"Unique Timbre For Percussion": In this video the creator shows how to process a simple percussion loop and transform it into something completely different in 2 ways. The video starts with a demonstration on how the bongos dont really work in the mix, in their original form.
The video demonstrates how shaving attack off the percussion transient can allow for much needed headroom in the mix. The method being used to achieve this is "reverb filter" processing. This processing also creates a very unusual timbre which is essential for modern Trap beat making, a genre that is very experimental.
The final method shows how you can "thin" the sound to resemble sticks, rather than bongos, extracting all the low energy out. This approach the creator is using multi-band saturation, cutting all the lows and boosting highs.
