United Bates of America-Love Times 21-Season 1 Episode 1 

This feels much more natural and loving than watching the Duggars. I can honestly say, I watched the duggers because Inwas curious... I watch the bates because its genuinely fun, warm and loving.

I know a lot of non-religious people scoff at families like the Bates, but I think there is an old time charm about them. Reminds me of a simpler time when people really cared about others, instead of electronics or other material things. I hope their show is a success and that they don't fall into the pitfalls of scandal, like another large tv family did.

I like how they're less reserved- they can actually hug each other and be affectionate, unlike the Duggars

It's deffinetly a major difference from the Duggars, I feel like the Bates show much more emotion, individuality, and genuine love for one another. I really enjoy this show and will keep watching :)

It seems like although their family is large as well they seem more personable with their children and affectionate. Gil goes to appointments and you see them using endearing terms and seem warmer with their children. They seem happier as a family. I like the Duggar family too but to me the Bates family is more refreshing to watch.

I really love the Bates so much more than the Duggars. The kids seem much more well-adjusted and happier, plus the parents absolutely adore every single child they have. You can feel the love.

I love how they point out that naturally younger kids are not grateful we have to teach them and the earlier you start the better ❤️

I am one of a very large French catholic beloved family ..I compare us standing in between the two televised families ..never, ever would we dare criticize our upbringing..of course us elder children put in more than our share as our parents both worked 2 jobs to pay mortgage, we never ran out of food ..we were privileged to music lessons, scoutism, dance and gymnastics ..we were very aware that our papa broke the alcoholism plague from his LARGE FAMILY ..as adults we mend our downfalls with the offending sibbling ..end of story ..Bravo Bates ❤ family..moi, 🇨🇦

I love the idea of 'I love you day' opposed to it being just 'Valentine's Day'. Kids of all ages can get involved. They can look at themselves and what makes them special, then what makes other people special, and telling those that are special to you that you love them.

I love the BATES family. They are so genuine. They are actually like a happy, godly family. And Gil and Kelly take care of there own kids and seem to be great parents, and the kids (even the girls) get to speak there mind and act like normal kids without doing the parents responsibilities. They make me smile and laugh more than my own family does. They just rock! Opposite of the Duggar quivercult clan who act and sound fake. You can't even compare these two families besides the fact that they both have 19 kids

I like the way the mother describes her children. You can see that she is genuinely happy. Unlike Michelle Duggar.

I love when gil says "I picked mom. I picked her 24 years ago, and I'm gonna keep her" that's so sweet!

I love the Bates family. God bless them all. I admire your family so much. so loving and genuine.

I wonder if they’re more affectionate to each other because they don’t have a sex pest of a son they’re trying to protect

This makes me so happy, especially the dinner and gifts at the end and how thankful they were for each other. I am an only child who came from a horribly broken family and a mother who wanted to ignore me all of my formative years, so I'll admit I'm rather hardened towards children and families because I haven't spent any time around them and don't know how to act. This actually made me well up a bit because having that love there is the most important thing, and fosters happy and healthy children and prosperous adults; I can attest that a horrible family environment or a bad/ abusive parent can make you physically unwell and struggle with your health. This family is sweet to see, they have good values and teach their kids, but don't go crazy with it, and to this day, they love on and spend time with all their kids and let them make their own decisions. Wonderful model of a family trying their best.

While I still think their views are incredibly backwards and fucked up, the Bates do seem to genuinely love and enjoy their children. Jim Bob Duggar can't even fucking name half his kids, and Michelle is very obviously detached from all of them. The kids seem more like trophies to them. Gil and Kelly really show a lot of affection towards their kids. And I think Kelly showed more emotion over her sick newborn than Michelle ever showed over her premature daughter and later miscarriage.

They are so sweet loving family! I love the duggars and the bates!

I'm not religious at all, but I love this family. Gil is an amazing dad, Kelly is a lovely mom. They both seem so genuine and affectionate, and very involved, and it shows with how balanced and verbal their kids are.

I like the Bates they are more real and honest the duggers seam to be staged. Gill tells you what he does for a living.

They seem like very good people. I really respect them. I also like the way they worship God.

This happened to our son when he was born.I had a C-section and all of the fluids that usually get squeezed out while coming through the birth canal did not come out..I noticed as soon as they held him up for me to look at him that his was kind of grasping for breath and I asked if that was ok? and then they started working on him..He spent 3 days in the NICCU but praise God he came home with us on the fourth day with no more issues to worry about..

I love how they put formal clothes on the kids and then served spaghetti and sauce for them to mess them up ^^

This family is just so natural and seem so we'll adjusted. There is genuine happiness in their household and they don't seem to be so uptight and like they're trying to prove something like their counterparts here in Arkansas. I really enjoyed watching them. And that little one, Callie, is so adorable I can't stop laughing at the way she talks and reacts to things. These folks seem to be the real deal and I congratulate them on their happy family.

She is still in good shape having all those kids. God bless you all

I don't remember ever seeing this episode or in fact, this series. It was wonderful seeing everyone little and know now how they are grown with families of their own.

The Duggar kids all look so southern and plain with the exception of Jessa. Whereas the bates children are genuinely attractive (especially Lawson 😍). none are plain.

This is an awesome show! I think there are lessons that can be learned from them. They teach us to love and respect each other , honor God, responsibility,how to work together, and so much more. This is a show that all families should watch!! I enjoy this show immensely. PLEASE. BRING IT BACK

I'd love a where are they now of sorts for the Bates, their energy is so refreshing. The sibling dynamic seems way healthier. Dad jokes are actually sigh funny instead of the cringey JB. Momma Bates seems to actually know her kids!! Just wholesome. Definitely a good quarantine break.

I'm a mom and despite having my son 2 weeks early, I was able to hold him right away. My heart hurts for all the moms and dads that have part of their heart in heaven or aren't able to hold them right away. ❤

Why can't Erin marry a man that can cook. Personally I like it when men cook. Men should be taught to cook, wash their clothes and use the iron before they leave home because when they are in the real world it will be essential.

I love the bates I saw them for the first time with the Duggar’s but they are so different they seem to love their children and all the new spouses and grandchildren.. they talk and you can feel the love between them all.
