So in terms of raw phys attack numbers, an upgraded Kingsblade Cornix will actually give 30 attack total because of the +5 to all stats. However, the +1 to AP and PP plus the debuff immunity and the fact that it is locked to Alain allows you to have TWO characters to hold infinite cosmic power in the palms of their hands
I just got this sword using Amalia, she's very helpful for this fight if you're underleveled, my team was around lvl 32. I boosted amalias init to max with a certain item from the windgates, then she does an omega-shatter boosted by a gamblers coin to instantly oneshot Gerald. Then a quick impetus to nuke the full column which is on the right. That leaves you with just a witch and an armor-sword-guy which is still surprisingly hard because u use a lot of resources for that opening and you're still heavily underleveled. But a rune sword crit from Alain and a few bolts from Liza got the job done!
A shaman makes a big difference for this fight. I cleared it with Hilda frontline, Berengaria, Selvie for defense seal, and Eltolinde in the back. I can't remember the last, it was probably Gloucester or Dinah.
Problem is this guy is so strong you're probably already ready to sleep through the final fight before you can even damage him enough to get this sword lol. Like allain unless you respec him using a mirror has terrible offense so it's quite difficult to put a team together that can one round this guy without being stupid over leveled or using materials to enhance weapons which I like to avoid until I have all the weapons before doing that.
Did this at level 30-32 ish with Alain, a couple of Griffins with strong axes, and using a Witch to Ice Conferral my Elven Augur's board attack. Strong AoE is the correct strategy
I was able to beat him without Trinity Rain. I used Monica and Bertrand as my front lines. Govil, Mordon, Ramona backline with Mordon in the middle. Mordon just proceeded to decimate enemies with Assaulting Blow.
Speaking of magickal attacks, I have a question. If I have a Witch use a Conferral ability to give magick damage to a unit, is the extra magick damage based off the Witch's magickal attack, the attacker's or both?
Yeah, I stumbled blindly into Trinity Rain chargeless cast just earlier today. That unit went from mediocre to possibly my highest dps unit, though also squishier then most. I even have it set up to where my sorceress will have an extra 2 AP, leaving her with another cast of the spell, though so far nothing has lived to need it and I may want to remove some of the nicer equipment I was running on other characters for better minmax.
I beat him with trinity rain as well, quick impetus from a shaman + a cleric that had the item that gives a magic attack a boost, and then for the rest of the game my best squad was this squad but with the recast item attached as well so the mage would cast trinity rain twice
I cleared it this morning with Alain and Amalia up front, Yunifi, a Viking, and Scarlett in the back. I opted for the Viking's opening skill to make all my attacks unguardable, greatly increasing my damage output. Yunifi was spec'd for speed (initiative 63, faster than any opponent even after the opening buff) and instant cast of Glacial Rain (Scarlett was wearing the White Cat Hood), which cleared one or two enemies. Had to tweak Amalia's tactics so she cleared grandpa first turn, then it was mostly about altering tactics to get the right order of operations and enough damage to kill everyone. Amalia was level 40, everyone else was 30-31.
Viking turned out to be clutch as I started analyzing the fights and why I was losing them. Changing to that opener made it so I killed all the support characters. Form there it was tweaking tactics to have the right kill order and actually take out grandpa. It was a fun fight and kinda cool that I came across your video afterward. Also: cheesing the boss fight of the first run of the Coliseum was a fun puzzle. @@TitaniumLegman
I was able to get Impetus + Trinity Rain setup pretty early, finished all of Drakenhold and half of Elfheim. Reached S renown after defeating Alcina and restoring all of the nearby villages. I fought against Gerard back then, but I was too underleveled 😂 about lv23-25 only at that time. Had no way to cheese, but just needed to progress and level up organically I guess. In retrospect, I could have grinded for the recast orb from Arena Coliseum, for my sorceress, but I was too lazy to grind arena coins 😂 But I eventually switched things up, I used Yahna as my millenium scepter holder, Railanor for culture and quick impetus, Selvie for defensive curse and familiar's choker, and mommy Virginia (or any anti-armored unit) to kill off the remaining Vanguard after the Trinity Rain. 5th unit is a flex unit, I placed Alain for the theme.
For me i just swept them with the werelion, it was the one time i actually made him gor damage rather then tanking and he just slathered everything. He one shot the entire front row besides grandad who was at like 50 hp from tanking my other units so he was already low hp and then he hit the back row. It was so fun. Also he was lvl 34 if anyone was curious (alain was 36) Team was front row alain and werebear and back row eltolinde, druid (who was buffing the lion) and werelion
my celeste with boreas axe literally 1 shot gerard at lvl 30's, i didnt know it was suppose to be a hard fight. the rest got roasted by hilda with her dragon😂
Honestly the swords greatest boon is the immunity to all ailments and debuffs basically. I've found 3 of those items in the game and 2 of em come from this. The ring and the sword. The divine shard trader sells a greatshield with the immunity as well. Having 3 out of 5 allies immune to basically everything makes things trivial almost.
Man. I really hate spoiler videos, but you got to do what you got to do. I'll give a dislike and save it to watch later until I finish the game myself.
God team is sorceress, cleric, soldier, valkyria and feather shield. It will annihilate any team in the game that doesn't have reflect magick. Millennium rod, cat hood, quick cast, keen call. I enjoyed UO but it was way too easy. Sadly at the highest difficulty its only way of being more challenging is spamming support fire out the ass. Kind of a lame mechanic but whatever.
