@@brandonblake320 Tell the truth considering how much he didnt enjoy it(doing it to make his parents proud) he probably would’ve quit at some point. But he needed that one person like Tim in the family to encourage his decision
@@subhadipbhattacharyaya9374 honestly I'd say no one. No shame or issue in letting him retire with the streak unbeaten. Brock didn't need that his career was already on lock, I'd have been happier with him retiring with the streak in tact. Or letting an up and comer actually look good and get a push, imagine being one of the newer guys and having the legacy of breaking the streak, it'd have been huge heat. Bad decision in my book.
@@kamenanew9867 got your point and i have been listening to this argument for long, and believe me at that time I was also very much upset with this decision. But after having seen how things played out, I think this was a very smart decision Vince had made to let the streak die in the hand of Brock. There is no streak in history which is unbroken(Bruno's title reign doesn't count because already. Roman has defended more number of times).... everything has to end at some point, so the streak absolutely had to be broken, the story writes itself that the king finally fell after giving his all in the ring. Now over to Brock, the thing that most impressed me was his booking, he was booked like an absolute monster which I don't think you could do with anyone else who hypothetically ended the streak. The one thing I am still upset with Taker absolutely deserved an wm main event retirement match with LIVE CROWD. But nobody could right that wrong
The problem with giving this rub to an up an comer is, he would have been positioned to fail unquestionably. Taker and Brock just could not loose a match, whenever taker was having a match during the streak days, everyone expects him to win - such was the power of the phenom character. Same with Beast Brock. How can you book an up and comer like that in today's scenario and maintain that constantly. Ultimately Vince gave the rub to Brock, who in turn gave it to Roman and Seth - brilliant decision in my book. The legacy of the streak will always remain as the most holy grail of the WWE.
@@kamenanew9867 too risky & stupid. The next big thing is always a pool of wrestlers that end up leaving the wwe or booted. Hardly do you get 1-2 superstars from new blood, so having one of them beat it just doesnt make sense. Kurt Angle & Brock were the only worthy choices
In an interesting parallel, the day before Taker's debut at Survivor Series, Bret Hart lost his brother Dean. Despite this, he faced the debuting Undertaker the day after.
Wrestling is something they love to do, before the money they started off just enjoying to wrestle. This isn't a 9-5 job that you hate so you take time off whenever you can, there is time to deal with a personal matter once the match is over
Mark Calaway is one of the last great wrestlers. He’s also a great person, behind the character. I’ve never heard anyone say a bad thing about him, which is almost unheard of in the wrestling industry.
I truly believe his brother would have wanted him to do the match anyway and that's why The Undertaker did it!!! Respect to that man for all the childhood memories!!! THANK YOU UNDERTAKER!!!
I will truly miss this man so much. Been so blessed to see a good majority of his wrestling career and forever will be my favourite wrestler but I am glad he has retired. If anyone deserves his rest it’s him
Death always surrounds wwe like it's a cult, summoning demons randomly. Even wrestlers like owen, going over the edge and about that forced entry upon Benoit.
Jesus.... as much as i miss him. As much inspiration his given me over the years to keep going. This man is one celebrity, icon, whatever he is to you. This man has truly earned his retirement.
For the tough times he endured for his career, he's deserving of a good retirement life. I'm thankful to have seen him perform live. Thanks for all the great memories! I hope he can rest in peace 🔔
No one will ever match or come close to Taker’s dedication and loyalty to the WWE. NO ONE. He is the GREATEST Legend and WWE Superstar in WWE’s history.
2020. Undertaker made 20-0 streak. HIS BROTHER DYING MEANS HE WOULD BE NEXT. ITS TIME TO HANG UP THE BOOTS IN RING TO AVOID ANY FURTHER INJURES AS HE GETS OLDER. HE CANT KEEP UP AGAIN. 2020 IS THE BEST YEAR TO RETIRE IN RING COMPITION FOR TAKER. GLAD IT WAS AJ STYLES BEING THE LAST DUDE THAN ROMAN REIGNS. WHO HAD HUGE BACKLASH. TAKER NEEDED THAT FINAL WIN AT WRESTLEMANIA TO END HIS CAREER. NOBODY BETTER THAN THE AMERICAN BAD ASS VS THE PHENOMINAL ONE. WE ARE HAPPY HE GOT TO DO ALOT MORE THAN WHAT HE INTENDED. 25-2 streak.
He's what is known as a "founder". Not a boss, or a "goat" but a Founder. If you happen to be a "Founder" of anything, even a company, you are always the last one to recieve flowers.. the company must blossom before ANY THING ELSE and then the founder eats last.
He's the only reason I stayed watching WWE cuz he brought more to the table than most in the industry not saying there's not other skilled fighters but I been watching the man fight since I was maybe 8 or 9 im 28 now and he is still the most amazing and dedicated fighter I had ever see all be it didn't think I'd live long enough to watch him leave and cry like a bitch wen the streak ended and wen he left wwe shocks me still that he's actually retired it's unreal still.
Such a tragic loss R.I.P Timothy Calaway, the Undertaker will always be my favourite wrestler of all time he has done so much for the wrestling industry he deserves to enjoy his retirement
Undertaker taker is probably the most realist man in wrestling history 👏 there was no fakeness about him. A strong man like him stands alone with strength and dignity.
Even in 2024 this still makes me emotional. Can say I am honoured to be a fan of the business as a whole during the time Mark Calaway was lacing up his boots. Thank you Taker
That's commendable beyond words. Mark Worked through the pain gave a he'll of a show and left to do his own thing in private for someone he loved and for someone who inspired Mark to become the Highly regarded and respected phenom.. Thank you both for what you gave us.. 💐 🔔 💐
If you go back and watch that match, if you know how to read body language, you can see taker was dealing with inner pain. The storyline build up with AJ trash talking his family kinda mask it and makes it look like that pain and anger is from AJ but it’s really due to this. Crazy…this made the match all that better knowing that taker probably in his head wanted to give his bro, who convinced him to wrestle, a final great match from the heavens.
He is the WWE I can remember being between 8 and 13 years old and he did everything for the WWF he was an untouchable due to his consistency and commitment to his wrestling craft no one comes close. Respected by both wrestlers and fans alike bar none.
This is why Mark is and always be my most favorite wrestler ever. In away I'm known as the Deadman here also because I did die for like 6 minutes or so. He always gave it his all where many others just up and quit
Something tells me his brother would have wanted him to stick to it and go through with the match as planned. Everyone knows Taker's love for the WWE Universe, his family most of all
His dedication can never be denied but it was not mutual...they did not care about his health no matter how much they pretended. And when I say they I mean Vince and his stooges.
I respect it because he spend almost 60yesrs with his brother with lots of memories so he wasemt grieving that hard plus the match was a one day thing so I'm sure he left immediately to see him.
This man filled my childhood with so much joy and scares i miss him wrestling but he deserves to finally retire. I'm still annoyed about WWE ending his streak i never liked Brock but it wasnt my decision. My dad bought me his dvd set of all his wins at wrestlemaina
Can remember watchin the end of The Last Ride documentary!…seeing Mark cry put a tear in my eye, because you’d never thought “The Undertaker, The Deadman” would ever show his emotions or be out of character!!
I saw The Last Ride with my Brother and that part was hard to watch. I couldn't imagine losing my Bro and having to put on a great match. Thank you Mark 'The Undertaker' Calaway for everything. 🙏
While this is very tragic and legendary...the most legendary feat of Undertaker for me, is when he somehow managed to STILL compete in that Elimination Chamber war despite suffering SEVERE BURNS!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯 As a result of that bonehead tech. I nearly burned to death in a fire years ago. Had to be medevacd by helicopter to an ICU Burn Unit. Put me in the hospital for over 4 months. I suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on both arms, 3rd degree burn on left hand, 2nd degree burn on my neck, and a huge 3rd degree burn covering the entire front of my chest. Talk about EXTREME torture...that is legitimately god mode toughness Taker displayed that match.
