Can this formula be tweaked into generating actual words not just letters, which you've mentioned somewhere in the comments? Instead of numbers, let's say 5 different names to be generated randomly from a list of 10 names. Also the percentage of each data is different... that it is more likely a higher chance for some to get picked than others.
Strange, I followed the vid ALL the way through (I didn't stop when #NUM appeared,) and it works fine. Didn't get a repeated number once (in 4 solid minutes of generating new numbers) and haven't seen #NUM since adding the range of numbers from A1:A100. It does work.
This is great Doug H...how do i add to the formula...I need it the above to include only odd number and add up the sum of the 6 random number to be 158??
All this random generating choose numbers starting from 1 to 50 or 100 or whatever in order. What if you want to pick the numbers out of the customized numbers not in order. For example if you want to pick 5 numbers out of 1 to 10, 21 to 30 & 41 to 50 (not 11 to 20 & not 31 to 40) . I couldn't find solution for that...
Mr. doug; thanks for your insights education, I will really appreciated, I'm sure that you are about to laugh but I was looking for a formula that explain me the none repeating number when I make calculation with the RAND formula because of the Lotto Game that I am looking forward to win the lotto if ever I got luck. Anyways, thanks for the great educational videos. Respectfully; Andy
This method is useless for a lot of numbers if you wanted to generate 5 or 6 numbers you would have a formula longer than your arm. The chances of randomizing between 1 and 100 and getting a repeat just using 3 is very slim.
