Detailed comparison of Undisputed (ESBC) and Fight Night Champion, gameplay, animations, knockouts, attention to detail 0:00 Movement 1:18 Punch animations 6:40 Knockdowns/Flash knockouts 9:40 Cutscenes
the only reason fight night compares is bc there's been no other boxing games to follow. this is a small indie company making this game. fight night is fun but I feel this will be far better
I’m trying to keep an open mind, but honestly, everything just looks better in FNC to me (besides graphics, maybe). That game is still so good to this day.
yes that is what boxers do ;) swing there punches from the hips. undisputed is more of a simulation. FNC was way more arcady...i have over 1000 hours in FNC and played maybe 50 hours of undisputed. the fighting mechanics in the undisputed beta are already way better then the of FNC...i see great potential specially for esports....its more competitive then FNC....higher ranked games in FNC looked always the same and were a side step marathon ^^ believe me i know that....top10 germany...top50 europe
undisputed should've added referees inside the ring when the fight is happening... its so wrong having boxing fights without a damn referee during the fight and only appears when someone is knocked down 😂
That's what I hate is how stiff and robotic it is! Like how tf is it so hard for them to fix it? 8 months supposedly the game wasn't going to be that way so if anybody expects them to fix it they are just in denial now.
In fight night you can also just spam hooks, the head movement is dog shit, and many other things make no sense. Like how can ali not reach Tyson with a jab unless Tyson is in range lol, fight night is fun but it's a horse shit game
@@ReyMysterioReyTheMiz That has nothing to do with the original comment, If you want undisputed to be a great game, you have to realize its flaws, Undisputed punches are not driven from the hip like fight night does, simple
I've said it before if EA were smart they'd release a next gen update to fight night champion that improves the graphics with slight improvements and tweeks to the game and a couple of new boxers for $19.99 and they'd make a killing and it would be a great boxing game.
In Undisputed, players need to drop their level when throwing punches to the body. I've sparred alot and never threw a straight to the body without bending my knees. FNC has this.
True. I have thought of it too because in real life one of my favorite combinations is jab to the head than a right to the body and from their I raise up(because I had bend my knee to lower myself) and from their i throw a strong left hook.
So you actually go below their chest level to throw body shots? Did Muhammad Ali or Roy Jones ever throw body shots like in Fight Night Champion? Come on now, stop being disingenuous I just that made the Undisputed is more realistic and updated as compared to Fight Night Champion.
Footwork in undisputed is amazing and the toggle button to change the fluidity of it. Everyone in Fight Night moved the same as one another. People are blinded because they love one game so much
I think the movement is better in Undisputed but for the most part, the punching animations are better in FNC. For example, FNC has way better jab, straight and uppercuts but the combination punching in Undisputed does look a little better. I believe if they button that up and add little details, this can be a legendary game.
Yup, agree. The punches need to seem more impactful when they land, and hit detection could also use a bit more work. I think that's really the biggest issue the game has right now, if they could just fix that it would be a massive step in the right direction
To be comparing fight night against a game over 10 years later shows how ahead of its time it was and how lucky we were to play it. Bought that game the day it came out nd was bossing online back in uni days ha
Undisputed is a great game especially for a beta but they really need to get the knockdowns right. When a fighter gets knocked down, they are always in the middle of the ring even if they get knocked down in a corner. I guess they teleported? Also, having a ref in there breaking up a clinch and separating the fighters or ordering a fighter to the neutral corner when a fighter goes down would be epic.
@@stickii2131 who knows maybe its already been in the works longer than esbc i mean think about it why else would they have put isaac frost and andre bishop in two ufc games😏
@@alive4christ42 nah bro, EA can go fuck themselves for how they abandoned boxing send people too quick to forgive that shit. I'll support the ones that give a fuck about 🥊 Undisputed and Bloody knuckles Street boxing is who I'll be supporting. They are aware fans want a boxing game? 12 years and beyond EA been making you wait for another boxing game? Nah not me.
@@stickii2131 its not even that serious to be mad over though if your mad over something as small as that your either simple minded or you just have hate for everyone which is no way to go about our short lives
In Undisputed the player models and movement fluidity are miles better which goes without saying, although I'd love to see a slowmo knockout cam in Undisputed like we have in FNC. Also I'd like to see an improvement in celebration animations, or just a wider variety of different celebration animations. Just one example: have the coach or someone on the fighter's team pick them up in celebration, then have the fighter run and climb up on to the corners of the ring.
I agree. I have a sneaky suspicion that they’ve purposely chosen not to include these little details, as they want players in the beta to focus strictly on gameplay. It’s something they’re aware of for sure!
I really hope they polish it up it's still to stiff when they throw and the extensions on the shots are just not all there. It's still a bit robotic. Yes its better then it was but not at the level we thought or that they promised lol. It's sad a game so old can keep up. I mean look at the hooks in fight night they don't vanish through the arms and gloves the arms actually move when touched. The new game the punches somehow go through arms like it's magic. I would also appreciate them making it where when a shot lands we can almost feel it like where things move a bit more not just the skin. But the screen mo e slightly. You want to feel like it connected. All of you hyping it up aren't helping the situation. If you ride there Dicks telling them how fantastic it is then we won't get a truely polished game. We need to tell them all of the flaws we see so they try snd fix it. But they haven't fixed the stiffness since the leaks 8 months ago so I don't expect them to now lol.
Your right, we all want it to be great but there is already blind people who are lying to themselves, they refuse to point out all the flaws and it doesnt help at all, its like they have been so excited to play it they just plain refuse to see its issues and it has alot of them.
This was a great vid. I'm just being picky here but one observation was that all of the punch variations were not shown, maybe next time. For example in FNC you have 4 left hooks. Overhand hook, standard hook, hookercut/short hook, lunging hook then some stances have a signature short hook. With FNC jabs you have an up-jab, lunging jab, step in jab (some punch packages) and standard jab. I'm sure undisputed has variants of punches too. But for the person that has never seen FNC before there are quite a few more punch animations for each punch that were not displayed. Great vid and excellent idea on making this, it was very informative.
@@copperfronts1679 It was amazing. They also incorporated total punch control in EA MMA which came out in 2010 or around there. Once you learn the Total Punch Control using the buttons is horrible. It really limits what you can do and it also seems to use more stamina in FNC. Kind of like the game takes less stamina from your character if you use the sticks. (I could be wrong on that)
Can see they've spent a lot of time making the movement look more fluid but after actually getting hands on with the game I have to be honest in my opinion the movement is a bit sluggish. FNC allows you to move forward and quickly step back, Undisputed it almost feels like theres input lag between what you tell your player to do and when they actually do it. I also personally think punches (especially straight ones) could have a bit more weight behind them, don't know if its the hit boxes or animations but the punches feel a bit 'empty'. Definitely a lot of potential in the game but I thi k its gonna be super hard to beat FNC's level of intuity when it comes to controls.
With all the big fighters nowadays having a grand entrances and elaborate robes and trunks. It would be nice to have a customizable entrance with pyro, lights, entourage etc. and custom clothing options. Just adds to the theatrics of the game of what can happen outside of in-ring gameplay.
One thing Undisputed completely neglects which is what makes the Fight Night punches feel so much more heavy is the CAMERA MOVEMENT. The camera is static no matter what, makes it look like nothing is landing.
Great Video! Honestly you can tell the dated animations in FNC but the game was still years ahead of it's time. Undisputed is still in early access so who knows what that game will be like by the time it fully releases. There is a lot of room for improvement but the game is already decent in it's state. The nostalgia of FNC will always have people thinking it was a better game, but Undisputed is definitely a 10yr improvement on the boxing genre of gaming.
Graphics go to undisputed. Everything else goes to FNC. The counter window in FNC was done perfectly. The punches in undisputed looks like its missing that pop that FNC has.
That counter window is not a real simulation, or does not replicate real life at all. Fight night is arcade and does a better job replicating a fake game
I think Undisputed has massive potential if they can take some ideas from what you see here in FNC it will be so good like if they made the punch animations just a tad more lose make the fighter look like he's putting something behind it especially the uppercuts and show the fighters wearing damage like black eyes and stuff more swelling, cuts ect also a ref in the ring and instant reply alot to work on but will be great if they implement it all I would say loosen the fighters up a bit with punch animation is a must
Tbh, Undisputed needs a few tweeks and additions to get on par with the stunning presentation of FNC. A more close camera that follows the action and helps with the overall feedbacks (like when you connect a hit or are close to a knockout), better TV/Cinematic rappresentation, and the additions of replays to showcase all that technological goodness. From there they only need to make good carreer and modes. That said, this is an Indie team that is now capable to compete with a major title of 10 years prior, and this is a great achievement.
Tbf as well the punches in fight night would look pretty similar to undisputed (apart from fight nights horrible uppercut) if you took out fight nights camera shake as it makes the impact look more hard hitting
For us to be comparing a game that hasn’t came out to a game that came out over 7 or 8 years ago says alot about how great that game was. I was so excited about this game but the game isn’t even close to fight night. Looks to fake punches don’t even land smh
The replays and everything are alot easier to perfect than the actual boxing system and flow of the movement. I think undisputed for early access is amazing. Obviously alot of work to add on but the foundations are solid to work on.
For everyone talking trash, this game is currently still in beta. That’s not even the final version of it. The final version comes out in October this year.
Fight Night Champions was released in 2010, 2 gens ago. I have it downloaded on my Series X and still play it occasionally. I’ve been wanting a new boxing game with modern day boxers but Undisputed is looking a bit lackluster. Even compared side by side with a game that came out over a decade ago. I’m still looking forward to this game but I’m hoping they do some more improvements
The fact that we comparing a old ass game to a new one just shows they got a lot of work to do on esbc , it should be way more realistic movement in the game
although undisputed has over a decade on fight night, it is also being developed by a small team with a much smaller budget. itll be interesting to do this again once the game has been fully released if that ever happens.
They they can’t do it right don’t do it at all. They obviously don’t have the resources to make this game as amazing as it should be. Fight night is a decade old and still holds up better then most fighting games these days.
It's not that the punching is missing anything its just that Fight night has the camera shit with big hits that gives the illusion of strength.. it's just arcade racing games having unrealistic blur to display speed vs Gran Turismo more realistic take on speed.
Finally see why the punching looks so unsatisfying in Undisputed. The camera shake in the direction of punches trajectory coupled with the slight zoom in is why FN's punches look impactful and just feel more satisfying. Sound design as well. There is also the kinetic movement that seems to be a bit more pronounced in the punching in FN as well. The boxer stance seems to be a bit wider in general in FN and that I believe contributes to why the punch movement looks a bit better. Undisputed's ring movement is dope. That is when I feel like I'm looking at the next great thing. They just seem to stiffen up a bit too much when punches are thrown. I also like the fact that Undisputed has that body ripple. That is nice. If they could some how mix a bit of that FN natural muscle flex in......MY GOD. The combination punching in Undisputed looks more fluid and surprisingly more impactful than FN. The moving punches also look better in Undisputed. Blocking is everything FN used to be back when you could parry punches. Knockdowns are a about the same to me. I think Undisputed needs a little bounce when dudes hit the canvas. Not much, but in some falls it looks a bit too flat. Like the fighter fell into a ring made of memory foam. They look kind of gentle, as if they are being layed down. No head bouncing off of the canvas, or limbs for that matter. Cut scenes need work. Undisputed seems bare, and FN is just old but there is more of a "Team" feel to it. This video actually cheered me up a bit on Undisputed. I wasn't as sold as so many others were, but looking at them in a cleaner head to head gave me some hope. Undisputed is truly a nudge away from excellence if a few things can be smoothed out. Great video!
Undisputed needs to allow the the continuing of the the lock on to the head or the body after you knock someone out so you can continue to punch/pummel after the ko, just like FN did. That was an awesome feature among other features the game needs to include in the final product; also the KO replay.
Keep it real Fight Night looks better undisputed graphics looks decent but Fight Nights punches and knockdowns looks more realistic even after all these years in my opinion.
@Gamer D undisputed looks extremely stiff, most punches in the video here I've seen of the punches look really stiff. No force behind them at all. Plus the movement
Is fnc under cinematic or simulation presentation that could be a difference maker cinematic is dramatic asf and idk I only use it sometimes. I like the smoothness undisputed has but the punches do seem slow as hell and rather less damaging! But the footwork is crazy in undisputed hands down? Do they have the ability to change guards during the fight? I think I saw that somwwhere
@@Thithithi39 you clearly can see fight night is better in terms of gameplay this isn't showing the glitches of undisputed or terrible animations, you have boxers doing splits and getting knocked out without getting hit but that's not in the comparison...
Yeah, FNC was, but I only say that bcus it has yet to be bested to this day. Undisputed is going to be a flop. SCI doesn't listen to the community. And they've already made some weird, dumb design decisions.
Camera work, ambient lighting, ambient audio, intros/cutscenes, all appears to be better in fight night. Undisputed has better boxer models and details in graphics (of course since its newer). But it still needs so much work.
Been playing FNC for like 3 4 years, I really enjoy it, played the crap out of it. Last week I started playing Undisputed and I can confirm that Undisputed is better. They need to adjust the damage and stamina, but the way you can control distance, be defensive or attack a lot.. is way better. Also tbh the punches look better, it s not about " they have to look super powerfull " it's not a movie. Looking from outside it seems like they have no power but, in FNC they overreact a lot when hit, also they are lunged a lot, every punch seem to have maximum power but... in terms of simulation it's not well represented. My problem is that the straights need's to be worked on because they kinda feel stiff.
the problem is with fight night once an input is pressed both fighters are put in a single tied in animation in order to make the gameplay appear somewhat smooth and make the punches appear to land cleaner. couldn't tell before but once it was pointed out to me i can't miss it now. Very arcade like lol
Exactly. You nailed it. Arcade is the proper way to define it 100% Undisputed will end up being so much more fluid in the end. It's already miles ahead in this aspect as it sits.
Yup! People are really looking through the stalgia colored glasses. Fight Night Champion is one of my favorite games of all time and even I realize how dated it is compared to Undisputed.
@Mider-Span Man Of course it's dated, only silly people would honestly think that fight night still has groundbreaking mechanics. Truth is, it doesn't, it feels exactly like a 10 year old game. Only thing is we don't have anything else to compare Undisputed with since boxing simulator games have been abandoned for quite some time. Of course Fight Night still looks stunning to casual gamers. Most of them still dont own 4k or 8k displays. People still play on 1080p LOL. For them to even to say FNC still plays better than Undisputed is ridiculous. That couldn't be further from the truth, real ones that have played boxing games for a long time know how refined Undisputed is in terms of fluid boxing animations and physics. I have played all fight nights, knockout kings and everything else boxing simulation related. Never got into those cartoony boxing games like Ready 2 Rumble, way too cheesy for me. This game has the most robust animation in a boxing game.
My Memory I Champion Is That It was the Perfect Boxing Game, I Been waiting For A New One And When Undisputed Was Announced I was Afraid it wouldn't hold up at all, So Far Looks Promising and Maybe More Realistic
It's worth noting we're comparing this game to a game from ten years and two console generations ago. That's like comparing fight night champion to knock out kings 2001.
After watching this it seems like not all the animations are bad. But it seems to be robotic when you mix up in footwork and head movement. It also feels slow. Still some work to be done
People are just looking through nostalgic tinted glasses when they say that Fight Night Champion is better than Undisputed. That's one of my favorite games of all time and even I can admit that it is dated and that undisputed will definitely take the genre above and beyond! 🥊
Fight night for a game developed in the 2010s being able to hold its own to a game in 2024 is crazy Then again fight night is made by EA which is worth billions and has hundreds of developers undisputed is a small indie development But for a indie team they are doing well hopefully they deliver
Undisputed looks good and has a lot of potential. Movement is nice but some of the punch animations look like they stop once they make contact instead of flowing all the way like having a follow through
Undisputed need to make those flash close ups when the punch is landed,it will make the feeling of landed punch and given damage.Thats It. Just look at the landed punch effect, Undisputed has static camera when they hit, FNC has some flash zoom for a split second.
