Water Column? What is it, why is it important, and what does it have to do with plumbing? Find out in this video on water column for the plumbing industry and learn some good need to know information for your plumber training.
Thank you so much for this video. I'm a high school physics teacher teaching fluid mechanics and this video is so full of great information. I love the idea of using pressure in columns to determine the gas pressure in a pipe. I'm sharing this with my students this week!
There would be slight variations depending on density of the water. Density is affected by temperature and dissolved particles. Solid video though. Definitely gives a workable understanding for measuring low pressures and vacuums.
As a plumber my question is what if we run 10’ of 1.5 inch standing pipe to test a 4 inch sewer line. Will it still be same pressure 4.3 at the bottom of the pipe. And what if it’s 1/4” pipe?
yes, the size of the pipe doesn't matter. But does your inspector know that? We tried to save money by doing that on our slabs. but the old inspector couldn't grasp the Idea, he was used to seeing a 3" riser. It's gravity not volume.
Plumbing Solutions so if its going up a hill at a 45 degree angle is it the same or only vertical feet? is it 28 inches of pipe or 28 inches of vertical height? thank u..
