The launch event of UNEP's newest report on "Single-use supermarket food packaging and its alternatives: Recommendations from life cycle assessments" took place on 11 October 2022, during the 13th International Conference on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Food held in Lima, Peru. The report draws recommendations for policy makers and LCA practitioners on what are the supermarket food packaging solutions that have the least environmental footprint.
This report is the last of a series of meta-analyses of LCA studies on single-use plastic products and their alternatives, in response to Resolution 9 of the fourth United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA4), on “Addressing Single-use plastic pollution”.
