So interesting, thank you for sharing! There are so many videos on women's fashion of the time it's very interesting to see men's fashion as well.

Lorien, we are pleased you enjoyed it. If you are interested in making something, have a look at how to make a waistcoat at studio.ru-vid.commRkr8wPTVvE

This was such a delight to watch. And so informative! I dare say, why would we want Colin Firth if you are here?

Most impressed by your expanding wardrobe, Mr Oswald - we could do with a few more Regency Gentleman Tailors out there!

Excellent. I had ever realised that’s why they carried magnifying glasses

Beautifully demonstrated, I myself have taken on wearing my Victorian and late Victorian outfits while teaching from home ...

@@RegencyRumBluffers Makes perfect sense what you're writing there, indeed.... for me it's part of time travelling really, as I have a strong connection to this point in time. So for me it's definitely not costume, but a kind of wear that feels very natural, thus good quality fabrics and craftsmanship are absolutely essential... looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful work of tailoring art. Happy Christmas :-)

Fun fact the first functional patent of a sewing machine was invented in 1790 but during the revolution in France in the late 1790s a mob of seemstresses alegidely ransacked a tailors shop in Paris destroying the only functional sewing machine in the 18th century because they feared it would put them out of buiseness

Without underdrawers, the men had to be very conscientious in their elimination habits. Or did they simply pull those long tail shirts down to cover their naughty bits?

Thank you for your comment: First, I suppose we have to remember that standards of personal hygiene were rather different 200 years ago, though higher echelons of society were more particular than the others (viz. Beau Brummel's insistence on scrupulous personal hygeine) Second, you correctly identify that long shirts were useful in many more ways than one, as part of the stategies to improve the wearer's visual appearance some of which were ridiculed by Rowlandson and Gillray in their cartoons of the period.
