Unexpected Train Puts Marathon Runners At Risk 

Correction: Runners put themselves at risk; each of them should have been disqualified and fined, perhaps even arrested.

train always has the right of way....may sound mean but if someone got run over while doing a stupid trespassing stunt like this I really would not feel to sorry for them....it would be sad and all but risking your life for a race????? really?

Saying the train is at fault is like driving your car off of a bridge into a river and then saying the river shouldn’t have been there.

The stories of this are all critical of the train operator which I cannot believe. The only people doing anything wrong here are the runners and I have to ask how dumb these people must me to act in this way. Apparently the conductor threatened arrest of those climbing on the train and I agree anyone identified in the footage/images should be charged with trespass its that simple. Astounded that there are people lacking the brain capacity out there like these runners - maybe better for the train to remove them from the gene pool!

Wow. Thank god that wasen't a CSX or NS Mainline Corridor because if that was a CSX or NS line, Someone would of been killed possibly.

It's also hilarious that people think a marathon takes priority over a train operator actually operating their trains on their tracks. No wonder people are drinking fish tank cleaner these days.

You need to remember train will not stop immediately Just because you have an event going on no matter if its a Parade, marathon, bike race, walking anything that involves crossing a train tracks. Remember once the crossing is active it belongs to the rail road so you basically tresspassing. If you wanna have a marathon, bike race or something that does not involve crossing train tracks look at an alternatative route that will work good with local, state and county agencies. Remember there was a group of cyclist long time ago in a bike race the route that was planned went through the train track well what happen was a there was a train coming and instead of stopping and waiting the cyclist ignored the signal and went most of the cyclist were injured and killed. The race director was responsible for the route. After that day for the future rules change all cyclist must stop and wait until its safe to cross

In my view, I can't entirely blame the Railroad, As they're doing their job, Which is to delivery freight, I understand that you would want to win the Marathon but however that doesn't mean you get to do stuff like this, Also the runners at the end was in a more dangerous risk than the ones infront, once the train starts moving, you'll be dragged down the tracks.

Hell man I would have stopped and waited.Going between the train cars really bad idea.The train can move and no one could know.With a sudden jerk move.I would have crossed in front of the train with it at a stand still.

SURE COULD HAVE BEEN A BUNCH OF DEAD IF THE TRAIN HAD STARTED MOVING
