Here we have a review of the Uniden EZI33XLT ATC scanner and how to use guide. This is my first scanner and has been very good in terms of picking up frequncies on a long range and a good range of features on the product. Bought the EZI 33 this week....c/w chargeable battery's.....very pleased with its performance....good strong clear audio.....sensitive....strong near by transmissions dont o it. Only down side....the manual is poor.....had scanners for 30 years....took me a day to figure how to enter freqs manually....but all ok now....would have liked more info on battery charging ie to tell when the batt is fully charged. And what I can use to charge it....my phone chargers are 700ma....manual seems to say 350mm max.

Hi and thanks for the review. Based on this and reviews on amazon I decided to buy this (as my Maycom ar108 stopped working), but I think it's quite poor! I live under the flight path of Gatwick (15miles) and although I can see and hear the planes overhead, the scanner picks up nothing!! I'm going to change the aerial asap but wondered if you picked up anything from the other channels? The only sound I pick up is a channel on FM band... Any advice would be greatly appreciated

+poskett Hello, firstly I hope you enjoyed the review and found it informative plus thanks for the comments. When I got the scanner with standard Ariel i was able to pick up the AC from around 9 Miles from the airport and im down in a valley. Have you made sure your on the right frequency for Gatwick? Also make sure your squelch is set around 0 or 1 as being far away its harder to pick the transmissions up. The sound is annoying but you get used to it. The nearer you go the higher you can raise it too. Even if you can see the planes it all depends on your visual range to the Airport tower and thats why being up high is always good. Other than that i cant think of anything else but you could try twitter.com/Uniden_America (there twitter for answers) Anyway i hope this helped a tat and sorry if it didn't!!

Good video...I see it was 8 years ago....I am looking for a new scanner for visits to the airport....need a hand held. I am undecided between this EZI-33 and the much more expensive uniden UBC 125. I only want to listen to VHF AM Civil Airband so dont need the extra coverage of the UBC 125. The specs show that the cheaper EZI 33 has a louder audio output.....that the more expensive UBC 125....would you know if that is the case....I would prefer a stronger audio. Nick in the UK.

Help please, I get all you say about programming single frequencies into each of the buttons 1,2 & 3. But.....how do you feed a selection of numbers into the scan, I’ve read and re read instructions but can’t do it. Please do a supplementary video showing how to load a list for scanning. Most airports have around 6 live frequencies of interest, so I need to enter 6 then for it to auto scan between. Is this possible please?

Just bought one of these, not sure if I have made a rookie mistake, was hoping for something I could just switch on and listen in, I live under the flights paths for both, Liverpool and Manchester airports, can you recommend a scanner that would do the job from a home setting

It does you switch it on and scan the airband it really is the most simple airband scanner your get

Hi I’ve just got this scanner for my Christmas. I live about 8 miles from Glasgow Airport so the radio doesn’t pick up the conversations clearly... does the aerial you bought make the range a lot better? Thanks

note that the newer uniden EZI33XLT+ takes 2 X AA batteries rather than 3 also it come with 2 rechargeable batteries installed.

+Phillip Lewis All depends on high above sea level etc and obstacles but from the Tyne Valley (Prudhoe) I can get ATC like Tower and Approach from around 30 miles in a straight line which is about just past Sunderland, if i was higher up that could extend a huge amount though! Great for the price and I would highly recommend for a starting areal.

i can tell all of you that it can in fact pick up military aviation as the uhf band is iin fact a military banf

Are you sure about that ? military airband frequently is 225-400 MHz . The civil airband frequently is 118-137 MHz which is covered on this scanner sometimes military use it for airport approach .

I've found it very frustrating to try and get an idea of how to use this receiver. This video, sadly, hasn't helped much! Hard to hear the dialogue, and the speakers accent is one I'm not very familiar with. If anyone knows of an instructional video, laying out how to use this scanner, I'd be very grateful!! (I've found the instruction leaflet about as clear as mud...)

I've just purchased one of these off ebay, they don't look very promising as a receiver, I suppose I've just wasted £50 down the drain ......but you live and learn by your mistakes

There's No military airband on this scanner so that's quite disappointing

@@AW-Services I've actually got a scanner with military frequencies on it .I can't pick up any air military channels even when there was military practice operations at my local airport I still got nothing maybe there using sat Comms now I guess a regular scanner with normal airband like this one is fine .
