What I find so funny about this fight is that Marlet became the zenith of monsterkind; able to throw fast, sharp feathers bullets, use her wings to cover the box and throw MORE sharp feather bullets, ludicrously fast claw attacks, use said claws to tear and mark the field, throw advancing blocks bullets that cover a whole line on the box, and soar through you with majestic galaxy wings. All these showcase her enourmous power and determination to stop you for good. ...And then she still has the "random bullshit go" attack. ...And that one is by far the most difficult one to deal with. Oh Marlet. Despite everything, is still you.
That one was really hard, but then I looked up a no hit video cause I had no idea, then learned it's pretty easy. Just dodge up and towards the center if you are forced to do so. The hardest in my opinion is by far the when where feathers go from the outside to the center. No idea how to doge that.
@@maker0824 The one that's similar to Undyne The Undying's rotating spear attack? What I do is dodge diagonally towards the border, and again diagonally towards the center. Is actually quite easy once you get the rythm.
Despite her impressive power, Zenith Martlet's HP is actually just a little more than the damage Snowgrave does, at least i think-from adding up all the damage points she takes during the fight @@deesnyder8201
@@newYoshtown Snowgrave Noelle? She has pretty much been molded to the point where we can make her do anything by the time we fight Berdly. Thats why she used snowgrave on him. Now main route Noelle on the other hand probably would be able to join her side though.
The way my jaw DROPPED during the transformation animation. Found it hard to focus on the bullet hell just staring at the beautiful character design staring back at me like JESUS cool birds are my weakness
The dynamic between Clover and Martlet in this fight is perfect. On one side you have Clover, who has taken it upon themselves to become some sort of antihero seeking out vengeance against all of monsterkind, thus attempting to enact justice for what happened to the fallen humans before them. But then you have Martlet, who has had everyone she's ever cared about ripped away in Clover's rampage. Innocent monsters who had nothing to do with the unfortunate deaths of the human SOULs. And yet this happens only after Martlet gave Clover multiple chances to become a better person and to seek the path of redemption. Because of Clover's actions, Martlet is molded into a true zenith of justice, becoming a legendary being as she injects herself with Chujin's serum in a last ditch effort to stop Clover's rampage once and for all. And you can see this with the yellow eye she has mid transformation, the eye that is very similar looking to Sans's well known magic eye. And this is why Martlet is the one being Clover describes as a 'worthy opponent'. Because like Clover, Martlet has similarly become a being fueled by one thing only: a lust for justice. Justice for all the lives that were taken in Clover's slaughter. Two powerful beings, beings with the power to change fate. Monsterkind vs humans, in one final climatic showdown. The victor will decide the outcome of the war. And only one of the two sides can prevail... Only one can achieve justice.
"You should've finished me when you had the chance!" - Martlet, before injecting a serum that gives a temporary major power boost but kills the user after 10 minutes inside of her.
Neutral Route after aborting Genocide: “…I can’t. Even after all this, it doesn’t feel right using such a drastic measure on you.” Genocide Route: “I should have done this from the beginning.”
@@yonatanevron2428 what if sans thought that the human was not going to know what to do with asgore's soul, then be stuck in the underground? don't forget the promise he made to toriel
@@Amb_CEO this has no relation to sans' actions. He knows that when we reach the absolute, LV20, everything ends. Beforehand, without every monster being killed, we cannot reach it. So he knows that fighting us is pointlessly unimportant, as we will reset. Eventually. But after LV20? The world's absolute destruction? There is no coming back. Not really

Pacifist!Clover: “In what way is this justice? This is selfish! Damaging! This is *injustice* and *unjustifiable vengeance!* Stop and think for moment, this isn't justice. It isn't what we set out to do! You're twisting it's meaning, and in reality only doing this for yourself just to gain power! You're going against our own morals and ideals!.. Who are you?”

I'm surprised that she blocked us from using the fight button in this phase. Also, the fact that she melted instead of turning to dust implies that we couldn't even kill her before the determination did her in!
Honestly I don't think the serum had enough determination to amalgamate her The only reason she started to was because her vest was broken, her *INTEGRITY* was broken, causing her to spiral out of control Since there wasn't really any determination, she couldn't even survive being an amalgamation
All the remaining Monsters watching on in horror, meanwhile Flowey’s just like “You’ve got to be KIDDING me.” With the most unamused expression on his face.

Fun fact: I made a demo for this track back in 2018 that 'MyNewSoundtrack' made the final version off of. and the only thing I remember about the process was I watched megamind whilst programming the drums.
it's interesting how halfway through the fight after we see martlet's flashback, she asks clover "what are you doing? searching for a reason to hate me?" it shows how martlet is not only clover's final adversary physically, but ideologically. clover's likely been justifying all of this murder under the pretense that it's for "justice", and blaming all the monsters they've fought for either attacking them first or being "complicit" in the murder of the other humans. but that line from martlet implies that even clover realizes that martlet is morally correct here. and yet, they soldier on regardless let justice be done
To be honest, while i was playing through this fight, i kinda started thinking that by the end of it, Clover would realize that he's wrong and would start to feel guilt. Because of that, his level would drop all the way down to level 1 and then king would easily kill him.
I don't think it is from alphy's lab. the serum is blue, the same color serum ceroba placed into kanako in one of her flashbacks. if it were determination then it should've been red, and i assume that much should've let her live on as an amalgamate of course, we don't know the exact amount needed for that. we do know undyne melts due to her own determination, but i have a feeling she had less than what marlet could've gotten my evidence for this are the attacks. undyne the undyings attacks are harder than the attacks in her normal fight, true, but not NEARLY the leap in difficulty from martlets normal fights and her while high on serum
@@solisruben296not to be that guy but determination as a substance was never said to be red, the red soul might have the most determination but that doesn’t mean that they’re the same color
Ultimate game theory - Determination = Estrogen. With determination you can hijack the power to Save & Load... With Estrogen you can hijack the power to become woman. It's really quite brilliant. Bravo Team Undertale Yellow
In Undertale: Sans is fighting you because you’re being maniac. In Undertale Yellow: Marlet is fighting you for justice to monsters that murdered by you
my favorite part about this fight is when martlet said "clover... you're UNDERTALE YELLOW ends here..." and then proceeded to absolutely assblast me into next week
I like how this battle is tragic from both their perspectives. In Martlet's case, she lost faith in believing in the best of everyone, surrendering to the anti-human speech from the monsters. In Clover's case, the last remnant of the child who just wanted a good home to live in (considering the implications at the end of the neutral route), now fully embracing the cold, violent killer they has become.
I like to think Clover is doing this for the same reason as us. The challenge. I mean, think about it. They had absolutely no reason to go after Martlet. It was more trouble than it was worth in EVERY aspect. And as we’ve seen with Starlo and Axis, they don’t NEED to be in battle to shoot someone. Heck, Martlet is looking away at the start of the fight. They could’ve just shot her, snagged the LV, and went to Asgore, but no. They waited for her to inject herself with the serum. And if all of that doesn’t give it away, just look at their description for her. “A worthy opponent.” This implies that everyone else they killed was either a stepping stone or “in the way.” They want this. They are going WELL out of their way for this. Why is beyond me, but hey, I also don’t know why I forced myself to beat her.
Nah, that's Frisk at Undertale Genocide, Clover is doing this to avenge all the fallen humans. As to why they continued on their mission despite knowing there was no reason to execute Martlet is that either 1. She was the last obstacle in their way before facing down Asgore 2. They have went too far to go back now
Partly feel like she would have just melted into sludge, seeing how the amalgam test subjects melted INTO each other, likely giving them the physical mass needed to keep going, martlet wouldn't find any around, so she becomes a puddle. Rip berd
Only other ones I can think of are FNAF and Minecraft, though those are kinda carried by a few really popular ones whereas Undertale definitely has more ones that are popular
I've probably died over 30 times to Martlet right now. But one thing that I get never tired of is this banger of a theme song for her. She's so cool! Huge props to the developers for probably making the best ever Undertale fangame.
I think what i LOVE the most about UTY soundtrack is how reminiscent it sounds of Megaman X. Like it could totally imagine Remedy playing in the background of Armored Armadillo's stage, it fits in perfectly.
this boss basically plays the role of undyne, papyrus, sans and alphys at the same time Papyrus by always believing in you, even basically in death(kinda), sans as kicking your ass in a way never seen before and questioning your choices, undyne by being motivated by determination(though justice suits it better), to the point of melting in the end of the battle and saying that she will bring you down and alphys, as doing it all for a greater good and in a way saving a ton of monsters from you
My advice for anyone who wants to stand a chance: Golden Cactus is bugged in a way that'll give you a massive advantage. The healing effect persists after dying and retrying. Plus, when used again while the effect is already ongoing, the _counter_ is what gets added to. So take enough damage in the first turn as will get you _near_ dying, use your turn to eat your cactus, then die on her next attack to repeat the process, over and over again so that you have tons of turns to repeatedly heal a sixth of your HP.
@@Gaster60066 After finishing the Mines, backtrack to the first sandstorm map in the Dunes, there's a new cave entrance where some guy had marked an X on the wall. The Golden Cactus item hurts you for 5 HP the first turn, and then heals 15 HP passively for the next three turns.
My friend, it seems in the genocide run you cant backtrack to the mines once you get to martlet. Seems resetting is the only option.@@KendallMcIntosh128
While the fight itself was absolutely brutal,, everything else was phenomenal. This music is a banger, Zenith Martlet's design is absolutely sick! All in sll, i didn't mind dying over snd over

The serum is the main plot point of the pacifist ending, what caused Kanako and Chujin's death, and what drove Ceroba to do unthinkable acts. And Martlet just _has_ it
I think this fight captures a different feeling than the original genocide final boss of Undertale. There's honestly a "justification" you could consider for doing this to pretty much everyone else, but you have to dig deep to justify hurting Martlet. It reminds me of the Disbelief Papyrus fan animation honestly. If I was comparing this to Undertale, I would say it's more like if Undyne the Undying was the final boss instead of Sans. I think it's also worth noting that checking her in this state refers to her as a "worthy opponent." Even in this state, it seems like Clover still has some kind of respect for Martlet, as weird as that is. Shoutout to the game for remembering boss monsters are a thing and doing something with that concept! I'm pretty sure Chujin's Serum is what she used to become a mix of determined and boss monster. I guess it just feels weird to fight a final genocide boss who doesn't have any idea that you can keep coming back no matter what. Honestly, my emotional attachment to her and the sheer difficulty of the fight nearly made me give up, she almost got me to stop everything, but in the end I had to see how the route ended.
i think clover sees her as a worthy opponent as shes enacting her own justice upon you and is willing to do whatever it takes, just like clover in this instance, shes worthy in both strength and motivation
The thing i like is that martlet doesn’t even try to make you quit - you just start to feel bad the more you attack and progress and when she begs you at the end - you almost could reset over the guilt , however sans is a much more smarter opponent that wants to piss you off and insult so you reset or quit completely - that’s why I’m happy that the final boss for yellow isn’t just a smart but underwhelming appearance character but more of an undyne type character that is more like a traditional final boss while keeping the undertale charm
It's been days and I still haven't beaten the first phase of this godforsaken fight. Despite this, this fight is one of the most fun fights I've fought in this game.
martlet really pulled a "THIS IS A MESSAGE TO MY MASTER, THIS IS A FIGHT YOU CAN NOT WIN. I THINK THAT PAST YOUR GREAT DISASTERS, THEIR VICTORY STEERS BELOW YOUR SKIN." on us with this transformation lil bro thinks she is yharon
“Man that was a rough boss, but it’s finally over.” “Why is she getting back up…” “WHY IS THE MUSIC CHANGING!?” Update: 1 month later but I FINALLY BEAT HER!
@@oghcuteanimationhq5121 I swear the only warning they give is faster than the average human reaction time. I usually just have to guess when they come out or keep dashing
Extra tips that I feel like will be lesser known for this boss (also helpful for phase 2): -During the time freeze in the very first attack that tells you to dodge, if you're in the middle of charging, it'll continue charging AND you can shoot it during said time freeze THEN dodge (it helped me get a few more normals hits in afterwards and I wanted this fight done ASAP ‼️) -best way I remembered how to weave the claw attacks besides just timing the dodge is the angle of the claw: just go in the direction parallel of where the claw is facing, not to the sides -Apparently you can just...dodge through...the red boxes? Yellow ones too, but for like half of the time I spent on her I straight up thought the whole point of them being red was that you couldn't dodge through them????? lowkey hope I wasn't the only one to think that -THIS ONE IS FOR PHASE 2 but is the most important to me: During that star attack that comes after you at every angle, if you just let the big ones come after you WITHOUT shooting them, if you dodge into them with the right timing you they'll explode entirely with NO extra stuff breaking off from it, and NO damage. Use this time to Undertale Yellow all over her, it will make a difference anyways hoped this help I still don't know how to dodge half of her attacks cuz I don't have a 50 millisecond reaction time but I still pulled through even without auto fire AND all my items gone during phase 1💪 💛
The claws can actually be dodged really easily by dodging straight up or straight down, regardless of the direction of it the dodge always works it you get the timing right
There's a fanfic called 'Zenith of Justice', and there's a scene in it where Flowey is just steady chillin' on a nearby rooftop watching this all go down with a bucket of popcorn and everything. That is now my personal favorite headcanon.
I love that how clover had a reason to make genocide route unlike frisk, the thing that clover starts genocide to free 5 souls fits with justice soul perfectly, after ut yellow i started to wonder what was other 5 humans story, hope we will see an another fangame about other souls soon :D
Congrats on 1 MILLION!!! This is one of the best ost and also this is one of the best Undertale fangame of course!! Congrats again on 1 million views!! Deserved!
To think about it, Martlet used the substitute of a human soul and gained the same power Asriel had when he absorbed Chara's soul. It is the very power that he could have used to destroy the humans attacking him. And the very power that motivated humans in nearly wiping out monsters in the first place!
