I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your videos. I am struggling with ear fullness in the left ear along with vertigo (about once a week) and some dizziness off and on, especially at night in bed and when I make sudden head movements. Sadly I have tinnitus in the left ear as well. I tried Brandt-Darnoff exercises as prescribed by my ENT, but he has just ordered vestibular testing as the exercise did not really help and sometimes made things worse. Hearing test showed up normal two weeks ago. Whatever is going on, it is annoying. CT and MRI scans did not show any immediate problems. The funny thing is last Friday, my left ear seemed to clear...there was some beating sounds like a drum 5 times and I felt movement in the ear...the tinnitus went away for a few days, but on the third day, the ear felt tight and full again and the tinnitus came back. Anyway, thank you for the video...I don't really know what vestibular tests are yet, but I keep watching your material to educate myself on my issues. Thank you from the USA.

Very interesting and informative video. I have had Vertigo, dizziness, tinnitus and balance problems since January. I’ve seen the ENT doctor at my local hospital. I have tried to be positive doing vestibular exercises every day. I’m waiting for results of an MRI (ears) in a letter to my GP the consultant stated Romberg- negative, the problem is I was never tested for this. I definitely cannot keep my balance if my eyes are closed. Your description at the end of the video was very familiar when I get up at night to go to the toilet I stagger and usually bump into the doorway. Hopefully will get some answers soon. Secondly any easy differentiating points between vertigo and dizziness clinically? Oh and how to take history and examination in vertigo patient? Would appreciate a systematic approach.. Thanks!
Another amazing explanation of the subject similar to the one where you produced throat sounds to explain different conditions I am an alternative medicine research officer retired aged 65 I think I am suffering with post BPPV syndrome as after 3 to 4 years of off and on attacks I now only have swaying side to side or front to back problem i shall be more than happy if you have any suggestions for my condition thanks for the video .

I wish I could come to you. My ENT does no answering just a phony quote of we want to see why you have lost hearing. Even though I had been to the same office 9 months before and no mention of my hearing loss
I've never had either test but was diagnosed with vestibular neuritis, then bilateral BPPV and possibly vestibular migraine and likely vestibular hypofunction. It's literally been a roller coaster ride and taken a year trying to get back to 'normal' and still not fully there.
I had issues with balance and kept falling over. After some tests, which I couldn't do, I had a calorics test, which diagnosed right ear canal paresis.
Thanks for this. I'm now confused. I saw an ent chap recently. He told me to stand with arms by my sides and my feet together, eyes closed. I started to sway. He said quite abit. He then said I didn't have an inner problem. He stated he thought the issue was elsewhere probably a neck or back issue maybe pppd. I've just done your tests. Both of them and I have very little movement. So what does that mean, is it inner ear or not? My GP is equally confused by my diagnosis or lack of it. I have normal hearing.
Thanks for the explanation. I had one such acute even as mentioned in the video 2 months back. My balance has retorted well. But I still feel a bit of dizziness when I can make sudden head movements to the left. And I’ve returned a positive result for unterberger test. I’m making a full rotation towards my left. ENT has established I have some problem with my left year. But I haven’t been told what exactly the problem was. I have bit of fullness in my left ear as well. Is there any exercises which can help me restore that balance ? Or is it a permanent thing ? What is the prognosis? Doesn’t it eventually get restored to normalcy in course of time? I’m a 29 year old. Thank you.
Untberger or Fukuda? Who said it first? I ended up failing on this twice. Once at physio and once at home. I tested myself because I got brutally seasick during a stormy cruise. I’ve got a long history of wrestling, cycling and Motorsports so it caught me off guard by a lot. So what do we do if we fail?
Hi, i stumbled across your very helpful page tonight...I had vertgo a year ago and dont take the medication but now i have nystagmus and labrintitus and do the brandt daroff exercises but it does not go, i have hearing loss, tinnitus and constant wax in the left ear and i get dizzy and had for about three months now its getting me down. The dr does nothing.. what can i do please help!
Hi Doc.. After following your famous Tinnitus advice on Quora , my 3 months old Tinnitus has reduced somewhat and is now only audible in silence. Do you think it would go away if I don't have hearing loss upto 8 khz?

What does it mean when you do the Unterberger's tests and you spin to the right, but then when you do the test again right after for a 2nd time you spin to the left?

Only me again i just seen that your are from london, im in leeds, would you or could you recommend an ENT doctor in the Leeds west Yorkshire area that i could visit please. I when to my gp, didnt do any tests they said i had Bppv i think they called it, i was dizzy just once that lasted about 20 seconds juts felt like i was been pushed/walking to the right, the anxiety it has caused me is terrifying me and i dont want to have to take medication for this.

What is the cause of being easy to get vertigo so quickly even though I’m not having infection and without doing any movement? Also sometimes I feel like I’m having a quick Shift in Pressure in my Head like I’m going up in an alleviator in speeding way and then in three seconds it’s gone?
Sounds interesting.... What you are saying sounds like a peripheral labyrinthine issue, but those symptoms can be caused by a lot of neurological things too. I would see a balance centre (ENT + Audiology + Neurology + physio etc) and get checked out.
