i like how even though clover has an actual gun by this point, axis still needs to give them a shield to fight them. axis literally sees a trash can lid as a bigger threat than a real gun
Bro i was stubborn enough to keep using the silver scarf which while it does heal you, only has 5 def. I ended up giving up and using the safey goggles on the final boss but ir sure made acis and gardener harder
I stuck with the Silver Scarf on Axis and the 2 HP heal every turn is not worth it considering that Axis does 7 damage per hit when you use it. But if you do have it, once you fill up the Tick-O-Bar you can intentionally miss all your hits to heal up, and then Fight to progress to the next phase

Genocide spoilers: It's straight up bullet-proof too, you do absolutely no damage to Axis until the power up at the end. The trash in this game must not mess around if you need trash lids that powerful

It only recently dawned on me that the reason Axis has a censor is because the robots in Steamworks are to never swear based on the bot fact given by one of the helper bots the Guardener summons. Its kinda funny that instead of choosing to remove the ability to swear, Chujin allowed Axis to swear but gave him a censor so Axis could truly express his extreme negative emotions while not violating the rules of Steamworks.
That's what I've been saying lol. Spoilers for genocide ahead: Even when shot through the head thrice this mf still would've curb stomped Clover at one point or another if Clover didn't literally hulk out.
You know something tragic. AXIS line of robots was discontinued, but looking at AXIS 014, well... He is a better robot than Mettaton. Now I'm not talking about firepower. In Undertale Yellow at least, Alphys got her job because her robot was so lifelike. Except that's not really her doing is it? Mettaton is not a real, Zeroes and Ones robot. Alphys hasn't done any programming at all. Ghost Mettaton could have posessed a regular manequinn and would have been just as lifelike. In that way you can say Alphys cheated. I totally get Ceroba's frustration
Alphys cheated her way to the Top which got asgore assuming she could make well made self-aware conscience robots. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. If Ceroba had found out, she would of been furious
To be fair, Axis isn't 100% robot either. He has the soul of the kid he killed at waterfall infused into his body (whether you take this as an accidental fusion after the kid died or Chujin pulling a William Afton to hide the brutalized body is up to you) Edit: it has come to my attention that this reply is inherently false. In my defense, I have not read the book in the hidden steamworks room on neutral so I did not realize the soul was integrity and that it was eventually sent to Asgore's castle
@@X-SPONGED No i don't think Axis has a soul in him. I think it's implied that Axis killed the Integrity/Blue human in waterfall, contained their soul, then Chujin experimented on it for a while. After that, Chujin donated that soul to Asgore after all. Somewhere in the game it is mentioned that once, a human was spotted, but then disappeared, and their soul turned up only years later
The worst part is that once you shut down the robots, you're basically screwed, as you cant get any G in the area anymore. Gotta hope you saved up enough!
Frisk is VERY lucky that Chujin's proposal got turned down. One Axis bot was enought to kill the blue soul, and if you're anything like me, Pacifist Clover (repeatedly). Imagine what an army of them could do...
I mean to be fair, this is the same axis bot that killed the blue soul. So its not entirely impossible for clover to win against multiple if they can beat one.
In fairness, Clover is canonically just way weaker than Frisk anyway. In difficult fights, Frisk gets a determination boost to massively increase their damage, coupled with NATURALLY having the ability to SAVE rather than relying on Flowey like Clover does. Even if Clover struggles against Axis, I doubt Frisk would struggle against even multiple of them.
it would certainly be interesting to see a world where chujin ends up as the royal scientist and frisk has to confront them in hotland instead of mettaton given how unlike alphys he is very hatefull towards humans for (mostly) no good reason, i feel like sans would play a big role in this version of hotland tho given how his ties to the lab while subtle are very clear in the original undertale alongside alphys(if we get to meet her in this version)
@@SomeRobloxDudeWasTaken i mean, going through with the mindset of "its ok, i can take some damage, just make sure i can endure it away for the next turn" rather than "OH SHIT OH FUCK I TOOK LIKE 7 DAMAGE IM HALF HEALTH SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT" makes the cebora fight a lot easier to manage than the axis fight imo edit : i didnt have the silver scarf and my only healing items were rootbeer and h20 (which are essentially full heals in a pacifist run, but still only 8 items)
One one hand; big difficulty spike that frustrated the hell out of me, on the other hand one of the most fire tracks that has come out of the Undertale fandom
I played through pacifist and thought "yeah, this is definitely harder than undertale" Then I played genocide That stuff makes Last Breath look like a Froggit encounter

My favorite moment of this fight is during the pacifist route when you have to blow up his power generators. Just imagining a robot angrily shouting [screw] YOU [screw] YOU [screw] YOU [screw] YOU [screw] YOU- I assume the brackets are meant to be censors, which is even funnier. Considering I died at least five times to this guy, I think he was echoing my thoughts to some degree. But damn was it so satisfying to one-up this boss.
Man, this boss is so [insanely] difficult. I got SO [ticked] off. Other people found the circling thing easier, which I didn't, but it wasn't impossible. That one with the orange ray though? It's just straight up [Heck] on Earth.
@familyneves9777 hey the shield section with the orange lazer. i found a trick where if you keep holding the up or down key, you would be immune to the lazer as you would technically be always moving
Axis himself and his theme are absolutely both bangers at the same time. Also love how he is mix of both Mettaton with his dance moves and Spamton with his dialogue now that right there is a unique character.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT LID? IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE USEFUL. THAT IS CHEATING." -Axis, who not ten seconds prior gave Clover the lid in question in order to abuse a loophole in its own programming. Edit: Can we *please* stop this pronouns debate? You can discuss that elsewhere. Thank you.
One small detail I've noticed is when you kill Axis, his body doesn't explode and the sound of a monster disintegrating is played, and then you get EXP. However, if you destroyed any of the robots in Steamworks, they don't give EXP when they die, and don't turn to dust either. Maybe it was more than faulty programming that made the Axis models malfunction...
@R3TRlS Well, according to the lore of the game Axis killed a human unrelated to the main 8 (5 humans + Clover, Chara, & Frisk). Chujin states he wasn't going to give away the soul of the human Axis killed, which is why he had the blue syringe in his lab. The human had a blue soul, but they the blue human soul Asgore got.
There's a secret book in the Steamworks that states the blue soul reappeared in waterfall years after axis killed them, so eventually chujin disposed of it.
The fact that around 0:21 it actually sounds like things ricocheting off a tin trash can lid? The way the song slowly ramps up into Axis’ motif as it becomes clear that you’re actually able to fight back??? Love it!!!!
When I go back for my genocide playthrough, I will not feel an ounce of sympathy for this robot. "I will grind you down until the very sparks beg for mercy"
There's a couple Easter eggs like that hidden in the ost. Steamworks' meltdown theme I recognized the theme of infinity mijinion in the intro piece. Fitting considering axis on a programming point is very similar to Illumina
You know, during the fight with this boss, at one point I realized why, unlike Frisk, Clover always sees a unique background in battles with monsters (if they are important enough). It's like a trick for him to look into their soul and understand what motivates them or what is close to them. It's funny that of all these bosses, only two are not fully susceptible to this effect. But these are the bosses whose flashbacks we see in Pacifist and Genocide. (Or maybe I just overthink such a simple thing as good design of boss backgrounds)
Undertale was originally gonna have custom boss backgrounds for every boss, but that was scrapped and only Undyne and a couple others ended up getting some. So I consider this UTY reusing a scrapped idea.
Given what Martlet sats with some optional dialogue if you take her back some way into the dunes (She mentions being curious what the monsters there's "Battle theme" is like, and then explains that all monsters have a sort of mental track that plays, and she's heard that rarely others can hear it if attuned or something), I think that this is entirely possible. Or it's just using scrapped ideas-
Y'all deserve to be on the team with Toby Fox, because Undertale Yellow has some of the BEST music, moments, and mechanics I've ever seen in any Undertale fangame. Hell, Undertale Yellow's style is so similar to vanilla Undertale that I wouldn't even be able to tell the difference! Waiting 7 years for Undertale Yellow to officially come out as a full, fleshed out game was SO worth it! (also this goes way harder than death by glamour, holy-)
the hardest thing about AXIS fight is that if you had no items there you had to backtrack A LOT to the vending machine. other than that, i love this fight. the SOUL mechanic, the music, the background
Fighting Axis around 20 times with only 1 healing item was far more enjoyable than it realistically should have been, I largely attribute that to this soundtrack
You know whats funny about Chujin He wasnt so bad at science at all, he was more like, stupid at his strategy Instead of making sure that his Axis model is properly working, everytime he finished, he rushed to Asgore, and then found out that its not working at all And this way, 8 times in a row, no idea Asgore was done. Same with his Integrity Soul sample, he was experimenting on himself, didnt even get sure if his last syringe was properly working, yet he wasnt looking at consequences. And that caused him, and his daughter to die (except that she was sent to True Lab and probably got melt into one of Amalgamates). His shameful award "You tried at engineering" pretty sums him up. Alphys just outsmarted him, instead of making 14 prototypes and shaming herself, she built a robot shell for a ghost she met at Waterfall, and made sure it got enough offensive weaponry.
This theme sounds super heroic, especially with the clapping and chanting. I think this may be representative of how Axis was going to be the hope for monsterkind before things went awry for poor Chujin.
This fight was actually really tough…. Getting so close and dying twice could only be fun with THIS music playing. Some of the attacks this game has are actually really hard!!!! Like ow 😭
yknow, this fight may be annoying as all hell, but the devs made a good choice in giving it one of the best fight themes in the game. makes it alot more tolerable
One of my favorites from what I've played so far, it honestly really fits the situation while also having this feeling that this is the last stand against Axis 14, and also that one wrong step and you can die.
This is probably my favorite song in this game’s whole OST. The section 32 seconds in is absolutely phenomenal and probably my favorite part about this whole song. Just… absolutely amazing work.
fun fact i just noticed about this song! 1:29 (and consequently 1:34, 1:45, 1:55) sounds like the melody of the green soul segment of Your Best Nightmare which is fitting cuz you're literally in shield mode for this fight which is the gimmick of the green soul
I don’t know if this was intentional or not but the motif at 0:31 sounds a lot like the theme song to “My Life as a Teenage Robot” thought it was funny considering we were fighting a robot when this plays
This song is incredible. The instruments are super funky, I think I even heard delay lama in there. Also I swear a section of this is taken straight from a mother 3 remix
Possibly the only character who's better off in the Neutral Route than either Pacifist or Genocide. And for a literal machine, I'd say that's pretty fitting.
0:59 has got to be inspired by MyNewSoundtracks remix of “the attics a dungeon?!” From Mother 3. They even worked UT yellows soundtrack and everything.
Toby needs to pull a Valve with Black Mesa and let you sell the game for money, it's a perfect companion piece. I wouldn't be surprised if he declared it canon. He should also get you guys to help with Deltarune.
