In this video I talk about your Gallbladder. More specifically your Gallbladder on a Keto Diet. We also get into Gallbladder Stones a.k.a Gallstones, what cause gallbladder stones and how to prevent Gallbladder Stones.
If you're new to the Ketogenic Diet it's important to understand how your body is going to react. It's especially important to understand how your Gallbladder will react to a Keto Diet.

Most common questions I get ...
1) "Doc, what BLOOD KETONE METER do you recommend?"
ANSWER: FORACARE: bit.ly/2QKGmKG (Promo-code: Dr.Boz)
It's accurate and takes only ONE test-strip to get results. YES!!
2) "Doc, what can I have while fasting?"
Salt + water are best.
Pocket Salt: bit.ly/31ypeen (Promo code: DrBoz)
Salt Sucking Rocks: bit.ly/3bkpZMl (Promo code: DrBoz)
Sounds weird but it's strangely satisfying.
Black coffee - I prefer cold brew coffee.
Fasting tea. My favorite = Pique Tea Instant Crystals:
Bergamot Black Tea: bit.ly/2T5Ej3d
Pique Teas have great flavor and the highest antioxidants possible. They
freeze dry their tea into crystals. Pique Tea acts like instant tea ... with
GREAT TASTE. Not bitter. Not moldy.
Ketones-In-A-Can is also a nice option during a fast. If you have to have
something, use ketones to strengthen your metabolism during your fast.
Bone broth bit.ly/3asMa1G
3) "Doc, how do you know if you're eating the right fat?"
Measure it. Your Red Blood Cells keep track of the fat you eat. The "skin"
of your red blood cells show the answer. Order the test and do it at
home. Mail it in for your results. No doctor's order needed.

Have been watching your videos for a few weeks now and learned a lot of great information....like what foods to eat and what to avoid to be on keto....BUT....since this diet essentially involves cooking your own foods....I am in need of some step by step recopies that YOU approve for a keto diet....perhaps you can do some step by step videos on actual meal preparations....such as for breakfast...lunch....dinner...and in between....especially a meal that is the proper balancing of calories for fats (70-75%) and proteins (20%) and carbs (5%). I think it would be really helpful for many people. Thanks:)

I really appreciate your videos Dr Boz. Thank you for what you do. I have a question regarding the gallbladder that I rarely hear answered thoroughly. I understand a healthy gall bladder. I understand keto without a gall bladder. But what about a non-functioning, poorly functioning, small stones holding, soon as I eat fat I have pain type of a gall bladder. I have had such great success on keto but a friend of mine with the above bad gall bladder thinks she could never do keto. She has lost over 100 pounds by A LOT of exercising and sticking to a low fat, high protein, mid carb diet. She just said "I was told I could never do keto because of my gall bladder." Help!

Id tell friends saying they cant, that the only thing holding them back is their attitude and lack of current medical information". Use the same words every time you discuss it. In the end you cant change people if they don't want to change.

hi Dr boz, Tanya and peter from Australia, Tanya has no gall bladder. She has had difficulty staying in ketosis despite eating lchf. Yesterday she fasted 24 hours and her blood read glucose 3 . 9 and ketones 0.6 which we thought was good. We ate a green salad with olive oil and an omlet with sun dried tomatoes and olives and haloumi. This morning her bloods read glucose 5.2 ketone 0.4 Her ketones often drop to 0.1 while on lchf. Her weight is not shifting either. Is the reduced ability to absorb fat affecting her ability to stay in ketosis? Is her body reacting by stimulating gluconeogenisis? I am having no such issues and jump into ketosis really easily. This annoys the crap out of her. She also gets diahorrea whenever she gets into ketosis by fasting. Thanks for you help. Keep up the good work. Peter

Dr Boz. I really appreciate all your videos. Many years ago I had gangrene of the gallbladder and I was very ill, had emergency surgery to remove it and there was concern about the gangrene spreading. 10 years after this surgery I almost died as the scar tissue wrapped around my small intestine. Another emergency surgery . I am now 72 and following a Keto pattern of eating. Am I too old to benefit from Keto.? I live in Mexico and the doctors here have not caught up with going Keto. Will this diet make me feel better. I am overweight and have arthritis.

I have a question reguarding the gall bladder muscle bag. Given the organ is easily removed what attention has been offered to clearing a gallbladder muscle bag of contents by intervetion? Have surgeons a reason not to open and remove gall bladder stones ? Because no low fat had been the weight care mantra and priorly the presence of cholestirol stone accumulation atributed to eatting fats, estrogen, lack of excersising

We have helped many people save their gallbladders, due to gallstones, doctors are to fast to yank them out, we have been using a liver and gallbladder cleanse for over 2 decades , we have actual pictures of gallstones that come out of people, we tell them, take these stones and see what your doctor says about them, they no longer have gallstone issues. I can send you pictures of the stones.

What a timely video, Dr BOZ. I have been on keto for about two months and am nearly ready to quit because of the explosive diarrhea. I have had my gallbladder out. How long approximately, will it take before my liver steps up? I'm sure I am not absorbing my medication, much of the nutrients or fat soluble vitamins. I feel tired weak, teary and irritable by turns. Its a wonder my family hasn't all left home! I really want to be 100% committed to this, especially as i am just 5 years our from Grade 3 breast cancer and a bilateral radical mastectomy. I'm making the bone broth and drinking my ketoaide every day. At the moment, I'm trying to give my liver a break by fasting for 48 hours, seeing if that calms things down. So far, no relief. What should i do?

@@Oaktreealley yeah, but that's because I did almost everything wrong in the beginning. So i had no salt which led to giant headaches. So how much quicker and smoother this transition could have been, I can only guess.

6:37...If the gallbladder itself and not the duct to the sphincter of odi is blocked which would allow bile to still flow from the liver, what would be the max time expected before signs of an infection from the gallbladder blockage while bile still would be making its way to do its job and therfore possibly hiding the problem? Would one still expect to find bilirubin in the urine if the gallbladder itself were blocked while bile was still flowing? For clarification, I am not asking how long till signs of a problem are presented, but what is the max time someone could go before the blockage would lead to an infection that lets one know they need surgery? I will only seek medical aid if a problem is determined to be life-threatening because of the cost, so trying to determine how long max it may take. Am I mistakenly assuming a blockage of the gallbladder itself without cutting off bile would turn gangrenous, or "could" it just be in a constant state of irritation/inflamation without infection?

I have been keto for almost 5 years. I do have gallstones (likely from my high carb days) which were noticed when I had an abdominal ultrasound for an injury. Otherwise I am perfectly healthy. My doctor said if I experience gallbladder pain, that he'd give me some pain meds, but I rarely have pain, and don't like taking meds. However, I have noticed that I feel moderate gallbladder pain, but ONLY after re-feeding following a fast of 3 or more days. If I intermittent fast for less than 36 hours, it doesn't seem to be an issue. What are your thoughts?

@@BillyBob-si2db Oh, that's wonderful! I managed to lose a large amount of weight after being hospitalised when I developed jaundice due to a gallstone blocking a bile-duct - oh, the pain! I didn't want to have my gallbladder removed (the consultant was so cross that I'd refused!) Unfortunately, the lockdown 'did me in' emotionally-speaking, and I re-gained most of the weight after going back to my old sugar-scoffing ways. I've tried many diets, too. I rather enjoy a vegan diet and quite like doing the raw-food thing, also; but the diet that released me from the brain-fog and gave me lots of energy was intermittent fasting. I've noticed that people are combining Keto and I.F., so I think I'm going to give that a go. Perhaps people will tell me that I look healthy, too! 😊 I'm going to do a little more reading, meal-planning and preparation over the next few days and then go cold-turkey with the sugar. Eeek! Wish me luck! Have your gallstones dissolved, now? I promise that's my last question and I'll leave you alone. ;o)

@billleach3396

I have heard that is can be helpful though I question if ox bile even makes it through the stomach. Assuming that it does, then yes it probably would be helpful if you have been on a low fat diet. @@hummingbirdlvr5189 I agree. You are, in my opinion, one of those people that should start very slowly moving toward keto and monitor how you feel. One of the potential huge problem for all of us is our toxin exposure. If you are exposed to quite a lot of glyphosate your liver could already be struggling to survive and perform its many vital jobs. Obvously don't use RoundUp yourself but otherwise it is difficult to avoid. It is in almost everything. The real heavy hitters include all of the grains and RoundUp ready crops but even certified GMO-Free foods have some RoundUp contamination.
