I like the zip code and gps scanning features and looking forward to giving it a try. My IC-R10 still has some uses, but time to upgrade.

I'm right there with you. I have the uniden truck tracker iii and it's so outdated now. This new one seems so complicated.

Don’t throw your old one away, you never know if they go back to analog in the event the digital wireless network goes down for any reason.

+RGV Fire Medical Response You can either "Temporary" or "permanently" avoid a system, department or channel. If you have a system avoided it won't come back up until you remove the avoid. It would be easier to disable the service types you arent interested in then enable them when you need.

can u store fave channels in banks like theold ones did???

+sonicx572 You would need to program the desired Airshow/thunderbirds frequencies before listening. Check out my "Uniden Sentinel Software Beginners Guide" video this explains how to program using the Sentinel software.

Why must you remove the batteries to charge them? At this price, I can not comprehend the inability to charge while operating when connected to 12 volts. Uniden seems to be slipping backward in the engineering department! I was ready to make the purchase when I discovered this and some other features that have been omitted, what a shame. I go back decades with Uniden equipment, now not so much anymore.

@Roy Van Wyk You can either use the Full database or favorites lists to scan. To turn the Full Database off you would need to go into the menu under "set scan selection". We recommend using the sentinel software to create favorites lists, programming manually is pretty difficult. We also offer a service on our website to program the radio for you.

@ TheCatography To use the zip code feature all you have to do is hit the "Zip Services" Button on the Radio. USA and Canada will appear as selectable options, with USA selected hit the "E" button. Next, enter the desired zip code, Once entered press the "E" button. That's it! I hope this helps, sorry for the late response.

@@shanemarcotte2062 The Sentinel software isn't required to operate the zip code feature, The software is used to apply Firmware & Database Updates. You would want to download the software to update your database to the most current version though.

@Walter Unfortunately you cannot change the Military time setting, You can adjust the time in the menu under settings/set clock.

You must have purchased the DMR upgrade first. Uniden has never released how to use these new modes to the public (altho the software suppliers have figured it out). You should join RadioReference which is pretty much the place to be for US listeners. There is one thread that directly addresses your question, altho there are several others that relate to DMR programming (but not necessarily T3...forums.radioreference.com/threads/programming-dmr-tier-3-questions.427983/

@michael mckeithan Wake County uses a mixture of systems, Wake County (SmartZone), Cary/Wake(Project 25 Phase I) & North Carolina VIPER. Frequencies change on these periodically, If you have the latest updates you should be good to go.
