UniFi Dream Router Complete Setup (Security Oriented) 

Thanks a ton for a step-by-step tutorial. Really helped me figure things out during my initial setup on the UDR. I admire your security first approach to the setup. After the firewall setup, how would you suggest approaching setting up connectivity between HomeKit devices? AirPlay to HomePod or Apple TV and other IOT etc., while HomePod mini or Apple TV acting as a hub

Thanks for a great tutorial. If possible i would like to know how to setup and have a Synology NAS on the inside and reach it through the UDR from Internet

how was performance once it was setup? Alot of people say it is under powered and laggy at times with features enabled

I have netgate firewall at home. Can I connect this to the firewall and use it as a AP ?

Thank you for the video. Really helpful. I have two questions: 1. When I add one access point, it "expands" all the wifi networks associated to vlans created on the dream router automatically? 2. If I need to create 5 vlans with wired and wireless devices, is better a dream machine pro plus two access point (one for ground floor and one at floor 1) than dream router (for ground floor wireless coverage) plus switch plus one access point (for first floor coverage)? While a bit fast, this was a GREAT video and well explained, thank you. I'm leaning towards the UDR because I'm bored with just a generic Router / Mesh and I have nearly 100 devices on my network now. It's my IoT devices I'm concerned about and about people hacking them, but being able to continue to simply and seamlessly control them from anywhere.

Is the Blocking Trusted to Untrusted rule really required here? Looking at what you have done the Blocking Inter VLAN rule would cover this as this is a catch all.

Can you please show us how to create amanagement network. Each time I change the default Ip it buggers up the system. I can't find any where how to do this.. by the way your guide is amazing.

Hi! I have same new UDR, and also got the same switch USW-Flex-Mini, and the same AP UAP-AC-LR. I can use the POE port to power the switch, but I can’t power up the AP with the POE ports. Is there a different configuration, our did you use the power injector of the AP? Best regards and great post!

I set my system up as you showed. I would like guests to be able to print on a printer on a trusted network. Any suggestions how I do this?

Appreciate this video so much for showing the complete setup from scratch. What if I already have an existing UniFi site? I’m interested in migrating from USG/UCK set up to the UDR…could you do a video on the process? Can a restore from a recent backup be used to set up the migration? Appreciate your help. Thank you!

Do you know what the percent and the bars on the display means? Sometimes I have 99% but red bars so they dont seem to be representative of the same thing. My guess is that the % is wifi quality or something and the bars is internet quality? There are no info on what these two values mean anywhere I can find so Im just guessing here

Any idea why when I try to change the Global AP settings it gives me an error? It doesn't matter which setting I try to change they all give the same error. "There was an error saving Global AP Settings. This action could not be completed."

What is the point of the "Block Trusted to Untrusted" rule? Won't the "Block Inter Vlan Routing" rule block that connection anyway?

Security for country geoblocking: I assume if the hackers use a vpn it would not be blocked?

Max throughput is 650mbps, confirmed by Ubiquiti with everything off. Hard pass on a $200 router that can't push at least 1Gig

Who did he kill to get one of these?
