Harli, I just need to tell you that I absolutely love your personality and your channel. Your genuine joy is infectious, and hearing or watching your plant videos always makes me happy. It’s so easy to get caught up in the popular plants, or to be negative, but it’s so refreshing to find someone like yourself that collects plants for joy. I appreciate your honesty too, like when you addressed that you did get caught in that mindset of being caught in the social media environment. I can tell how much happier you are now. Thank you for your transparency, sharing your joy with us is such a gift so thank you for real. My monstera deliciosa gave me a leaf with 16 fenestrations the other day, after only having 2 or 3 for the previous leaves. I get so much joy every time I see this and I’m thankful to you for helping me appreciate the beauty of every plant. I love that there are so many of us that share the same joy for our plants. Much love ♥️🖤💚
I know this is an older video, but I hope I can get an answer as to where you (or anyone) got you passiflora. I have space for a new plant and I think it would be perfect. Thank you, and am loving your help. Take care🙂
That type of Asparagus Fern will actually climb using its 'frond' tendrils. It's not a 'true fern' but is a member of the Asparagus family. Mine climbed about 6 feet up one of my wire-rack type shelving units, and quickly too, like in less than 2 months! It can be a bit 'unruly' when happy, but it's easy to cut back to keep it in line. Just watch out for the small thorns - yes they have thorns! So be careful when trimming a large specimen. I still love them though - that airy look and if they turn brown, just chop of the brown part and it will grow new fronds - you can even cut the whole thing back to near the soil and it will revive itself. LOVE this plant! Great suggestion - but if you live in a mild climate area, they can be quite invasive outdoors, so please keep them indoors as houseplants.
I was just going to ask about these bc mine was beautiful and growing all over the place and then one day it just turned completely brown. I'm really not sure what happened, but you think I can chop it back and it'll be fine?
@@shannonphillips7602 If it was very recent that this happened, yes there's a good chance it will. Check the root ball, and if it seems intact, there's a very good chance it will come back.
sphagnum moss is alive? where do you get yours? is all sphagnum moss alive? it's not cheap at all so I'm now thinking, can I grow my own. btw you're such a cutie pie. love your stuff
Omg me too! I tried getting the spagmoss on amazon, I’ve been keeping it in a little jar terrarium but I’ve got nothing yet. It’s been a little less then a month
Asparagus ferns are weeds here, where I live. I hate them, they’re almost impossible to destroy in the garden. I guess birds eat the berries (if it has berries!) and crap them out to annoy me! Meanwhile, as an Aussie, I would never try to grow a eucalyptus inside… they’re iconic enormous trees in the bush and our yards. I love love love the smell. They’re just summer to me. And I’ve never heard of a dog dying because of them. That sounds nuts… why would they even go near them, other than to cock a leg!
Passiflora trifasciata looks an awful lot like our native Yellow Passionflower, but the native most closely related is the Birdwing Passionflower, per the iNaturalist taxonomy. A lot of passionflower species have that nice midleaf silvery variegation, but it is variable within each species. I have Kalanchoe marnieriana (also goes by K. panamensis) as well as a number of other proliferator “Bryophyllum” Kalanchoes. I love them! They are winter bloomers, with lovely bell-shaped flowers. Their only drawback is that they are all monocarpic, meaning once they flower, the entire plant dies. Cherish those babies that drop off the leaves! Tahitian Bridal Veil is hardy to zone 8, as long as it is in a protected area. We have it planted in the beds next to the house, and even the Texas Icepocalypse of 2021 didn’t kill it. Beware, it will seek out other pots and colonize! I have some limited experience with the Asparagus Fern. I first saw one that was growing about 6-7 feet along a fence in Mexico, and decided I had to have one. I’ve never been particularly successful with them, probably because they are more thirsty that my other plants
I love my asparagus fern. I like to pretend I’m an ant in a forest 😂 so bushy and tree like! Mine is going mad at the moment. Another great video Harli, it’s so great to have you back! So glad you’re feeling more like yourself again ❤❤❤
Well, eucalyptus may be toxic and Kalanchoe marnieriana may resemble it, buuuuuuttt don't let your pets eat the Kalanchoe either! Or any Kalanchoe! Lol
Oh of course! I keep the toxic plants out of reach from kids & dogs. The reason I mentioned eucalyptus toxicity is bc even the scent from the eucalyptus is hazardous for dogs!
im so glad i found this channel, thank you for being a different kind of "houseplant influencer" + following YOUR passions instead of trying to just follow the houseplant trends. i'm fairly new to keeping plants other than cacti/ succulents; i worked at a plant influencer's online store HQ over the summer; it was such a fun gig but everything revolved around what was popular/ what would sell/ trends etc so you + your channel are breaths of fresh air. i hope to do a DIY terrarium like you did someday as well! keep on being your lovely self, it's great!
Thanks for pointing this! This RU-vidr made it seem like kalenchoes was nontoxic which is not true at all! This is how misinformation is spread and could lead to someone’s pet being harmed!
@@HarliG yes but this video made it seem like the plant was nontoxic which is very misleading. Saying things like that could lead to someone’s pet being harmed. You should be more clear next time you talk about toxic/nontoxic plants!
Every time I see your bridal veil my skin itches. Once it fell on my head at a garden centre and I found out I was extremely allergic. Randomly stopped at my brothers to use his shower lol
I had to give up on my asparagus fern. No matter what I did it wasn't happy. I finally put it in the yard and it's much happier outside than it was in my bathroom lol
You mentioned the first one (duck feet) looks like dinosaur foot to you and I was thinking it looks like the leaf Littlefoot gets at the beginning of Land Before Team.
That sphagnum moss with the tiny fern is so freaking cute! I've been thinking about passiflora trifasciata ever since I first saw it on My Petite Garden's channel, but I don't always do well with thirsty plants.
@@HarliG I just saw your comment 🥲 I like all kinds, mostly big leaf philodendron right now and anthurium. I guess what I meant to say was Ivy or ivy looking plants. But this one!!!! 🤩 this is the exception.
Hey Harli. A philodendron lemon lime upright was one of my first plants. I just love mine. It is in a hanging pot and soo pretty. It runs up the pot like a running plant. But it also hangs down like a running vine. Over the summer I saw some bridal veil plants but didn't get one. My grandmother used to grow these. I so wish I had got one. I will next season.
My asparagus fern is in my kitchen window its the only thing I like about washing up hehe. Its so beautiful I love it. It lookes like a copse of trees and I love that Great video
I am so jealous I wish I had a window by the sink 😭 I imagine it would be better to have a cute windowsill to put plants on… might make dishes less sucky 😂
LOL I have killed 3 different eucalyptus plants! They all die within a week of bringing them home. It's almost like my house (inside and out) is toxic to them 🤣
I do have a Long leaf lemon lime philodendron. I was amazed what it grew into. I got it as a very small plant and now it’s about 3 feet high. I also have the heart leaf lemon lime philodendron. It’s so bushy and pretty. I could never give either of them up. Loved your video. 💚🌱💚
I have beautiful bog grass (maybe cotton grass?? I dunno what it is, it's thick dark green cylinderical looking grass) growing out of my spaghnum moss!! It grows 4' tall!! I have it on my kitchen window sill and it touches the ceiling! I'm not sure if it came with the spaghnum moss or the nepenthes plants.
I finally just got an asparagus fern, but it's not quite like yours. It is very long and i paid $3 at a big box store. The next on my list is.. I really want to buy a passiflora from Benji.
I second this. I didn't even know you can or it's still alive. would love to see a vid o. how to do this. I think I want to grow my own to use not necessary for display. well maybe a little cute one. ugh now I have to shop for a terrarium. but wait, could I make one 🤔

Funny, just posted this idea and now see this. not sure how to tag you seems not work @Harli G
@@plantsandspreadsheets you can use an old aquarium or I found a perfectly good glass hamster cage in our dumpster and I’m gonna put a plexiglass on the top instead of the grid. Should do the job fairly well
THE PASSIFL💚RA Is A Planty Beauty... BUT I DON'T Think I Could Keep It Alive In My Home. This Time Of Year For Sure... I Think SHE Would Be Getting Too Much Heat And Too Little Humidity.
LOVE my upright lemon lime philodendron found mine at a nursery unamed, 75% off, just looking for the right person to give it some love; been growing like a beast ever since.
What else is gonna pop out... an orchid :). Haha. I've really been struggling with growing things in my glass cloche. I might just stick some sphagnum moss in there and see what happens. Looks so good in your terrarium!
I have the kalanchoe but the duck foot vine is new to me and I'd love to have one. It's a good list and you did remind me oabout the asparagus fern. Now I'm worried about my little fennel. Yikes. Thanks for sharing Harli
The passiflora has those squiggly vines because it’s looking for support in order to grow fruit, and it can be invasive if planted outdoors, they’re invasive in my area but they’re very beautiful and people here love passion fruit do it’s not so bad
The first time I saw kalanchoe marnieriana was at a trader joe's and it was sitting outside. I was immediately obsessed and tried to hunt down the name for so long. I still don't have one strangely enough, but I feel like they're really underrated!
