I’ve cracked why these videos are so good and effective! It’s the microphones!!! Those little yellow dot mics placed right near the mouth. Picks up all the mouth sounds and breaths and I think you have to be conscious of not speaking too loudly hence the soft spoken. I need to get one!

Its called "lo-fi" asmr, most people use cheap headsets to get the sound. Took me 3 years to figure out why older vids with busted sound worked better.

Also for many of us it has very little to do with the mic and mostly has to do with the person. RU-vid is saturated with ASMR pages of people whispering and for me at least they do nothing, but give me a random video of a doctor discussing rotator cuff issues and I’ll experience the tingles if his way of talking is right. While the mic helps being so close to her mouth it’s the way she pronounces words, the slight throatiness when she says the C in the word CALL, the pronounced sharp S and T sounds, the fact that she is talking softly but not whispering, which would eliminate the qualities that trigger the ASMR is key, for me at least. I tend to not react to it if it’s someone trying to make it happen as opposed to people like her who do it naturally. Another would be Diana Cooper, she talks about weird stuff but her voice, her S’s and T’s, are perfect.

It’s good because it doesn’t overload with wind noise or have excessive high frequency detail. F, V, T sounds are more emphasised though because the mic picks up more of the air sounds from being so close

Yeah there is an irony to their videos. If you just listen and don’t pay attention to the video you will be relaxed immediately, but if you watch the video it is sometimes unsettling and can actually make you uneasy lol

That guided mindfulness meditation at the beginning never fails to kill my anxiety, and by the time I'm to the visualization part, I'm usually asleep. I've seen other videos they've produced, as well as the mini doc Wubby did on them, but it's like Lynn's voice was made for ASMR and the likes with videos like these.
