United 737-900ER First Class Review 

The people that are having a meltdown over United selling these tickets as "Domestic First class" are the same people who are totally ok with the "Euro Business Class" seat and concept...

Hey, I work for an airline and that same question came up during a meet and greet with the airline’s president. He said the reason (or one of the reasons) DEN is so far away is because it allows the airport to grow and expand without restriction. Take EWR (Newark) for example. Expanding EWR is nearly impossible because of all the businesses and privately owned property around it. It’s possible the airport could purchase the land from the private owners, but the cost of doing so would be astronomical, and not financially feasible. This means it’s not possible to add more runways, which prevents airlines from operating more direct flights from EWR to the West Coast. Instead, the airlines leave EWR alone, fly one flight into DEN, and then they expand DEN as needed to add flights that connect to the West Coast. They can do this because land around DEN is so much cheaper, because it’s in the middle of nowhere (like you said). Kind of a complicated answer, but I hope I answered your question and gave you some insight into the thought process of an airline!

Denver isn't really in the middle of nowhere, they just built the airport in the middle of nowhere because our previous airport, stapleton airport was poorly designed. They decided to build the airport out there to give more room for runways, concourses etc.

I miss Northwest (went to school literally just down the street from their headquarters), but United is the only airline that flies to my home airport, so that's kind of my only option.

Yes. Denver built its new Airoort in what we called Kansas. I worked for the original Frontier Airlines (FL) at Stapleton International Airport closer in town. Great Airport it was. ✈️

For those just wondering If you want to get to terminal b and c you dont have to go via A on the bridge you can go via the main check ponit the bridge is there just casue but casue not as many people know about it. It is a nice short cut

Its far away because the old Stapleton airport was in a highly populated area of south Denver, and they moved it so everyone in Nebraska, Wyoming, and the surrounding cities could get to it easier (they built a new toll road too) and there would be less noise pollution.

DEN used to be not far away, but the city grew around it. Stapleton was closed when the new airport was opened in the middle of nowhere so people weren't bothered by noise, and there's room for expansion.

Just to be clear, have you actually flown on a CRJ200 (the "cute torture tube")? Because their window seats are actually wider than the non-first-class window seats on a lot of the bigger planes, such as the 737-800 and 737-900, because they can afford to have them be, because the little CRJs are only 4 seats across.

The San Diego airport is my favorite airport

when I fly into DEN, Im usually connecting to another Frontier airlines flight and im stuck there for about 7 hours .

there's a little bar upstairs, you pan down at 2:35 and it can be seen top right (bar section partially obscured by that blue arch), that has these really good froofy sliced chicken sandwiches and this tomato soup with lots of parmesan in it (dunno why) with these really comfy chairs and a nice view of that center section, I think it's like "bar 5280" or some such nonsense, but boy, if you have an hour to kill and are hungry, it's a terrific spot and always empty (I guess ppl don't know they have food, cause it does just look like a bar). A lot of ppl bash Denver, but the United terminal is actually pretty decent. I love flying into Pitkin from Denver (always on a crj700).

Awesome video! Loved it and to answer your question about why Denver airport is so far away from everything. They did this so that there is more area to expand the airport because if it were in the city it would be limited in size because of surrounding businesses and homes taking up the area surrounding the airport!

United first class breakfast is really good. I would recommend the waffles with fruit. I’m going to Mexico tmrw and got first class seats

The information screen shows 8 seats open but it’s being very stressed it is a completely full flight, so I’m guessing there were quite a lot of people on standby. Last time I flew United there were 6 seats showing open before boarding with 26 people on standby. Overbooked by 20 people, which makes me think the A319 I had was too small for that route and timing. Even though the announcements seem goofy, at least the crew seems better than what I got on flight UA421, which is my latest flight currently.

I flew for the 1st time and decided to go 1st class from NY to ElPaso , with my lil dog. I was assured that the flight crew would be ok with me having my 10 lb dog with me.. He was in an approved carrycrate . Well I was treated like shit.. My vet gave me meds for my dog so he would be calm and maybe sleep aliitle for the 2 flights .. I paid $740 for each way. The stewardess on the flight from Chicago to El Paso was talking shit about me to another one . I asked her what was wrong and she said I shouldn’t be allowed to bring my dog because not everyone wants to deal with an animal on the flight, especially in 1st class. She then made me move to the back of 1st class after she herself chose someone to take my seat in the second row. I told her that my dog is sleeping and hasn’t made a sound to bother anyone. She then had the fuckin nerve to say - “I’m sure your ticket was an upgrade or a gift anyway!! “ I’m a registered nurse! I paid for those tickets myself, it was my 1st time flying- ever! I cried the whole flight! Never again!! I

Where did you stay in Denver? It's a vast contrast in locales--DEN is not convenient to downtown vs SAN where downtown is,well,right there,going from the 'Mile HIgh City' to sea level,one time zone apart.Interesting how even in October,there is snow on some mountain ranges,you arrive in SAN at about 10am PT,what did you do for the rest of your day? Had it been me,would've made it home and to bed!

This is why I fly JetBlue, American, and Qatar, and Emirates, That’s all But I’ve never flew first class, And I’m usually always on 737’s or Air Busses for some reason, It makes me laugh I’ve been on Americans 827 I think, I also fly southwest, You have to check out the new seat design, Not so standard but very nice interior!

I think they go with blue lighting in the bathrooms because it makes it hard to see your veins, and therefore difficult to inject drugs.

0:33 Hi so DIA is so far away from anything because in case it needs to expand there is the room the airport before this Stapleton which was closer to downtown Denver but as crowds grew and it needed to expand it could not expand. And Stapleton became the LGA Of Denver (close to the city but cramped outdated and out of space) now my aunt works at the airport as a manager for one of the airlines and she has told me that the upside of how the airport is built is there is room for the more runways and extra terminals also note as of today there is a train (not saying its 100% working) and buses that can get you to downtown Denver in about half an hour plus compare to most big hubs this has space and tons left to share

DIA or Denver international airport is 20 minutes east of Denver it’s really not that far outside of Denver.

Denver is so far because the downdraft of wind from the mountains create windy situations in and near the foothills

The lack of a TV screen on most United planes is why I avoid United, in general, when I can. I HIGHLY prefer Delta (including Economy) to United or American. I get it -save the weight and cost of the TV screens. But even in first class?? Nope - that turns a lot of people like me off. I'd prefer Delta economy to United First class.

I've just never been all that impressed by United domestic first. Their international first has always been superb for me, but I prefer Delta for domestic. The flight attendants just seem more seasoned and professional, although that's just been my experience. Great video though

Why you fly alot

UNITED has very mediocre first class service. I paid full-fare on my last domestic trip with them and got plastic cups, only one meal choice and one option for red wine which I realized was a the same wine being served in economy. Very strange indifferent service (e.g., they started meal service in row 6 and then went up to start again with row 1) and the same spotty entertainment signal I've experienced in most UNITED flights. I'm giving up on them after years of canceled and delayed flights, understaffed and combative ground crews and measured indifference to their customers.

What a joke, the only good business class service now a days is on 3rd world carriers and they also seem to operate newer aircraft as well.
