Never understood why you guys constantly hate on drake when drake was the only one to give this guy a shot. Literally wouldn’t even know him without drake and y’all hate on him lol. Crazy how that works
Still PND (imo) one of the best to ever do it, if not the best in this rnb thing. Party is a world class writer and pnd1, 2 and 3 are all classics. Maybe it’s good we don’t get music from him every single year, that keeps the quality there. And to be honest, besides a few tweets, i don’t feel like Party would release so much music anyway, even if the label would allow him to.
@@maryakusumaoteng he is, his fanbase just refers to him as "abel" instead of saying "the weeknd" everytime. Especially when talking to other XO fans.
That's what makes this trilogy unique you can hear him having tons of emotions and sometimes it feels like he's the victim but if you reading the lyrics you can see him being the Villain or an Anti Hero
I believe every villain is a victim in a sense. I'm not trying to defend Abel don't get me wrong. But his upbringing probably traumatized him which led him to being a psychopath
I listened to The Weeknd's music throughout as a teen and at first I was just vibing with his songs and was oblivious to how dark the mixtapes were lyrically until years later.I just love how he makes a character and story based off of personal life even if it is a character I shouldn't root for.
man the quality of this story telling is criminally underrated , i hope your platform continues to grow because covering my favorite mixtapes this well should be illegal almost, well done man keep it up, xo

I was 12 when i got an ipod and learned to download music when kissland dropped. I cant bare to even fathom how amazing it must have been to live the mixtape days, not knowing who The Weeknd was or what he looked like. The contrast of who he has become is just so inspiring man, like damn, hes suceeded in music and now hes already undergoing his cinematography/film career just as he initially aspired to do in school. I wouldnt say his music resonated with me as a young kid but I fell in love with the atmosphere abel created. Resonating only came with growing up and maturing to understand his art. To this day i still listen to his music every day and i have never gotten bored. I never truly realised how much of a role model he is, he deadass pushed himself time and time again while going through so much bs and in the end he exceeded everyones expectations. Sry for the fanboy moment but damn bruh Abel is a damn g
@@rlucasxosame I was like 10 when I heard The Hills on the radio and it blew my mind, but I didn’t know the name or who wrote it, until 3 yrs later I was listening to starboy, reminder, party monster and realised he also made the hills 😭. Then another 7 yrs and Ive finally listened to his mixtapes, HOB is my fav oat
you can’t help but feel some sort of related feeling into most of the stories within these songs. as a young teen who overthinks and has personal problems you are at a time where you don’t really know yourself and you either try and fit in with what makes you feel comfortable or cool, or you just simply hate yourself for who you are and want your thoughts to disappear or the bad memories and regret to vanish. what i find in trilogy is all of those lyrics are relatable in some ways, it isn’t physically accurate for all of us but these thoughts are still in our heads. the overthinking, the low confidence, the fear of being alone or being wronged and then having those feelings and thoughts reflect on your actions. i truly adore this album and the mixtapes and the STORIES. because what they mean to you and how you feel about it determines who you are or what you want to be while also comforting yourself and knowing that you’re just another human being and everyone has their own demons. i don’t know if you understand what i’m saying 100% hahaha but yeah, i love trilogy.
I remember buying the trilogy on cds in high school when it came back I would listen to it nonstop I was obsessed!! this being some of my darkest times too I’ve always felt like I was able to relate to these songs. Now as an adult I have listened again after years of a crazy life style addiction and toxic relationships it’s hard for me to listen to the songs as well it kinda takes me back to my dark times. It’s beautiful to see how far The Weeknd has come
That trilogy was part of the soundtrack to that time in my life. HOB was my summer shit. Thursday was.... indescribable. Echoes was for my depression. The Trilogy was better than the PND Trilogy and that's saying A LOT cuz PND1 and 2 are monsters in their own.
Your insight is well beyond your years. Remember it as you live your life. I’ve had to re-learn a few lessons the hard way, that I wished I had remembered.
❤Abel his music saved my life and I was going through a divorce and I felt his pain and forgot about mine l got better listening to him and worrying about him ❤
Still 3 of my favorite albums/Mixtapes. Came across high for this on shuffle earlier and it took me right back to an old life. These tapes were literally a soundtrack of my life for a time
That was such a great video. Coming around to really enjoying Echoes of Silence, and I believe you nailed the delivery of the entire story. Great stuff, having the instrumental in the background, super smooth.
I actually like the idea that the girl from Outside to Same Old Song are all the same girl. A girl from his past who’s only coming back to him now because he’s getting fame, and so him turning her lifestyle to shit in XO/The Host and then Initiation is all his revenge on her, and Same Old Song is him now admitting to her face what he was doing and how everything she’s sacrificed for him was all for nothing, because to him, she’s just the same old song, she’s boring, she’s nothing, and discards her.
