His pilgrimage trip in the Middle East where he is on right now that he had planned for a while and didn't want to just not go on the trip. So he choose the pilgrimage trip over the Olympics.

I miss the old NBA when they had talented PF's and Centers. 75% of the talent is perimeter based players. Even Embid and KD are soft perimeter bigs. They have one legitimate big and that's AD. They rely on jump shots entirely too much.
Ok, but to defend Team USA a bit: Derrick White plays a more selfless brand of basketball. If you're worried that egos might clash, then White is the obvious candidate. The old-heads have nothing left to prove, JT has shown he's willing to play his role, but Ant said he wants to be the first option and this JB attitude/entitlement indicates he might clash with Ant. They want a zero drama, pass-first and defensive minded team. White is the optimal candidate.
