These things need to be on every gun store shelf in CA, but even before the TRIPPLE THREAT PANIC, it seemed likes Fitelite makes like less than a dozen of these things a year and they end up in non-ban states.

Great video John. Can't wait to build my 300. I've been waiting for this video to see how it performed. Let us know what you find out on the over pressure issue. Thanks again

Ever find out what the issue was?
@GrySgtBubba
@GrySgtBubba 6 лет назад
I'd say that's an ammo issue. Second you said "Honady", I'm positive it was their ammo that caused that. They've really started using some shady materials in past couple years. I'd look into Nosler, Federal Gold, Gorilla and others.
@ShootingTipsandTricks
@ShootingTipsandTricks 6 лет назад
That's what I figured, but I don't like to point fingers until I've ruled out all other options.

shooting tips and tricks Naw, I fully agree. But I'm pretty comfortable in my years of knowledge and even personal experience with Hornady 308 doing sumpin a bit similar about 2 years over the course of about a year plus, both here in California and Arizona where a friend lives.

So is this SCR lower technically a Mil-Spec one?
@DyllonMcDonald68
@DyllonMcDonald68 6 лет назад
Try using a m4 or m16 zeroing target, you will thank me, m4 zeroing target for 14.5 inch barrel or shorter, m16 zeroing target for 16 inch barrel or longer.
@ShootingTipsandTricks
@ShootingTipsandTricks 6 лет назад
I've used them in the past, they are really nice targets.

Definitely an ammo problem and dont be suprised 300 blackout is not a medium to long range caliber its better in a pistol length barrel at closer ranges not saying it wont be deadly at 100 yards just not the best

Forgive my ignorance, but how would the SCR lower contribute to inconsistent shooting? It is just the recoil system and the BCG. Wouldn't the inconsistency come down to the ammo and/or the barrel?
@ShootingTipsandTricks
@ShootingTipsandTricks 5 лет назад
One of the main principle behind accuracy is having everything inline with the bore, that one of the factors that gives the ar-15 such high inherent accuracy. Having the buffer system offset from the bore can create variations like inconsistent bolt lock or tilt in the bolt carrier.
@HalcyonVoid
@HalcyonVoid 5 лет назад
@@ShootingTipsandTricks but that doesn't get worked out by the barrel? I mean the carterage gets chambered for n the barrel, which lines up the round, and the bullet is long gone from the barrel before the recoil system kicks in. Where does the variations come into play? And I am not trying to be thick headed or anything. Genuinely interested.
@ShootingTipsandTricks
@ShootingTipsandTricks 5 лет назад
@@HalcyonVoid The variation comes into play the moment the round is fired. At that moment the brass is slammed into the bolt face, then expanded to fill the chamber. If the brass is hitting a uneven or loose bolt head, it won't expand evenly, witch can cause pressure fluctuations and harmonic shutter in the barrel. Smaller cartridges like the 22lr and 17hmr can negate some of this due to the mass of the barrel being grotesquely more than the forces created by the cartridge.
@HalcyonVoid
@HalcyonVoid 5 лет назад
@@ShootingTipsandTricks I see, thanks for the explanation.

How much did you pay for that lower? And where did you get it?
@GrySgtBubba
@GrySgtBubba 6 лет назад
just1more Ares SCR now branded and sold by Fightlite and Ares. Lowers are about $550-600. Full guns run $1000-1400. Better to build from their lower. You get ALOT better upper for that total cost.
@Osprey1994
@Osprey1994 6 лет назад
Bubbafied 375CT what upper would you suggest that performs better than theirs?
@GrySgtBubba
@GrySgtBubba 6 лет назад
OspreyBravo18 For the lack of furniture on theirs AND the fact you've gotta buy their bolt catch for $35...almost any upper built is better than their options, but you're still forced to buy their bolt catch. It should come with it standard!
@GrySgtBubba
@GrySgtBubba 6 лет назад
OspreyBravo18 Building off their lower, I got a 300blk barrel, low pro block & tube, 10.5in quad-rail and a Gibbs G4 upper for a grand total of $1300. If I could build off of a real AR15 lower, that price would be about 1000ish. Personally, I'm goin M1A for that pricing... Alot more weapon for about the same pricing.

Ammo or gun? I say probably your bipod is mounted onto the barrel, anytime you change the aimpoint, your bipod changes torque and pressure on your barrel
@carpingnyland8518
@carpingnyland8518 6 лет назад
I'm pretty sure that's an optical illusion and that it is actually attached to a mount that is attached to the top-front of the handguard.
@GrySgtBubba
@GrySgtBubba 6 лет назад
sky rebecca Its mounted to the rail and just hangs over the barrel. It's a goofy ass bipod, but it doesn't touch the barrel at all.

Ammo.
@Sflhunter
@Sflhunter 6 лет назад
Absolutely BS you want them to touch and not jump to the lands
@ShootingTipsandTricks
@ShootingTipsandTricks 6 лет назад
If the bullets are touching the lands it can cause pressure spikes and premature thought erosion. Optimal seating depth is five to ten thou. off the lands, some production ammo can be as much as twenty thou. off. Barrel twist is 1:7 inches.
