Surrender is the key to freedom. But you cannot do surrender from the willfulness of the self. It's a ripening process that takes place when you are willing to really see the internal mechanism that creates psychological suffering. My wife, and I were fortunate enough to attend Amoda's 6-day retreat in Utah's beautiful Zion Valley. Each of the four full days had two such sharings, this being a portion of my favorite. The clarity with which she shares is very rare, and the fact that it comes from her own deep spiritual awakening sets her apart from far too many non-duality teachers. We are very grateful for having had this opportunity to meet her, and are looking forward to her next in-person retreat.

This describes the exact process I am going through and I'm using the Jesus prayer to see the mechanism more clearly, which is "Oh Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me a sinner" This is not to beat myself up but to see exactly where I have craving, aversion, lust, resentment and despair and to allow it to be released through an honest seeing of this mechanism. This is allowing a greater surrender through devotion and the love and praise of God.
