I don't travel that much but I know what he's talking about on a smaller scale. There was an Australian couple I ran into three times in totally random places in Europe in two different countries (in Venice, on the ferry to Sicily and I think it was in Paris on a random street). Hundreds of miles apart without knowing where the other was going. It was so funny we've stayed in touch.
