- A beadlock or bead lock is a mechanical device that secures the bead of a tire to the wheel of a vehicle.
Tires and wheels are designed so that, when the tire is inflated, the tire pressure pushes the bead of the tire against the inside of the wheel rim so that the tire stays on the wheel and the two rotate together. In situations where tire pressure is insufficient to hold the bead of the tire in place, a beadlock is needed.
- A central tire inflation system (CTIS) is a system to provide control over the air pressure in each tire of a vehicle as a way to improve performance on different surfaces. For example, lowering the air pressure in a tire creates a larger area of contact between the tire and the ground and makes driving on softer ground much easier. It also does less damage to the surface.
This is important on work sites and in agricultural fields. By giving the driver direct control over the air pressure in each tire, maneuverability is greatly improved.
Another function of the CTIS is to maintain pressure in the tires if there is a slow leak or puncture. In this case, the system controls inflation automatically based on the selected pressure the driver has set.

The run flat option sounds like a no-go. I think the 2 piece wheel with beadlock option is the way to go.

Thomas, as always, excellent. However, you need to mention the requirement for special runflat grease inside the tires with runflats. Otherwise, tires run flat will catch fire. I have concerns the grease could cause problems with CTIS if installed. Charlie

Welche Felgen mit der Option Bead-Lock werden oder wurden für den gezeigten Zetros genutzt? Die müssen ja auch Inside-Out funktionieren für die hintere Achse. Vielen Dank Which Rims did you use with Bead-Lock on the shown Zetros, because they must be able to get used inside-out on the rear axle? Thanks

Hi, nice video. I wonder, are there beadlock wheels available for my Unimog 1300L on the standard 20"rim? I have already once driven off the tire while running on 1,5bar pressure. By Murphy's law, of course, the tires were changed in the rain and mud.

Thanks for the video. When you talk about CTIS is this like the Unimog that can be operated from the cabin whilst moving or is it the type where you have to stop and attach hoses to the wheels? Thanks

there is a panel in the cockpit to check the pressures, no external tubes, the connections are inside the axle

What about a tire with double section air, one internal and other exterinal. So when you are in off road mode, suck out the air of the external section but keeping the air in the internal section. It may also prevent punch. Sorry for my English

Hello Matias, I only know that technology from MTB bicycles, never saw it on a offroad vehicle. I think it would make sense, but I doubt it exists.

As far as I know, beadlock´s haven't been approved in Australia, and nor do they fit into the standards that have already been approved so, means they are not allowed

An explosion of the front tire you will go into the dich you cant steer with a beadlock only in the front you will have control to steer.
