I prefer how he sings now to the 80s because he sounds more genuine and sounds into it with a much fuller voice than he had in the 80s instead of sounding fake and going through the motions if his voice sounds strained at times on tour it is because he did not tour for a long time, and honestly I think he sounds more strained at times on the current helloween reunion tour at times than this performance but that shows he is pushing his vocals which is good I just wish Kai would get his voice back, I do not like Frank becks singing gamma ray or Halloween songs he is not kai,Ralph or even a Michael kiske or even an Andi deris

I think he's better now. He's matured as a singer and front man. His range is unbelievable.

@@fivestring65ify absolutely agree with you, if we are talking about Michael kiske, Kai is still my favorite all time vocalist and I have heard his singing in gamma ray but his voice is not even close anymore meanwhile kiske, on avantasia's latest album delivered one of his best vocal performances I have heard from him next to the track new horizons from his first solo, album I just hope on helloweens latest upcoming album they letKai produce it at his studio using the gamma ray style production mixing equipment and have Kai dirk, or eiki freese mix it, Kai has done things that way for years and helloween deserves that, also I think that should give micheal kiske a chance to use his full voice including his chest voice he deserves that to have a chance to use his full voice instead of feeling rushed or pressured like the keepers one album.

@Fang Face Walls of jericho is a great album and yes there is some songs i would call Kai songs but this is not one of them

Nine Lives Three reasons: 1. He has a very, very good singing technique and doesn't strain his voice. 2. He hasn't done long tours for about twenty years. Touring is what makes many singers lose their voices. 3. He takes care of his voice and doesn't drink alcohol I think and definitely doesn't smoke.

I wouldn't say that his voice doesn't age, since it obviously did; it is simply exquisitely preserved.

And he wasn't touring much for the last years, so yeah, his voice is well preserved.

Almost the same? It's *exactly* the same. Kiske is the greatest of the classic metal singers that is still absolutely perfect, he sounds like a studio recording live.

I agree. I love Deris and I can see how he tries to emulate Kiske in his version of this song. Only Kiske can sing it this well.

Kai wrote it and 15 20 years ago even 30 years ago Kai kicked ass as a vocalist don't believe me listen to his singing on gamma rays albums land of the free to land of the free 2, unfortunately kai's voice live is a lot weaker now and has been for the last 5 years with the highs and midrange but kiske sounds awesome in this unisonic performance much better than how he sang the song on keepers 2, yes a lot of people face about kiske or deris forgetting the facts and not giving Kai credit or ignoring that a lot of the songs you.guys are comparing Kai wrote, I hear people compare how kiske and deris sing future world or I want out but no one mentions or compares how Kai sang it in the past or Ralph sheepers who sang both of those songs and save us in live performance with gamma ray and the truth is Kai and Ralph sang the best on songs like future world and I want out and I stand by that statement especially concerning kai up until around 8 years ago, thankfully kiske has stepped up to the plate and in live situation nowadays gives it his all unlike in the old days with sounding too restrained and unemotional thank god that had changed with kiske

@@gabrielstern4992 I love every member Helloween has, but Kai Hansen is and was always my favorite because I love his guitar playing and the songs he wrote. Kai is the strongest songwriter in all of Helloween's years in my opinion. Gamma Ray is an amazing band and Kai has done a phenomenal job writing songs and singing on the majority of their albums. Andi Deris even said it himself that Kai Hansen is the man that started Power Metal. He has always been the Godfather of Power Metal in my eyes. He even helped some bands get going when they came out like Blind Guardian and Angra.

Helloween with Kiske as mainman threw Hansen under the bus and signed with major label without him. Look up "DAMN THE MACHINE -- The Story of Noise Records". Kiske then tried to get as far away from metal as possible for many years and his career suffered and lately has been working towards retirement and cashing on that awful music that he so hates :)

Kiske was not original lineup kai was the original vocalist kiske joined for the keepers albums and kiske did not sing ride the sky or how many tears originally or victim of fate Kai did not kiske and multiple times has stated he was not much of a fan of songs like victim of fate that's why he hated bieng forced to sing redone versions of victim of fate and starlight when he was in the band the first time
