Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen is my favourite game of all time, so this has me so excited! Square only seems interested in remaking Tactics Ogre, so this is probably as close as we will get to an Ogre Battle game.

They did Tactics Ogre because they already had a pretty solid system to go off of with the PSP version. But Ogre Battle is much older, and thus it would require a lot more work, for an even MORE niche subgenre.

Something like this, with the collaboration of Vanillaware and ATLUS together really needs to be supported. The gorgeous character design is so nice to look at Im having trouble processing it. I might be a total mark for JRPGs, but as a big fan of Ogrebattle, this is definitely getting got as I have the PS5 Collector's Edition preordered. Thanks for checking this demo David!

Wait till you start finding the little secrets they sprinkled all over the game. I was wondering if it would have all the crazy hidden stuff to find like OB games had, and after finding a ridiculously broken sword (25 attack and 5 to all stats!) and a secret shop that sells INSANE stuff including items to customize the look and growth of even story characters, I can safely say this does not disappoint! The time limits in battles kind of worried me, because I don't like being rushed in a game for artificial difficulty, but there is even a way around THAT. Incredible heir to the legacy Ogre Battle created.

Demo was very fun. Going to try it again on PS5 tonight to compare to Switch version. Just like 13 Sentinels, I was worried when seeing trailer, but getting hands on the systems those fears go away quickly.

12 Zodiac is awesome, easily the biggest problem with the "original" version is that the Espers sucked and were mostly useless except for like 2 or 3 of the most powerful ones. Zodiac completely fixed that and Espers were total wrecking balls, but still mostly balanced.

Me too, David. I've been hoping for YEARS for 3 IPs from our time (I'm old too) to be revived, and I was beginning to think that would NEVER happen, but Unicorn Overlord checks one off that list! About time. And man does it look incredible. After spending some time with the demo, and with all the little secrets and nuances I found JUST in that 5 or so hours, I can say with confidence this surpasses the classic Ogre Battle in every way! Now, if some talented developer out there would just modernize and bring back classic Shining Force, and the sleeper hit cult classic Dark Wizard, all will be right with the universe!

I've played the demo of this. I went from not giving a care about it, cause tactical RPG games are just not for me, to basically "This may be my very first Tacical RPG game I may end up getting." It basically makes me want to plan an attack, to strategically have fun while doing it. Though $60 is just too much, so hopefully it'll go on sale someday.

I am about halfway through the demo, and I am loving it, and glad I have the collectors version ordered. I know some people don't love the automatic battle system, but I am very happy to have variety in my tactical RPGs since I play those the most by far.

I have to say this game looks incredible. I have the demo downloaded and look forward to checking it out soon - and this is coming from someone who has never been a big Strategy RPG kind of guy. I hope I can get to the demo even after the offical release and be able to make some progress in it to carry over into the full game whenever that maybe, as I have a tendicy of not picking up a game on the day of release. I never played ogre battle or any rts games quite like this but this game demo was amazing. I was playing on expert and loved what I played I got my armies rank to C and the demo cut off right before I could add a 4th slot to my main unit 😂😭, this is a day 1 purchase for me! Building units was a great joy and is going to get so much more complex. I can say Goodbye to 1000 more hours to a strategy rpg gem ❤❤❤❤

😵 Look, you guys... This game may just have the meatiest sounds on the Switch! Seriously, the thundering hooves, and the thunder... I'm not even using a subwoofer, and my speakers are trying to tear the ceiling down! I'm going to have to play Xenoblade 2 and 3 with the volume upped a bit to compare. The gameplay is reminding me a little of Dragon Force on the Saturn, actually - except I can sort of understand what's going on. (Different frames o' reference, eh?)

I’m halfway in the demo and so far I’m very impressed at how it seems to be a very successful succesor to Ogre Battle 64 in many ways. There is a looooot of depth that OB64 doesn’t have in the strategies with skills and attacks but at the same time I wonder if it will end up being a bit too much, a bit too cumbersome? In a way the simplicity of OB64 is part of its charm and success.. I’m still definitely impressed and will buy it to support more games like these. This is a very fun kind of strategy rpg that I never could understand why there wasn’t any made anymore…

The only strategy RPGs I completed were Fire Emblem 3 Houses, specifically Silver Snow Black Eagles, and Persona 5 Tactica. So, I'm interested in this one. And I think I may enjoy it, due to the whole medieval, feudal aesthetic, and the addition of Elves, angels and other races. Kinda feels a bit like an anime Lord of the Rings. So, I'm excited to see what this game has in store. And thanks to P5T igniting my interest in tactical RPGs, I think this one may push me to help think outside the box and think of pretty unique squad combinations. Already have my Switch copy pre-ordered

I've only played 13 Sentinels in terms of VanillaWare games, but that was enough to get me excited the moment this was shown in the Nintendo Direct. I have some other games in my backlog, though, and I've never been more motivated to clear it. Also, why does that food look so good?
