Very useful, thank you. The manual says this scanner is easy to use. I beg to differ. I used to be a radio ham and had various rigs over the years. Starting out, this was one of the most awkward scammers I’ve ever come across. It’s also deaf as a post unless you replace the rubber duck antenna. But thanks for your post.
I unintentionally locked out two search banks (1, 2) and could not figure out how I did it. I also could not figure how to unlock them with the printed instructions. I searched RU-vid at while at my mom's house today and your video showed how to select and deselect the various banks. It was so simple yet I spent several weeks without figuring it out until seeing your video! Thank you! Jim
CTCSS Tone does not give you any security - Voice can be listened to on any other radio without setting or searching for anything - however you will be limited to hear only from those whose have this tone set also , same for DCS. It filters out other signals on that channel. It is used on bussy channels.
I can't do an automatic scan anymore, do you know how to get it back ? It can't figure it out at all. The scan button just doesn't do a sweeping scan anymore.
I have to correct you on one point: CTSS does not give you any privacy at all. If you do not enter a CTSS code on a channel - you will hear all traffic - regardless if the transmitter has CTSS enabled or not. IF you enter a CTSS code - then you will ONLY hear other transmitters with the same code. The idea is to avoid hearing transmissions that are not part of your ‘network’ - like other companies using no CTSS - or a different tone. CTSS can be really useful - I have an interesting analog UHF channel I listen too - but there is also a DMR Repeater transmitting an annoying buzz every 2 minutes on the same frequency. Luckily, the voice channel uses CTSS - and I have entered the code on may scanner. Now, the squelch will not open on the DMR repeater, only on voice transmissions
Hi quick question all my channels that have not been stored are L/O for example in Bank 1 I might have 4 channels saved, but the remaining are free to program however it is saying they L/O and I cannot turn it off, would you have any idea about this issue I am encountering? Cheers Shaun
Hiya I just got this scanner how do I enter the 8 kHz spacing while I put the freqs in a bank ie 126.780 or 119.130 I could do it on my mtv easily I have the manual but I just don't get it any information would be great or if u can do a video on it
You can program individual airports or you can search from one end of the band to the other hearing loads of different aircraft.a bit like tuneing a car stereo from one end to the other.
Michael Nelson I have seen an option to unlock all channels. Put your radio on a memory channel. And go into the menu on the enter key. It's either enter or function and enter. And in there is a menu I should think the option is in there. But you must be in memory mode first so go to a channel that's programmed in
