This is an animated video of thermo-acoustic devices which demonstrates the phenomenon of converting heat to sound and vice-versa.
Lots of efforts were put to deliver a short video full of animations to clarify the concept behind engines and refrigerators that function according to the interaction between heat and sound.

Is the frequency of the piston the same as the closed tube frequency? Or what is the frequency of the piston related to?

Not necessarily the case. However, it is possible to match the frequency of the piston to the resonance frequency of the system (resonator tube) to achieve optimal performance. This is known as lock-in or synchronization. When the frequency of the piston is close to the resonance frequency of the system, the energy input to the system will be most efficiently converted into thermal energy, resulting in the highest temperature difference between the hot and cold end of the system.

I understand it works empirically; However ?how can I derive the thermoacoustic effect? from well-establidhed physics For ex: ?how the heck does the temperature gradient cause a sound wave?

What size acoustic Refrigeration can be used on a refrigerator and is it cost effective

Most prototypes are used for research and experimenting and are not available for commercial use. However, in regards to sizing, total length varies around 60cm with the large diameter equal to that of the loudspeaker. But it could not yet compete with conventional units due to its lower efficiency and power losses.

Sounds like that needs alot of Ai modling replacing the speaker with a modified tuning fork made of carbon nanotubes to keep the acoustic wave ossolating inside the modified heat synch resonance chamber with a little bell like system to get it going with a shake and let it rest... ideas no workshops

The efficiency of a thermoacoustic engine is equal to the acoustic power (desired output) divided by the hot heat flux (required input).
