly simple items you find on dissonant planets anyway.) and Their stats are actually pretty good at base. My B class sentinel multitool was practically maxed out at damage potential with a couple weapon upgrades and weapon mods installed and out classed other A class multis I was coming across. Will have to do more comparisons with some of these other S class gems to get a better perspective though I suppose

Took me the entire video to grasp what you where conveying but it finally clicked. My current multitool is an s-class and I got it from a space station! Just have to figure out which system it was from and I can begin my multi-tool hunt. Thanks!

can confirm this method works. spent like 4 hours and over 100 minor settlements but i did find a S-Rank Rifle that has the colours i want.

Thanks a lot for your super clear guide. I luckily found an AClass experimental Rifle at space station yesterday and am now searching for 6ish hours for the S class cabinet on the planets. I started on a moon but after visiting like 80-90 settlements (writing down the coordinates so I know where i am), the charts began to redirect me to the same locations, so i switched to the nearby paradise planet.... after 15-20 settlements, still no trace of the S class cabinet, but I found after a reload that the planet pool has an experimental Pistol haha. Well, totally a needle in a haystack, but i perservere since i don't want to use the Coordinate exchange. I want my own tool :)

Very well explained though it definitely was a lot to take in. I was planning to use this info to at least get ahold of an A rank tool but believe it or not while just randomly exploring this morning (not even looking for a new tool yet) I came across a random minor settlement. It had an S class tool! Needless to say my jaw dropped. I'm fairly new to the game so I didn't know what type of tool it was, how good it was, etc. All I knew was that it was an S rank and my current tool was a B rank and they only wanted about 1.2 million units for it. Instant buy and it has served me very well so far.

Make sure you leave a save beacon when you find the cabinet you want! If you forget and leave to go reload on another planet, you'll quickly want to kick your own ass. ESPECIALLY if you found an S class cabinet.

Just to add if the tool you find in the cabinet someone posted to nmsce is still an s class but not the tool you're looking for it usually means you've reloaded at the wrong place ,the pools seem consistent even after updates ,but if its a different class ,it means the s class cabinet has changed and needs rediscovering,unless it's now an outlaw system Which is another totally different discussion. Also if you find a decent b class in the space station it's worth checking on planet to see if its a native a class ,have found some decent s class mts this way .

I know I'm commenting on an older video. But I do have a question. Has the recent change to the space stations changed your methodology? Now we have 2 cabinets in the space station. Thanks. I find grinding the nanites is more entertaining than reloading a save point repeatedly. Unless you’re a min max player I guess.

Great video. I don't understand why they make it so hard to find an S class multi-tool compared to let's say an S class ship.

Good job. I spent time watching Austintaceous to learn these concepts. You covered them all. I would state that his average is about 45 minor settlements before popping the S class cabinet. I have found S class cabinets as quickly as "3" and my record for the the longest grind is 145. It takes patience ....

Found an S class case in Outlaw system station.

I watched this video 3 times.. and then I visited 80 minor settlements on the same planet... needed a break so went to a pirate system and lo behold! an S class cabinet, so visited the planets and loaded an experimental MT it only has 10 slots , 2 supercharged one of which is in a top corner (cost 100k units). Is this the worst possible S class? I won't upgrade it as it will work out cheaper to use nanites on my A class MT, but I am glad I found one... now I am ready to start anew on permadeath. Thanks for your tutorial.

I went to a violent planet today. I went to a random minor settlement I just happened to fly over. I Wasn’t expecting much but to my surprise there was an s class mt. First one I’ve ever come across. Thanks god. I thought i was going to have to raise tens of thousands of nanites, which didn’t sound fun.

As someone who posts regular s class finds, the one video i keep being tempted to make is the " so u cant find my multitool , heres why " video, but thats mainly out of frustration. Despite the reddit bot auto posting the blurb about checking the glyphs, galaxy, etc etc, the number of people who say its not the right planet cause they have misdialled , or are in Euclid and the tool is in Eissentam, or they have reloaded on the wrong planet. Then tnere is the issue with the cabinets flipping class bug sometimes. Its frustrating people cant take a min to follow instructions , i feel u may know my pain.

Not sure that you mentioned that minor setlements are more numerous than Starbucks.Just visited my 75th minor settlement, wife is threatening to go to the pound and get a rescue dog to feed my dinner to. Still not a S class cabinet found. Hope all of the ones I visited stay marked till I can go at it again. You promis there is an S cabinet on every world? Good video, still hopeing for success.

Once I find a MT sent to the cabinet I want, and then begin my minor settlement hunt on said planet's pool, do I only need to check four minor settlements for the S-class or just keep going ang going until I find it. 1) kudos on a great tutorial. 2) my god finding the S-Class cabinet can take a lot longer than just 20 nav data or attempts (I think this latest one took more like 100) 3) but, when you do… experimental gun for me. I do have a question: do all planets have an SClass cabinet, if they are in a wealthy system? I ask because, if they all do, the best place to look would be the planet with the least population, and buildings. If not, it’s totally random. Either way, thanks for the tips. They worked, even though the grind was almost enough to make me quit trying. Also, I’m never ever ignoring an SClass cabinet on a space station again. You’ve cured me of that disease. I’ll even rename those systems on upload from now on, so they’ll be marked if anyone ever runs across one of my finds.

Bit late to the hunt, but if I've understood this correctly - Each system has a max cabinet class based on the system's econ ranking. The richer the system the higher the chance there be A-S cabinets. - Each planet has it's own cabinet range. (i.e. a base "A" class cabinet planet will have an "S" class cabinet somewhere on the same planet) (base "B" class cabinet planet has "A" somewhere on the same planet etc.) - Pools deals with Weapon type, you can reset the weapon type drawn from the pool by reloading save on the same location. (A system has one pool of up to 4 weapon types) - The shop in the Space Station draws from all the system's cabinets and pools.

so home many multi tools are there?......lol.....good video whisky well done.

So I went to a outlaw station that had an A class Sentinel MT that looked like an Alien MT. When I reloaded on a planet it had turned into a C class pistol. Now its back as a C class Sentinel MT that looks like an Alien MT

I found an S cab in a station, but when I reload, it's the same tool. I'm trying to find an Alien tool. Does reloading still change the pool? Edit: oh, I have to land on a planet and reload, not reload at the station.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I'm surprised it wasn't mention there could be a benefit to putting bases on each planet and installing just a teleporter (with power). As I understand it each planet could have both an A class and an S class tool and either can work in the S class cabinet once you find it. So once you find that S cabinet keep warping back to each planet to reload and try for a different of the "two" potential tools that could work in the S class cabinet. I guess it depends also how much materials are throw away for you at this point in the game. The prospect of flying between planets over and over sounds "ugh" (I do have a fully upgraded pulse engine exotic).

If I don't care about Class....but just want Any Alien would it make sense to do this: enter system find C-Cabinet. loop through all planets. find B-Cabinet. loop through all planets etc up to A. to do an Exhaustive search of all Pools at all Ranks? Wouldn't this have a chance of revealing MTs that your Abort at Phase1 strategy might miss?

Hy. I just want to brag a bit. :D Now on my first legit game (I had a 100H on a "not oficial wersion") my starter sistems space station has a S rank multytool holder and the sistems best wersion weapon is from my starter toxic word. In looks nothing special but to get this at the start is amazing.

I know I’m late to the party, but I was curious if Sentinel Pillars also act as mt cases or if they’re something different?

I just have 1 question: When hunting for S class cabinet and you see a B class CABINET, is it even possible for that planet to HAVE an S class cabinet, or do you need to find a different planet to hunt for the S class cabinet? I know that the TOOL can only change 1 tier, but if the space station showed the desired tool at A, do you also have to find a planet that has A tier cabinets?

I've replayed this video at least fifteen times and in parts and it still isn't sinking in. On the purge quest line I finally came across a binary star system. Three planets plus the space station. And on the first planet I are you Get A reload different tool then a C and each reload at same Settlement only the stapler model loads A or C . Unless recent patches have messed up this model or this algorithm does not work during the Purge mission line.

I have a question, does every planet have a natural MT of each class? Do natural S class MT's exist? It does seem that as explained, there should be 2 tools in each pool that can fit in a given cabinet class. Is there any way to choose between those two, or will one of the choices always be overridden?

Reloading on a planet doesn't seem to reload the station loot pool anymore. Has it been patched/updated in the game?

Nice guide, remind me I used to hunt multi-tool too, but I don't have the patience. Nowadays my best attempt for hunting S-Class is a crashed ship one, using living ship method.

how does the anomaly fit into this method if it is in the system? does it just add 1 more tool to the pool or totaly throw things off?

Whiskey, can you please guide me on a question? I have just started checking out multitool hunting. I spawned an alien mutitool from a planet to the space station. (A class cabinet). I then went back to the planet to see if I could find the S class cabinet to see if I could get it to spawn there. I found an S class cabinet. However, when I did the reload to see if I could get a different weapon to spawn, the cabinet changed to a C class cabinet. Do you think this was/is a glitch? Or did I do something incorrect? Thank you for your time.😀 I am continuing to find the alien tool in either A or B class, but I'm not sure if I should continue my hunt or just simply take the A class win LOL.

So there is still one thing very unclear to me: I found a toll I want in an A class cabinet from the ss pool on a planet. Now I would like it to move up a class by spawning it in an S class cabinet. How exactly do I find a S class cabinet? Is there a chance that the planet I am on does not have an S class cabinet? How do I know when or if I have to change to a different planet to find the S class cabinet?

Quick question. I've followed this guide and found an A class cabinet at the space station, then went to all the planets and eventually found an experimental tool. I go back to that planet to find the S class cabinet, but the tool on that planet is different from the one it sent to the station. What am I doing wrong or how do I correct this?

Question! I stumbled into a system with an S-class Space Station cabinet (Very lucky)! Now, I went through all the system's planet's pool, and none of them sent an Alien or Experiment to the cabinet. My question is: Is there a possibility for an Alien or Experiment weapon to show up in the S-class Space Station cabinet?

You were pretty super unclear about what native classes are .Do you mean that certain models are innately a certain class? Because in my travels I've seen literally every model in S class.

All that. If you are at the point of this guy. If it spawns an A just upgrade, it. It will or could save you hours, days or weeks trying to get it. Most people worth billions in the bank have 100,000s of nanites they'll never use. Without even trying I have 50,000 nanites and really nothing to spend it on. When I get that tool as an A it's easier to upgrade.

Not dissing your video; there was a time when a lot of this was a lot more important.....however updates have changed everything......Classes can be purchased w/ nanites......Class isn't as important now as much as what the pools designs actually are......Secondly, modding the game again changes everything (for the better, if done right).
