Egbert van der Poel's painting of a hugely significant event in the history of Delft has captured the imagination of many writers. Find out how Al-Ani came to know the painting and the story behind the inspiration she found.
Jananne Al-Ani is an artist, researcher and lecturer working with photography, film and video. She is interested in the power of testimony and the documentary tradition, from intimate recollections of absence and loss to official accounts of historic events.
