Theoretically yes, but as you can see in this video, raised pop-up did it's job. Sometimes a raised pop up works better, but a lot depends on air pressure and other factors. Later we will also have a video comparing both raised and sunken pop-ups.
I've noticed with the raised pop up, the carp are less likely to spit it out, they more readily grab it once off and done, their feeding behaviour differs slightly when they're taking a bait that's off the bottom, they're less comfortable hanging about and sucking on the bait
