Romy Lorenz is a cognitive neuroscientist with a multidisciplinary background in psychology and biomedical engineering. Currently, she is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Computational, Cognitive and Clinical Neuroimaging Lab (C3NL) at Imperial College London.
Her research interest lies in developing brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) and artificial intelligence (AI) using different neuroimaging techniques and by applying machine learning. Rather than looking at BCIs through the lens of assistive technology though, she is passionate about using BCIs as a new experimental paradigm in cognitive neuroscience.
She received her PhD from Imperial College London where she have developed an “AI neuroscientist” - a novel BCI for optimizing experimental design by combining real-time fMRI with Bayesian optimization.
Alongside her research, she is working as a co-director for AXNS, a curatorial collective interested in the intersection between neuroscience and art. This is great presentation Romy Lorentz. You have pointed out limitations of current scientific methods in a very succinct manner. Science is in dire need of paradigm shift. Your approach will prove a real very important step in this direction. Keep it up. I think that sincerely that in time to come, your work will become highly recognized. Best wishes.

11 minutes in you are one scientist I can agree with , on the test watching the brain until you add the heart and soul to the experience one can not fully understand the way a person thinks. Like painting the walls to match a sofa until you put in the curtains and pictures, floors you can't get the full picture. I will watch more hopefully to hear what the a. I. Input will be.

I wish you all the best, enjoyed your way of thinking, but don't ever forget the complexities of the moment in time, the beliefs , the heart and soul of the person all connected to the brain. Just by connecting the machine to collect information the information has changed. Have you ever tried hypothesis before getting the information? Just curious what difference would it make. You have renewed my interpretation of scientists in a good way. Thanks

AI is great at replicating intelligent behavior, but intelligent thought is another matter. We don’t fully understand how intelligent human thoughts develop, so we’re not going to build machines that can have them anytime soon.”

doesn't this mean we can only do the analysis on one person at a time?

cognitive "scientist" are the new age mentalists. At least their aspirations are kind of pure.
